EVRYTHING except adena, ancient adena, quest items and you weapon can drop. However you weapon can drop if you have more than 5 pk counts.
How often?
As far as I know its just luck. I drop stuff about 1/4 times I die. Ive herd people dropping stuff 100% of time cause they are not lucky. Ive also herd people saying you drop items less often the higher level you are (mostle speculations and observations) but imo its just luck. Oh Btw, if your red your chances of dropping something are MUCH much higher.
What is the percentage of the XP penalty?
Its not a fixed %. It probably varies on your level and what killed you. However, most people say it varies around 4%
Is it different in PVP?
Well if your registered in a seige you loose 1/4 of the normal xp on seige grounds. So ~1%
At arena you loose 0%
If your in a war with another clan , if they kill you, you loose 1/4 of normal xp so around 1%
Btw, you cant drop anything if registered in seige on seige grounds or if killed by a member of a clan your in war with
If you are not red, anything other than your equiped weapon has the chance of dropping. How often? Every time you die something has the chance. If you are lucky, nothing drops, if you are unlucky, you lose your armor.
What is the percentage of the XP penalty?
Someone will have to answer the exact percentage, but it changes (goes down) as you level higher.
Is it different in PVP?
Not in regular PvP, but in sieges, if you are signed up it's lower and if you are fighting a declared war. Also, there is arena fighting where the loss is 0%.
Thanks for the input, all. It gives me a better idea of what to expect. My characters are both about level 30 now and both time and item cost are starting to become a factor of sorts, so i wanted to know how reckless and slaphappy i could get with my adventuring.
Was it that bad !?!?
I didnt die very often at those levels, and was never really concerned about lost xp but that looks like alot. Oh well , might be just me, not paying attention at lower levels.
The only other thing to remember is that when you have just leveled and then die it will appear that you lost a larger chunk of XP than the usual percentages. That's because it's apparently a percentage of the current level. So some levels (the level walls, for instance) really hurt lots if you die just after leveling.
