PK on starter islands/villages

Player Questions Started Last reply 40 posts
are people actualy alowed to PK on starter islands/villages? cause in hindemith i have herd and delt with several ppl PKing on TI and other starter villages...
the weirdest part is that they have been reported and Nc hasne done any thing about it...
if it is allow i dont think that it should be cause your JUST STARTING..you have NO chance of even surviveing through 2 shots/nukes/hits and most new players have no idea what is going on and would probably be rather bothered when they loose their newly quested sword or whatever...
You are allowed to kill anyone, anytime, anywhere (except in town), any level you can kill.
if that is the fact..then that is truly sad...one would assume that you wouldnt be able to PK on or around a started village at least for a certin distance or something...just so the new players have a chance..
I understand why you feel this way, however part of the reasoning is that it's up to the player base to deal with this kind of issue and to a large degree now days, that's what happens.

When someone PKs outside a town, if it's known, there is usually someone to come show them the error of their ways. The key is it needs to be known.
i figured id just bring it to attention..personaly ive been out of any starteing villages for some time now but i still feel bad for the little ones that stad no chance :(
Oh it's not even that bad, back in the day there were NO GUARDS just randomly around the newbie areas, so you were really and truly sunk then. At least you can hang around a guard a bit now. You could also drag a town guard far away and they would just stand there and not come back. ie: under the lake under elven village.

I visit noobie areas on a somewhat regular basis and I just dont' find reds any more. It's too bad because I could have some fun.
my brother is the one that made me want to post this some of his new friends have been killed on TI on Hindemith server and im to lazey to switch o my pk hunter...so if u want some fun try there..
Note that PKing on TI is much harder than it used to be due to the multitude of archer guards who wander around out there. Just know where one is and run to them when someone hits you. If you die, at least you know they got a fight out of it.

Yes, there are still sad skill-challenged rejects who kill people 20+ levels lower because thats the best they can do. There is nothing you can do as there is no minimum age for the game. You can feel better knowing they probably died repeatedly to someone 10 levels lower than them, so they had to find someone 20 levels lower.

The good news is that dying as a lowbie has very little sting and the PK will pay at least a little time for his murder in either time or items.
(a full death is what, 5-10 minutes at lowbie levels?)

Just shout their name and location in town and go somewhere else. They will log for awhile like any normal 11-yr-old and then find another target they can actually beat. Eventually someone will squish them, and they will hopefully run to mommy and quit.

No sense getting worked up about it, (don't give them the satisfaction) just calmly announce name and location.
Write the name down btw... revenge is best served cold. Little boys have very short memories and you never know when you will have the opportunity to pay him back and then some.

"I love hitmen... you can do whatever you want to 'em and don't have to feel bad."

Well, I feel your pain and I agree with you. Having said that, before I got the game I read all the reviews and came in knowing the brutality of it. I really had no intention of staying more than a week. Been here since prelude.

It's brutal. It's a brutal game. This game imposes it's gameplay from the very start in order to let people know "what it is about".

Some people thrive on this type of gameplay and others put up with it. Still, others realize it is not for them and move on.

As was mentioned, it used to be a lot worse on TI... much much much worse.
I'm on Kain so that's no help.

Always yell the PKers name and general location, no sense in just yelling OMG GOT PKed. At least around Dion I use to go after them if I knew about where they were.
i've been working on getting the reds from gludin over to floran :P but they keep running from me (dang elf speed)
it was FUN when there were pkers in the noob villages in the prelude/C1mostly becuz they were everywhere and alot weaker lol. Good advice so far, shout "xxx red near xxxx" also, say how much dmg they did compared to your p.def (it helps me figure out if they would hurt me)

if that is the fact..then that is truly sad...one would assume that you wouldnt be able to PK on or around a started village at least for a certin distance or something...just so the new players have a chance..

All starting areas, including Talking Island, have PK-killing guards that teleport randomly throughout the area. On TI, I think they are called 'sentinels.' A red player cannot sit somewhere and wait for victims, since a sentinel will eventually teleport nearby and kill them.

When the red is killed in a starting area, they respawn near Florin. That is a long ways from TI. If the red had over 5 PK's, they have a very good chance of dropping gear upon death.

If you get killed, shout out the player's name. Dark Elven Village often has very high level players passing through, headed for, or returning from, Ascetics or Patriots Necropolii. All folks doing their level 40 class change quests need to return to their starting villages for some of the tasks. Either group may well help you 'cleanse' your area of red players.

Oh, although it is possible to drop gear when you are killed by a red, the actual chance of that is VERRRRRY small; so small as to be nearly zero.
Well, I try and do my part so to speak..as far as preventing the killing of noobs in starter towns...after you leve those though, your fair game, imo....

Just tonight on kain I stopped a party of reds from goingto TI and wrekin limited havoc (nt many people play there anymore)

not with my mighty lvl 30 knight...but with my mighty words. <3
getting killed on my first toon over and over on TI nearly made me quit.
I think I got 'involuntarily deleveled' more than any1 who ever played.
For some reason last January when I started there were roaming duos of mystics who came through every evening when I played...I now know they were in d-grade and probably in their 30's. Needless to say at level 10, then 9, then 10, then 9, then 12, then 11, then 12---I didn't stand a chance (lmao).
I was at my wits end when some guy came along and helped me with great buffs, gave me some pots, and persuaded at least one of the 3 sets of nukers to go somewhere else. If I recall he was "GhostDancer".
I think you've hit the essence of the insanity of it--although it does introduce new players to a brutal game in a sort of brutal way (which ends up being a good thing) it IS very frustrating.
After 7 months it now seems like I was really upset over nothing. At the time? Man was I mad!
that in the long run is my concern...i want actualy players in this game...and when other players that need to get their jollies by killing and then subsiquently makeing them leave the game then what is the point...eventualy there will be only a handful of actual ppl and tha game will die...
a sad and hopefly far off posibility...
Well it's not all that bad. I keep a red toon in a n00bie town to kill bots. Players come near and I am cautious that they don't kill me before they understand why I am there. I PM them and let them know not to worry about me that I am just killing bots. By me doing this I get stress relief and they get their hunting grounds back. Just because a player is red does not mean you should kill them. Killing a red player without knowing why they are red is really n00bish in my opinion. It could turn out that your biting the hand that feeds you.
You CAN NOT... CAN NOT EVER, EVER, EVER drop items when you are killed by another player, IF YOU ARE WHITE, OR FLAGGED

here ill make it easy

White player killed by mob - Chance to drop item(s) in your inventory, and your armor. No chance to drop weapon

White player killed by Flagged player - No chance to drop any item(s)

Flagged player killed by another Flagged player - No chance of dropping ANY item(s)

Red player killed by mob - Chance of dropping item(s) INCLUDING YOUR WEAPON

Red player killed by another red player - Chance of dropping item(s) INCLUDING YOUR WEAPON

Red player killed by a white player - Chance of dropping Item(s) INCLUDING YOUR WEAPON

if anything else besides this happens you need to /gm it cause you will get your items back.
Some of us just don't care and like to kill reds, 'cuz a lot of you are liars and kill real players under the guise of "I was killing bots".

Your statement is true, but causion is still a virtue within a PvP minded game. Observation of a RED player will tell you more about it's true intents then just **** and slash.

I got PKed less than an hour into the game. I'm still here. I guess I'm either persistant or stupid.
Or both? :)
First time I got PK'ed was on my alt around level 25... No one ever notices me ... I'm so ninja :)

Uh huh.

I had barely gotten over the bridge on TI (hadn't even made it into town yet) and whammo. Dead Elro. Didn't know what happened. Didn't know you could kill each other. Had no idea what a "red" was.
Heheh, that's funny :D Not that i knew more when I just started out.
I remember back when I hunted outside Gludin, I'd always see this dark elf with a pink name  I had no idea what that meant, but I did have a feeling that I should be alert of this colour. I asked my boyfriend; "Should I kill her?". He figured I'd better not try... :p
Usually I try to disable them first, depends on if they are famous or not t hough.

Veansa, that's very good news. I was under the impression that if I fought back when a PK attacked, I would chance dropping an item. Since that isn't the case, I'm wondering why I was PK'd at all since there's no chance at all of them getting anything from it.

It's fun killing people.

Yes, although most wannabe-pk'ers (majority of the Reds out there) don't care about fun, they just want to project their Real Life frustration (source(s) not important) into the Virtual World where they can so called "PWNED" lowbies and feel best of the world :)

Yeah, whatever...

ok thats a fair assumption. No red is safe really. I get killed alot on my red. I guess its just how I handle being killed. I was dropped last week outside of gludin after talking with my killer and making a few jokes he picked up all my gear and gave it back but just as he did I lol'd cuz he had de leveled me and someone else came up and said "good your red! you deserve to die!" eh well you cant win the hearts of everyone huh.
been there..on my perma red bot killer (wel over 250k karma :) ) a newb killed me entirely for the drops cause he "needed" armor..well..he called in a higher lvl friend and had me killed i should point out...even though i told him i was a bot hunter and didnt touch him for several minutes while he was grinding around me..o well..after i pmed him and said enjoy the gear and explained that he wont make many friends like that do told me how that was his first toon and all..so i decided to go back with main and gave him Full Top NG gear and some adena for pots and such...
That a Red can't find respect-love-understanding is untrue though. I lvled off my karma on raid bosses with my alt from lvl 35 to 39 and I must say it's not that easy to find raid groups when you are red.

Still, those players understood why i was red, and that I was trying to lvl it off, and I made it. But I never ever take a sin-eater on that char, I am proud on my pk count and my reasoning to get those Pk counts.

Well said..im just to lazey to lvl of karma....my perma red is my 6th alt so ill just delete and start again ^^
It's much easier to kill a red and take care of the problem before a problem starts. If I was red and somebody kills me, I have only myself to blame. I would have done the same thing.

The only time I won't engage a Red is when they are obviously higher lvl than me, or they have lots of friends with them. I usually don't kill them if they look like they are trying to work off the karma as well.

I had a friend who I introduced to L2 ( no longer plays) but he started a Human Fighter for his first char. We were chatting in ventrilo and he asked ,"Hey there's this guy and he's got a red name, Should I kill him?"
So I ask him, "Well what level are you?"
"I'm level 3"
"Well, you can try if you like, but you may just want to try and avoid him since he's probably gotcha beat"

10 minutes later he says...
"OMG I just got PK'ed."
"Hmmm, should have tried to kill him instead."

Moral of the story? Kill or be killed.
Theres actually no way to tell what level i am. Unless you actually know me here or in game. A nuker saw me running through AC a few days ago and decided he would kill me..I saw him casting his spell. Then it hit me. 1 Damage! Then he starts running away from me. Humans cant out run me. So I run up beside him. One of his friends tells me to leave. I explained to them what I was doing and they buffed me. Well I decide to run up to OB to have a look. Nothing there. On my way back I see another nuker. A DE this time. She does the same thing. Nukes me for 1 damage and runs. It was pretty funny stuff. I wear NG so assuming my level in game could be a deadly mistake.
SirE...this is funniest post I've read in awhile! Thanks.

I had similar experience--starting game not having read a single thing about it and with no guide (Lmao).

I am only guessing at numbers of pks my poor human fighter sufferred. I know I got killed a couple times at lvl 3 and 4, more times before 10. I know I had to get back to lvl 10 three times. I was killed a bunch of times between lvl 12 and 15 and also had to reach lvl 20 three times.
That toon, now a DA at 50, continues to attract death. Before we left last alliance, he was killed at level 46 and 48 about 4 times in a little over a week.
If I was realistically guessing....I'd say that toon has been pk'd 20 times or more.
Curiously dying from other players has caused me to change a lot! At first I was spitting mad (after the confusion cleared...lol). Then I was annoyed.
Now? Blah.
I don't have the toons to really defend myself anyway. A DA in c-grade dies quickly against a nuker in B-grade. No sense getting all worked up about it.
Last time an alt got pk'd we took 3 of our "mains" back, allowed the pk'er to bring back his main----and all 3 of us promptly got slaughtered by one guy (lmao).
That was 1 da at 50, one glad at 54, and one bladedancer at 56--all dead.
I've decided that I don't have the skill to kill another player apparently under any circumstances. I'm about half convinced that if I took an archer in D-grade to TI all the noobies would kill me then too!
Some folks are good at pvp--some are good at pve. I'm still hoping to be good at something (pretty sure pvp aint it).
At high levels a red is usually left alone, in areas where they belong (like, no TI or Gludin).

But I've had my fair share of "bot killing" reds try to nuke/arrow the heck out of me even though I was yelling and obviously not a bot.

yea man..same here...but the problem also is that you have to trust ppl and in a virtual world how credible can there words be :/ saddly most ppl dont trust one another
I got PK'd on my alt dwarf 2 days ago.... it was cool though cause the guy had a good reason. The Dialogue went like this:

Me: O.o?
Him: I come here to PK
Me: ><
Him: Cya.

LOL Yeah I had some idiot called Hooligan that smacked my lvl 63 Destroyer at the entrance to Dragon Valley. So I started to chase him around (fast little archer) and layed a crush of doom on him. Enough to scare him. Then I asked why he hit me and he said "it's clear that you're botting."
"What?!? Why do you think that?"
"Because you aren't using any sould shots and you only attack shackles, and you don't respond wghen I said 'Hi'"

Well I didn't respond because I was in ally chat and couldnt see white chat, I only killed shackles because only they drop the silver unicorn that i needed, I didnt use SS cause it's kind of stupid to use A grade SS on dark blue mobs.

So when it was time for me to go I gave a friendly, "cya later, its all yours" to which he responded "bye botter" and some other insults as well. Some people are just ******s.

#1 way to pick out a good old newb....The obvious lack of common sense :D
