I made a Dwarf and took polearms. I've been pumping points into Wild Sweep but I am not sure what it does. One description that I read said it knocks mobs down. Another said it hits multiple mobs.
In normal usage of my ploearm, if I get two mobs next to each other, I hit both at the same time on a good number of swings.
Where's a site or section with current info on polearms and the associated skills?

Wild Sweep is just an extra skill like you would use stun or power strike or mortal blow or power shot or...well you got the point I hope.
I used pole's on my dwarf and I never felt the need to use that special skill, takes too long to cast and you don't hit that much harder with it.
I remember my first dwarf I assumed it was a skill to go with spoil festival so you could sweep the mobs all at one time. I figured it was a very logical conclusion and that if they will let you spoil 15 mobs at a time it makes sense to let you sweep them the same way.
Then I learned that L2 doesnt follow logic and 5 chronicles later I am still shift clicking :(

That shift clicking thingy has let me decide to abandon my pole after lvl 40, it's just not interesting anymore now my Scavenger has become a Bounty Hunter.
"next to nothing that the pole doesn't already do".
A dwarf with a pole in a cata or in the ants nest or where ever is a fun thing.
It's fun cause of the hitpoints dwarves carry and the damage a pole does....dwarves don't have skills that help fight/hunt (okay, so "stun" with a blunt works....but that's the only one).
The REAL answer to your question is----it sweeps around and hits the mobs within reach....slightly harder than a regular swing but not as hard as a crit.
It's VERY MUCH like the one sword skill that fighters get...it is a waste of time/mana.
Melee specials are pretty sad overall (at least with humans and dwarves).
Wild sweeper is an arc attack that hits multiple mobs (if they are in the arc). You hit every mob individually with specified power. It's approximately equal to your current polearm hit without soulshots, but you add normal hit to this. That is, in general you do 130% damage of soulshot-charged polearm swing.
There is no possibility for critical hits for skill. That is, you never crit with it. Not a big deal, really.
There is no possibility to miss as well. It's a useful feature for polearm-start attack. In order to keep mobs agression on your dwarf and prevent them from turning to your healer you have to hit every mob once (unless they are social and you have a big bunch of them) prior to first heal. Wild sweeper helps here.
The rage for the skill is lower than for normal polearm reach range. Sometimes you can hit mob with your polearm for a long time, but if you turn to it and use wild sweeper your character can make another step toward the mob. Be careful!
There is a possibility for overhit. That's good way to finish mobs if you want more experience. Nothing special.

You can make a macros like that:
1. /useshortcutstand x y (put /nexttarget command in your shortcut bar)
2. sweeper
It works good enough if your spoil festival works. If you don't spoil a mob, it's body will make difficulties, but for lower-level mobs it's unlikely.
