First, I play on Erica. I have three characters long ready for B grade. I went looking around in Giran to see what things cost.
I swear I choked on my drink.
Avadon Circlet - 10 million
Blue Wolf Helm - 16 million
Blue Wolf Tunic - 15 million
Sword of Damascus - 69 million (no pluses, no SA)
Then there is the
Brigadine Helm - 16.5 million
Manticore Boots - 15 million
Half Plate BP 3.75 million
Seriously...what is up with these prices?
I completely understand that the market is driven by the prices people will pay. The way most people price things is they look around and see what everyone else is charging. It's easy to make prices go up, really hard to make them come down.
Luckily I have a friend that donated a bunch of parts to me. Hopefully with a bit of gathering I'll be able to attempt some crafting, but there are still recipes and parts I need to farm as well as basic mats.
Have the prices just gone whack because people no longer take the time to gather stuff themselves and are willing to pay anything to just buy it?
lol thats funny, well, bartz isnt even close to that level yet. The only stuff that has really gone up on bartz is stuff that is upgraded or bought through mamoon (top c grade weapons etc) because AA is needed for so many things now that its cost has gone up greatly.
Have the prices just gone whack because people no longer take the time to gather stuff themselves and are willing to pay anything to just buy it?
It's also pretty hard to get the necessary base materials (bones, skins, stuff like that) once you're past lvl 60. Not many players keep a spoiler dwarf in that level region just to farm materials, so most players have to rely on "those other players" to get their crafting materials. And e.g. for a Sword of Damascus 100% you need around 6m adena in animal bones... That of course drives prices through the roof. And recipes, especially for top B weapons, are extremely hard to get, so that those alone can cost 10m or more.
Lets say a player with 2 years experience is bored and wants to make an alt. Let's say he has roughly a half a billion adena. There is one helmet in town for brig and 4 buyers...who's gonna get the helmet?
They need to add armor to mammon. Exchange rates and upgrades cement the NPC value with actual value on the market. This will partially be accomplished through the new raid boss system next chronicle (no useless drops).
Although Lionnna prices are MUCH lower (brig helm about 5 million and sword of damascus about 58 million today) inflation is causing steep increases in just the past 6-8 weeks.
Prices were relatively constant in my experience from January 06-May 06. Then, boom!
Every couple of weeks, all of a sudden, the best D-stuff started going up 200k....3.2 million for glaive/els/SoL/Bonebreaker...then 3.4, then 3.8, then 4.0, then 4.2.....usual costs last night 4.3million for those. Since May 15th.
That's almost a 50% price increase in 10 weeks!!!!!! Others on this forum tell me it happens because "no one is farming those mats anymore..."
I understand the concept but have to disagree.
I don't know what the root causes are (although I suspect it's a sudden increase in 'free' and extra money purchased outside of the game).
I do know that whatever stability Lionna had during my first 5 months of play seems to rather suddenly be gone.
There aren't THAT many new players on Lionna to increase demand (meaning supply, though reduced, should be adequate).
Either everyone with toons in their 60's decided to reroll D-grade alts in the same 2 months or a LOT of money arrived on the server in the past weeks. I'm betting on the latter.
In free-market economies individuals can't simply manufacture income by a factor of millions. In L2 a player can evidently buy millions of adena in minutes and 'acquire' wealth thousands of times over what they earned. This easy money means that everyone can buy 'extra' gear and just leave it laying around in storage...meaning demand exceeds supply.
It's the ready and easy access to false wealth that corrupts the economy imo.
More money = more corruption.
I don't have other answers..........sry
The reason why prices on Erica are so high is because Adena on Erica is the cheapest of all servers. Since people need to make a living, they simply raise the prices of all the mats. This way they get more adena to sell and it forces more people to buy adena to be able to craft their gear.
And peoples who buys adena are all like "How lucky we are, we have the cheapests prices, and they go down !!" while they do not even see how 923'ed the prices are mad in game ...
So people just are willing to pay instead of farm?
That's what it boils down to it seems.
I have 200 M adena sitting after all my gear. If I REALLY am bored and need something else to do, do you think 5 M on D grade is gonna make me blink? And I'm poor for a 2 yr player o.o
Those prices are just insane, I'm glad I'm not on Erica.
I'd suggest creating a Scavenger and getting yourself started on some materials. If the base materials aren't selling well you should craft something worthwhile and pawn that. You need to get a decent amount of money with which to invest.
With prices like that breaking into the market is the hardest part, but once you do you can use it to your advantage. At those prices the buy low/sell high game is extremely profitable, you just need to keep an eye on the market and snag any deals you come across. Once you get started doing this it becomes much easier.
Hm, no offence, but I think that this kind of player are only a few part of those who pay that much without pain.
It is not because of players who are here for 2 year that the prices are like that. And I can tell it for sure because I have seen a good number of new players having the top gear of their next grade before reaching it without playing a dwarf.
Also, they just talk open about their commands of adena, like :
"Hey, were going to party at EV, you come ?
- Nah, I just bought 100M I wait my command and I go finish to buy my C grade"
On clan channel ... I will not give any name through, and these ones are not anymore in my clan ...
The "Just Say No" to drugs campaign failed in the US...I doubt people take the "just say no to adena" campaign very seriously. Human greed is hard to compete with. Such is man.
The "Just Say No" to drugs campaign failed in the US...I doubt people take the "just say no to adena" campaign very seriously. Human greed is hard to compete with. Such is man.
Still, having one person say no is better than none at all. Trying to stamp out the problem to the last man is unrealistic, but taking a stand against such things can at least reduce the percentage of people who participate in the secondary market.
For Erica, the only solution I can see is to take the fight to the farmers. There are too many of them, or they're just too efficient if they're turning out ridiculous amounts of adena like that. I have no idea what server politics are like on Erica but the alliances should consider working together to take back the server if they're concerned about the prices.
I want to play monopoly with these guys ...
"Hey, I sell you my 500 monopoly's dollar for only $50 !!! That's a deal !"
Seriously, I don't think there is a way to stop it totally, but at least to reduce it, Silveria had a good idea about molesting them ... but I don't know any L2 players IRL so I hadn't tested it yet.
Also, I deeply think that we can accomplish great things if we work together, peoples have just to find other trustful peoples and act in a group better than in individual.
It is part of why the prices are so high, everyone want to be the only one at top, the best, they act alone and do not hesitate between legitimately sucks or being a victorious cheater.
Ah Jute you read my mind! :) I was thinking this same thing on Kain the other day. Our prices are nowhere near yours but I was comparing what things USE to cost only 1 chronicle ago and what they are now. It's wild.
That's just a few of the things, I check Giran on a regular basis and look at items and think to myself, WOW this was so much cheaper C3, even C2, what on earth happened?
I am on Erica also. Many people price there merchandise for the adena buyer. Dont buy from them.
You have to realize that whatever it is you want to buy, you probably dont really need. I know a SpS who used BW into his 70's. He was not concerned with A grade armor, since mobs never actually got close to him.
There are deals out there, but you need to shop at least twice a day to find them. The more you shop, the better chance you have.
I want to play monopoly with these guys ...
"Hey, I sell you my 500 monopoly's dollar for only $50 !!! That's a deal !"
I'll give you these clay chips and a few cards for real money. Doesn't that sound weird? Oh wait we call it Poker :p Lots of games are based around money. The first "games" were probably based around money. Nothing changes.
I think its all the players buying low and selling high everywhere. Not only that but there are many players who are coming around on 2nd class change and the adena to buy there gear at c and b-grade. Like posted before some ppl even keep all there gear for 3rd class possible too. so now the economy will have to create new gear for that aswell. just my opinion.
The question is how do we get them back down. I don't think it can be done, it would take a collective effort from the player base.
Reroll to bartz.
My new mission in life is to get every player to reroll to bartz. It's a noble goal seeing as how if you are a blatent ebayer/botter you will not be able to get into any top clan. You will be a scrub for life. Ebaying/botting clans are killed and not allowed to control castles. Anybody who works with raid farmers is kos to the entire server. Raid farmers are constantly killed by all non scrub clans....
Seriously... reroll to bartz if u want to play the game it was meant to be played.
If i send ya some money, could ya send me some BW Tunics for 15m each? On Sieg i can resell them for 30-35m ^.^ (and the price allready droped a bit, friend got 38m just for the Tunic >.<...)

And you wander why the hell I rerolled off of ERICA and to kain, kain is high to, but not half as bad as ERICA is.
ERICA is a pice of trash, and isn't worth the time to lvl on...I feel sad that I wasted 2 years on it.
It's part of his "charm." I'm sure when he was on Erica, he said other servers were trash. Some people are just like that. Although, Bartz is trash. :p
someone had a good idea in saying "boot people from the clan" if theyre known to have bought adena.. or even strongly suspected
im not sure how some of the large clans and alliances are these days as far as allowing the buying and selling of adena. But if more people are up front about the rules and not allowing it I think more people would at least second guess themselves before buying adena
sad thing is, this game is becoming saturated with adena...and not enough gear. here lies the problem. for new players seeking D-grade its impossible. Im not sure where the logic lays in not increasing some of the whole drop rates, as it would greatly bring down prices of items to be purchased.
when I first started playing (up to c2) this game a almost never saw characters weilding glowing D-grade weapons, much less +6 and above. Its common place now. this alone should say something
On C2 there wasn't glowing effect. (I know you know, just tried to be a bit fun)
I am ok for expelling those player out of my clan, the fact is now my clan count two peoples in it ... and those who buys adena go in other clans.
It will be an effective way, of course, but only if we convince all the clan leader to do so ...

The sad fact is that many say things like "well, the person is legit now so he's okay in our clan." It too bad but people seem to forgive and forget too easily. Got a person playing an account was botted up to 75 and purchased by a new person? No problem. He's playing for our team now.
i'm liking HiEverbody's description of bartz :P players should do that on every server.
but once again i can only say this, just mail any1 who's selling overpriced to tell them to lower it (explain that your starting a revolution).
Jute, I will sell you the full brig set for 6 mill. pm me over the weekend. Oh and i will sell u anything else at everyday lowlow prices. My wh is full.
On teon prices are pretty good. On hinde they are slightly better or even better I can say. I was on Erica when I tried to decide what server to reroll on. Your prices are completely [censored] UP!
Yea, only about 90% ebay or bot. I would seriously say that out of 100 people, 65 ebay or bot, 20 exploit the ebayers or botters and 5 train the ebayers or botters... The last 10 MAY be legit...maybe...
I rarely see A-graders w/o top A-grade, usually very +'d. I personally cant afford crap!
The other problem is many people run their own bot trains now, not just farmers, but I know a LOT of people that have personal 9 man crews in catas, TOI, and near portal stone in LoA... Its sad and sick that they make 20m+ a day >.< getting trained for them is just part of the job...
but taking a stand against such things can at least reduce the percentage of people who participate in the secondary market.
This doesn't have any real effect at all, in fact, it hurts as much as it helps.
I have no idea what server politics are like on Erica but the alliances should consider working together to take back the server if they're concerned about the prices.
The major alliances work with or are the farmers. On a sidenote, do you honestly all of those gibberish name people you see running around are actually chinese farmers or other such?
Jute, I will sell you the full brig set for 6 mill. pm me over the weekend. Oh and i will sell u anything else at everyday lowlow prices. My wh is full.
Well, Hi there! I've been trying to replace my dwarf's brig helm that he lost. I'd be happy to buy it from you if you still have it.
Jute, I think the reason the prices are starting to get out of control is that the people who sell the in-game currency are in such a competition to get our real life currency that they have had to seriously slash some prices. I think someone told me before that $1 = 1,000,000 adena or maybe it was $1 = 750,000. Now, just a quick yahoo search netted me a result of adena for about 50-60 cents per million. How do they keep up? By raising the prices of the things they sell in game. Animal bones (basic example) were only about 300-400 a couple of months ago and now they range from 1500-2000 each on Kain (I would assume the same on Erica).
I went to another site offered as a source of on-line income and found that they were even "sold out" of higher quanitities of the adena thus leading me to believe one of two things:
1. People are buying too much adena for the trains to keep up with thus creating the in-game price disparities. In order to meet their demands for real currency the prices have to be "fixed" to make up for the lack of supply. Essentially those who purchase on-line currency are the ones who are wrecking the market for everyone, including themselves. When it became economically feasible for the average player to purchase 150 million adena (75 bucks) those who supplied this currency have found a way to keep their business open by adjusting their in-game supply of products to help offset the potential losses of real currency.
2. NCSoft has banned so many account that the companies have to increase their price to be productive. Aka there are so few trains that there just isn't enough manpower. (Now, do we really think this is the case?)
I've been making tons of money spoiling Varnish on my low level Scav. The funny part of it is I don't see the prices dropping because there is so much demand for it. It helps the casual players like myself. When I need 10,000 varnish and Animal bone I know I can farm for it myself within a month though. I don't see why people can't farm for thierselves except that they want to do other things.
I must say it is a pain in the neck farming for all of it though, and with great effort comes great reward. I've (so far) been enjoying the expensive mat prices.
Yup I think that way too many ppl re-rolled on Erica at the same time, everything in Dion is top D +8. I sold a DS +1 /w focus for 15 mill, which I thought was pretty overpriced but the guy who bought it reced me cos it was 5 mill cheaper then other C grade stuff :o
I'd sell EWD for under 1 mill but when there are ppl shouting out in town "WTB EWD 1 mill" who am I to resist?
So people just are willing to pay instead of farm?
That's what it boils down to it seems.
I have 200 M adena sitting after all my gear. If I REALLY am bored and need something else to do, do you think 5 M on D grade is gonna make me blink? And I'm poor for a 2 yr player o.o
I have just over 2m, not counting the gear I'm wearing. You're not poor.
I've been here since Open Beta, and cannot seem to make money in the amounts required.

I'm actually looking for Half Plate... the Brig was an example. But thank you for the offer.
why do people insist on half plate? It doesn't have any SAs to start, and the PDEF isn't better, it's ACTUALLY worse in comparison to Brig. Just cause the initial armor pdef is slightly lower, the 5% pdef boost offsets it enough to make brig actually show more pdef. (as long as you have the helmet/tunic/gaiters, and really they are dirt cheap aside from the helmet)
I'm actually looking for Half Plate... the Brig was an example. But thank you for the offer.
why do people insist on half plate?
Because I hate the way Brig looks on my human. ;) That and the extra isn't going to make that much difference for a character that is two boxed with a Prophet.
I use half plate. The reason I looked for it was because every d grade toon is in brig. At character creation its tough to make a character that stands out from the rest. Half plate looks way better than brig. It took me weeks of searching to get all my half plate stuff and I get complimented on it almost every day. I take alot of pride in gathering all the pieces to it. How hard is it to find brig? Some of us enjoy the challenge of finding these rare items.
Man, I thought I'd find prices like that only on a 35x server. :P Thats completely rediculous considering how slow money comes in on the official server. If you see someone with those kind of prices my suggestion is to laugh and find someone else who is smarter.
Well, the problem is simple. If everyone is selling at those prices, do you honestly think someone is going to sell for much less?
If you see two shops with an Avadon Circlet for 10 million, is another shop going to set up and sell for 3? Chances are that at most, they will sell for 9.
oh jute, didnt know you were attached to Erica's T.T thats sad to know.
Well, you know. I play there too. Theres a lot of not so nice things going on there. People has taken things personally there, so they dont measure any effort to win. Whatever they are fighting for (Im out of the game now, lagging way too much to play).
What happened on our server is sad. Its way too empty. Its dominated by the "bad" players. They all ebay, bot, leech, cheat, scam, recall accounts. Its actually hard to find legits there, I can count the bit a know on my fingers.
And, well, yes. There is a reason the "black market" on Erica is the cheapest around...
Its simple buisness. You look at the competition, you look at how much it would cost if you sold it at a store, and you also get the amount of money you spent to get it, and you sell it for less than everyone else, but more than you spent to get it. You make a profit, and beat the other prices. I mean, I seriously doubt people spent 40+ mil to get their armor chestpiece.
You have to have some buisness savvy but if you can do it right you can beat the competition but still get a profit from the item.
Good luck with that. This is a hard set to find and most people with it arent willing to sell it. The shield and helmet seem fairly easy to get. I got lucky getting the breastplate. Which was the last piece I needed. A dwarf that was interested in my bonebreaker was wearing the breastplate after some discussion about how we could both get what we wanted the exchange was done. Im never parting with this armor. Unless I die sometime and drop it. :(
I wish you would have caught me online before I sold that BP, I would have sold it to you alot cheaper.....
The reason I price those BP's the way I do, is becuase if I dont, some other dorf will come along and buy it and resale it for even more anyway, I figure why throw money away...
Although, I would prefer to sell at a reasonable price to a legit player, I can't always do that with an afk shop....
But if it will make you feel any better, I still got 5 HP Tempers your welcome to have....
To the Point:
I think the main reason the economy is so screwed up is the fact that NCSoft/NA devs refuse to up the drop rate on mats/items, plain and simple....
Reroll to bartz.
My new mission in life is to get every player to reroll to bartz.
...
Does not work for me. I live in Europe and I get bad lag on west coast. I log in, and wait like 2 minutes for anything start to appear even.
That's not the way it's meant to be played I guess :(
Whatever you do don't come to Sieg then LMAO
BW Tunic is about 30mill (lowest cost)
BW Helm -8-10Mill
The Avadon set & stuff isn't even close to that high of a price,
But I feel where your coming from. Considering I just got my full BW set about 5 days ago & it was expensive :(
I'm so glad I'm on Hindemith then. Besides the 140-200mil range for A grade helms, the prices don't look too bad compared to the 30mil BW Tunic and such. The only big influx I've seen as of late is overenchanted D grade weapons. +5 to +10 weapons used to be 5-15mil max..now I'm seeing a +10 top D wep for 30-40mil. Seems to be the hot item of the month. As much as I have enough cash laying around for that +10 top D...I won't buy it because I know its going to drop given time. It's a trend I've gotten used to and will just wait out. That reroll character will just have to wait a bit longer for me. :D
this dudes compleening about high cost's how much do bones sell for how much do AA sell for offent high price's trends with high basic mats so plz dont cry about how expensive something is also you guys are not sharp then if you can get around 3000 a bone make a BH and spoil some stuff

I have 3000 coarse bone powder in my wh (30k animal bones) and i have tons of things I cannot craft because abone is needed for every dang recipe in huge amounts for c grade an up. I have all these key jewelery parts and tons of other stuff I dont even have the option of crafting because I end up losing about 100k each time I craft...they either need to make a bone drop by the friggin dozen or they need to make it so not every recipe in the game for c grade and up doesnt require animal bone. It is quite annoying I assure you.
their you have your brake point of economics
craft your own **** instant of buying your stuff you need and sell your stuff you colected sounds more profitable then crafting your own =D also D+C items cant never be more expensive then NPC market so dont start with D+C+some B items
if you buy things more expensive then npc market you most ask your self if you are smart :)
their is a saying spice most flow so do adena's just like a real world
...they either need to make a bone drop by the friggin dozen or they need to make it so not every recipe in the game for c grade and up doesnt require animal bone.
On Devianne the prices for animal bones are finally dropping. I bought 10,000 the other day in an overnight buy shop for 750a each. Yes, that is still many times their base value, but compared to the 1400 - 2000 that I saw a few weeks back, I'll take it. We are in the mid-to-late stages of this Chronicle, so you can expect many of the prices for base mats to drop.
All the same, I wish that we could go back to the days of multiple mat drops per mob.
