The Manor, And Why You Can't

General Discussion Started Last reply 58 posts
You can't do it because there aren't enough seeds for everyone, and the buyback ratio does not reflect the amount of seeds produced.

You can not not do it because of bots or pro farmers: If a few people manage to hand in for the seed you were just trying and you didn't get any seeds, you got beaten by other players, not just by bots.

You can not not do it because of RL or game obligations. Find a friend who is on at the time, or commission someone to hand in for you.

You can not not do it because there's no up to date guide. The manor manager has all the info you need.

Thank you, have a nice day!

not just by bots.

But mostly its just "those guys", you cannot beat them anymore, this changed recently afaik.
If you manor the seeds that "those people" don't, you can still make a pretty good penny. It's certaintly not as good as being able to manor the exact mats you want, but it is better than nothing. I've made 3 mil on my level 30 alt thanks to manoring coal.
You don't have a counterpoint to the first one listed. Is there one?
maline arent you the one who taught me some tricks on the manor? The past few weeks I have made over 20k varnish and 20k animal bone...if you are on bartz maybe I have been stopping you from cashing in O.o!!! Also I have been buying all the chilly cobol from giran so no one can have it and i just end u selling it to the npc :(

EDIT: forgot to mention this is elvenkingdom, forgot I switched usernames to my other account ;d
I still have problems wrapping my head around it. It's hard to tell if the buyback price is a scam, I still don't get the relation between buyback price and mats gained which makes it hard to figure out if it's worth it.
I once bought some seeds for 200a each which had a buyback of 750, and for 200 seeds I got mats worth a total of 50k market price. That was a 10k profit for like half a day's work killing monsters with no drops.
If you sell Varnish to the NPC you get 125a. That means its base value is 250a (NPCs buy at 50% value). If the Manor buyback is at 500a you will get 2 Varnish. See how it works?
Varnish is 200 actually, as far as I can remember.

LC666, I have had some problem buying red coda, but that was because I got greedy and ******ed. It's no problem now.

Jute, if you read the first one, you will notice that it is missing one not - that is the reason people actually can't; there aren't enough seeds for all legit players who hold an interest because NCSoft got silly.

I have had some problem buying red coda

Then its because the "others" aren't buying any. Red coda is not bought out as much on our server either, but then again its a timeconsuming crop.
ROFL I seem to know plenty of players doing successful manors as of yesterday including myself. "they others" aren't a problem, it's other real players and too few fruit allowed to be bought. Every day a player or two has to wait til the next with his fruit and that carries over.
Maline, I did catch that, just wanted to make sure that was what you meant since the rest of the post seemed to be about refuting people's reasons to not do the manor.

Also...can someone explain to me the whole buyback (very slowly because the manor makes me stupid).

How do I calculate whether something is a good price? I understand the 2x value thing..but what if the buyback is 300 on varnish? Or 500? How many would I get in those cases.

Also, How do you know what's a good seed price?

I thought that for a while too but one day there were no bots at any of the manor location. I was able to turn in all my chilly cobol and got almost 15k animal bone. So at 8:06pm cst it really is mostly bots with a few normal players even though I would like to believe otherwise.

This shows me that bots run a lot of it and almost all real players dont even try since I was able to get almost all of the rewards that day for chilly cobol and varnish reward.
Then either you don't have "them" turning them in or they simply haven't discovered the new features. Because there's no way in hell you can buy the seeds within miliseconds.
Read: Red Coda is the only thing I have had trouble with. Things I haven't had trouble with? Gone a bit rusty with seed names, but the animal bone chilly, the varnish golden, the sea codran, the RMP seed from Goddard...

And no, I'm not logging onto bartz again just to demonstrate that it's not because Devianne is a "scrub server".

elvenaura, have a look at Goddard sometime - when I went there, I usually found Gaolifeng and her goon (of course), but also two or three Devilstar people, two or three Covs and Thisson.

With seeds, it makes a huge difference whether even one or two players decide not to do a seed - for example the chilly cobol you mention, I can easily pull in a few thousand seeds of that in one sitting if I stay a few hours.

PS: Jute, the rewards are calculated as
[buyback price]*[crop number]/[NPC value of mat] = resulting materials

Buyback price can be checked at the manager, crop number is how much you hand in, and the NPC value is twice what the NPC buys it for (can also be checked as the "database price" or similar on many fansites).
I am confused at what you are trying to convey to me Maline...who is redstar and whatever else you are talking about? Are you trying to say these are legit clan players or its some bot clan or? I cant tell if you're saying that there are too many bots or there are players turning in seed.

Also, for goddard range I do believe that real players do turn in a lot of the high level seed. I just wanted to clarify that point.

Then either you don't have "them" turning them in or they simply haven't discovered the new features. Because there's no way in hell you can buy the seeds within miliseconds.

There are certainly bots nearby, but they all spam the best manor return first. If you click in that split second to return to the 2nd best or an equal but different one (and this takes guesswork) you can often beat them with ease. As for buying seeds, I've never had an issue there but once.
I understand per Loth's post about how buyback is calculated. I was more wondering about rounding. How does it deal with 1.5 or 2.33, etc.?

Play on teon or don't complain about events on NA timed servers.

Play on teon or don't complain about events on NA timed servers.

Sir, yes sir. :p

Of course the other countries that use the NA based servers would like to have a better timing for the Manor System as well.

So why not have a manor system that resets twice a day? That way, most people could find a timing that is more convenient for them.
Remembering my own time seeding on Alligator Island I was getting two or even three fruit per Farhite/Nos Lad. I do believe that buyback ammount should be somewhere around two to three times the number of seed sold. What is the usual buyback? 1:1?
Manor system resetting twice a day would harm all legit players trying to hand in, including the ones who couldn't do it before - because they still wouldn't be able to afterwards, but they wouldn't have the option of a commissioned hand-in left.

How come you only know people from a single time zone, I must wonder? For that matter, how come you don't know any from that time zone that stay up at odd hours?

I'm in MET, and I did some of the manor hand-ins and buy recommendations for one of my clans, and of course my own. It's gotten more difficult since the times moved, certainly, but it's far from impossible.

PS: Rnya, it's approximately 1:1.1 - but as you note, pitifully low for the amount of seeds being generated. The caps on buyback and selling are seriously mind-boggling.

Well...8pm cst is pretty good for just about any area in north and south america. It gets a bit tough at the west coast but otherwise its fine. Well, two server reset times is alright but if ones 12 hours later it just seems to give a small group of players a much better advantage. Just like event spawns at 12pm cst and 8pm cst...the 12pm cst people get a huge advantage because there is much less people on at that time.
The problem isn't giving everyone on the server the same chances (the 24 h reset was certainly designed for the mostly-in-one-timezone players of Korea), but the fact that lowered total quantities force you to be there for both hand-ins to have chances at getting the same amount of crops sold, and that's still lower than with one big hand-in.
Like I said, then they are not buying all of them or have simply not noticed the new feature.
Well you know what they say about trusting people who you cannot walk over to to punch them in the nose if they stsrt doing weird things.

But most of my friends are european and yes a few are form the states but as I hardly see them I wouldnt consider them friends. Let alone trust them with a lot of cash.

Telling me that it would be unfair for the people that have more then a year manor system to share with the brethern who have not been so lucky (any idea how many euros there are on your server for instance?) by splitting the amount sold ove two resets instead of 1 is not a legitimate argument in my book.

The fact of the biased settings nowadays is one of the reasons that many people dont use the manor system and thats a fact.
LC: Red Coda is a highly popular farmer and alt and newbie seed. No, it's not about them noticing or not - it's just about them not being faster.

One manor handin is hardly a lot of cash - not enough to ruin your reputation over at any rate. It's not unfair to share with YOU - it's unfair to force more legit players out of the manor system in a way that advantages farmers significantly more than real players. You make it harder to get any mats out of the manor for everyone, including yourself, if you introduce two hand-ins. It would be far easier just to find someone who can stay up ocassionally, or find a reliable commissioner, than to give everyone an equal chance at ... failing the manor.

I'm a euro myself, as I said - that definitely can't be the reason you're not managing. Asians, who have to be at work or at school during the manor reset time, have it far worse than people missing a couple of hours of sleep.
Red Coda is ok available on my server, you can buy it without much trouble, but the buyback rate is lousy.

Anyway, if they know what they're doing, then you can't be faster than them, thats simply not possible anymore, other than maybe one sheer stroke of luck.
Maybe it's changed in the few weeks that I've gone to RO, but I doubt it - people have been saying it's impossible to beat the bots to the manor handin since C3, and it wasn't true then either.

I'll reconfirm this probably on Sunday, buy and resell some seeds just to try.

Maybe it's changed in the few weeks that I've gone to RO

It did, bigtime. As far as I am told, a whole new section got added just for auto-buy/sell in manor very very fast. (we're talking miliseconds fast) Unlike the old ones where they had to use scripts to do it which were around the same speed as a fast player at best.

Its still slightly possible, but extremely unlikely against one thats set up properly.
I do manor but i cant trade in most time.
The manor reset is for me at 3 am. For a normal person that works its near impossible to trade in / buy the good seeds and not be tired the next day.
Even if i stay up i will have no gurantee that i will be able to trade in the seeds. So its not worth the efford. Remember this is a game not a stressmaker.
The only times i try is on weekends while i can stay up then so i have 2 trys per week.
I do play since prelude on Gustin when there even was no Teon server.
As the manor system is now its extremly unfair for most players. If u have luck you can trade in if not wait till the next day for others wait another week.
Its also extremly easy to control the manor if u have money to spend and helpers so that you can get a monopole for some seeds.

In the end the manor as it is now dont even help much lower prices its more a gamble if u hit the jackpot or not.
As for me i wont complain it helped me a lot in the past for crafting but its still far away from beeing perfect for all players.
Woot just tried to turn in my crops AGAIN... was there early, all set to go and guess what... the 5 other "players" there beat me to it. Manor is ridiculous.....
gosh i really need to read up on this manor system. Its been explained to me 3 times and im still totally lost @.@
All I know is I don't bot and I have finally mastered the Manor sytem and it has made me a lot of money. So much money that if I can find someone to duo with I will seed with them and split the fruit 50/50 or go find bots and skip getting XP and seed of their mobs. Its awesome once you get into it.

My only problem is that 3 nights of the week I am at work and can't turn in seeds. Then the other nights I sometimes forget to set my alrm :(

Woot just tried to turn in my crops AGAIN... was there early, all set to go and guess what... the 5 other "players" there beat me to it. Manor is ridiculous.....

*shrug* i went there tonight, opened my computer clock, turned in 1500 chilly cobol and got 3500 or so animal bone I dont know what to tell you.
I don't recall asking for anything. You don't even play on my server.

I don't recall asking for anything. You don't even play on my server.

lol whats your problem? You made a general statement to which I replied with my success showing that it is very possible and I play on the second most populated NA server, bartz.
I don't have a problem. Seems to me this is a thread about why you can't manor? Or am I not able to read?

Btw I play on Kain. A very populated server, and I've been here a lot longer than you.
Perhaps you have, I have two accounts and this ID was just created yesterday. I have been playing for about a year and a half and obviously since you cannot turn in seeds longevity doesnt equal skill. This thread may be about why people cannot manor but my posts are to show peole can manor and they can be hugely succesful in doing so. If thats hard for you to swallow, thats just too bad.
Nowhere did I say that it can't be done. I said I couldn't do it and why. Read carefully next time. I can admit when I can't do something, so obviously it's not "hard for me to swallow."

There's really nothing skillful about being at the right NPC at the right time on the right server which doesn't happen to have bots nearby with macros tuned to the millisecond. That so many people have completely different results when using the manor is testament to the fact that the current manor system is not ideal. Yes, it is possible to manor, but something that should be a straightforward addition to the grind is instead a web of problems.
I manor quite nicely on Kain...never really had a problem...sure, a few times I missed out but thats usually just cause im eatin ice cream or playin with my kids and show up late ^^

patience is key!

While it may not be hard for you to admit you cant do something the part that seems hard for you to swallow is that someone else can who is not a bot. I was in the same scenario, 4 random name no clan players who didnt talk were turning in fruit and all of it was sold out within a second. I just want others to understand it can be done and how I do it. I had a very hard time at first but then I just lowered my amounts, made sure my clock was precisely synched with an exact online clock etc. I just dont want people getting totally discouraged when I know it is quite possible and plausible to use the manor to help them stay legit thats all. Maline actually helped me with some tips at the beginning when I was frustrated and thats why I wanted to participate in his/her thread and am curious as to why she/he is so frustrated at this point.
Here is another tip I want to provide. Almost all people are focused on selling seeds at the manor at the time change. This means the seeds are wide open to buy most of the time for the first few seconds. If you take a few days and buy all of the seed you are trying to turn in, your chances will go up a fair amount for trying to turn them in (at least this has been my experience). You may feel bad buying the seeds and just reselling them to the npc or warehousing them but it does help.
I really don't care wether or not you are able to turn in your crops. If you can fantastic for you. If not, I feel your pain.

I happen to be turning in a crop that has a high demand for the reward. Poor, poor me that the scripts are faster than me. Especially when my entire screen is filled with "Manor is undergoing maintainance" and then is sold out. I know exactly when and how to turn in my crops.

Because a select few can turn in crops does not mean the system works. If you have bought the seeds, you should be able to turn in the crops.

I dont have a problem with crops being equal to the amount of mats available but only in the sense that 1 mob = 1 fruit and not multiplying the amount available by 7 or 8. Then again I am sure you dont care what I think and they wont really change it anyway since it works pretty well in korea the way it currently is.

Also, if they just made 7x more crops the certian players would just buy all the seed before anyone else could and then sell their crops so it would just be the same situation.
Jute, all manor seems to round down.
When manoring for expensive items its easy to turn in a few fruit and get absolutely nothing.
People are indeed argueing for your last point gnome, but it's not "a select few" who can turn in.

By your description, I know you're going about the hand-in the wrong way, so try to stick with the description elvenaura provided and see how it works for you. As a clock, I find the radio clock from uhrzeit.org to work really nicely.

Also remember that if you find yourself clicking too early after the minute, you can buffer your sales in a double-click by pulling another window's removal link over the OK - be it the seed buy window's OK, or the manor manager's "cancel".

PS: If the manor wasn't about some degree of applied knowledge (i.e. skill), the same people would not keep failing or succeeding consistently.

I agree 100% that whatever you bought should be returned. The extra seeds you get while farming should be a bonus for whatever the manor will give you. But as we all know thats is not how it works. I gave up on the manor a very very long time ago. Even though I made money, I will not take the chance that I get beat by a 3rd party program. I should be able to walk up to the NPC and sell my items without regard to whoever else is buying or selling at the time.

What would be nice if the regular NPCs will buy your seeds back at whatever the going rate is at the time. Then we wont have to stand around and a given time but just do our selling when it is convenient to us. But nooooo thats too easy a solution and NCSoft would never think of something so simple.
Regular NPCs do buy back the seeds - at a slight loss. Maybe they should be usable by scavengers to extract some materials, so as to put both a base minimum on what the Manor Lord can expect to buy them back from and to train the surplus - but in all honesty, even if you don't manage to sell one night, there's always the next.

PS: Gnome's complaint is not the same as yours. She's angry that you have to poke around to find the right way to hand in when it resets, not that it resets at all, or that's what I gathered.

You can't do it because there aren't enough seeds for everyone, and the buyback ratio does not reflect the amount of seeds produced.

Glad to see you found some common sense.

Indeed, the Buyback is crap.

You were flaming us when we were saying it.
Kinda like we were too noob to figure it out, and that you were never beaten by bots when trying to sell back...
When whe shouldn't have to compete in the first place due to the time factor and if a proper ratio was in place.
Welcome to the club.

Ch-Ch-Ch-Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes...
Oh, I do very rarely get beaten by bots when I try to sell back - in fact, so few people use the manor right now that the point doesn't really hold true at all. I've been able to do all my handins within one or two days this chronicle. ^_~ Except the Red Coda, which took me two days to figure out I shouldn't be greedy on and which I then bought at a much lower quantity.

For a single person, it holds true that you CAN do it under the current circumstances, and the whole whining about bots is just BS. For the collective, there is too little. But the collective isn't active, now is it?

And oh - I'm all FOR the competition. I just think having a way to drain the excess seeds out of the market would be good, namely by means of a randomised scavenger skill.

I will still happily flame anyone who claims that they "can" not currently do the manor, unless a few hundred of you start trying at the same time. The only possible reason is the buyback cap, and that's really not a major concern with how few people are manoring, if you don't go dumb and greedy - or if you're, like gnome, not bothered to figure out how to do it.

So you can flame back because the manor is just BS in this state.

The low buyback ratio makes it impossible to sell back. Period.
I can't be awake at night to cash in and won't force friends to have the burden of competing with sellback bots.

So yes I 'can' manor. But I can't sell back.

It's just screwed and blatantly horribly designed.

(and it's 'at night' because I believed Devhrin when he promised server transfers. And no I wasn't about to reroll 4 50+ toons to Teon back then, which is a good thing seeing how that server is crowded.)
Maline - How about before you flame someone you experience the conditions on their server. Someone on Hindemith could easily tell me I was dumb if I were to pay 6 million for an Avadon Circlet and just wait until the market is lower. Prices on Erica however would say that with current conditions, that would be an incredible buy.

I've found the Gnome to be both and incredibly skilled player and a smart person. It's wonderful that you are the manor goddess but conditions are not the same on all servers. If she's trying to turn in a popular fruit and there is a group of others present, chances are good she's going to have an issue.

Logic says everyone can't all turn their stuff in and you claim you always get yours in. This would mean if someone like you were there on her server, she would be unlikely to beat them since you seem to have the 'golden' touch.
If they reduce the number of seeds able to be sold it would make it far to easy for someone who can buy really really fast to simply buy the seeds out each day.

At least, as it stands a player can usually get some seeds and do their best to get them turned in, it's aggravating as hell, but try enough times and you can get them in.

On the subject of people using a third party proggie to farm seeds.. hehe find those tool and play a game of choo choo.. then you get to turn in thier crops with little or no competition.

The nice thing about seeding is that it's pretty easy to figure out what areas to look for the seed users. ;)
Miz: You say you could, and then you say you can't - in short, you are too lazy and very much could. It's quite fine if a game system isn't worth using to you, but that doesn't mean it's broken. A simple example: Parties are not worth using to me, but they still exist, and they're not BS, and they're not broken. The manor system could use some fixing up, but it is not as broken as people attempt to make it out to be.

Jute, I'm not the "manor goddess", nor do I claim to be. I'm one of many, just unlike many others, ****** off about the naysayers. Plenty of castle lords have more of a clue than me, plenty of clans are more organised in manoring than the ones I have been in, and the unfortunately no longer playing astrozombie of Devianne was far more into even the analytical sides of gains than I will ever be.

Maybe YOU shouldn't try to blame people of blaming others of things if you don't know where my statement came from - because Gnome said something that makes me 100% sure that she's handing in wrong, regardless of server or not: She said she's getting a maintenance message, which she would not be saying if she knew how to hand in - or rather, which she would not frequently be seeing (I see it four times every hand in, but only because I need to keep my hands busy).

The last time someone told me my server situation was different, I came over and handed in for them, gave them a short talk-through, and they have been manoring happily since. That was Bartz. I've also manored for competed seeds on Lionna and Devianne (although Lionna was during C3), I've been a naysayer and I have been cured.

Yes, logic dictates that she might get a problem. I have absolutely no doubt. But she is not at the point where she's getting a problem with competition, she's at a point where she has a problem doing her hand in the right way.

Is the EE a weak 1v1 PvP class? Certainly. Regardlessly, if I lose a battle while playing an EE, I won't be losing because of its weak status, but because I am the worst PvPer between Goddard and Talking Island. That's the spot gnome is in now.
It's futile to argue with you about this because you are so convinced of your superiority and your correctness, so I will bow out of this. But why the superior attitude and the hostility?

Perhaps instead of saying 'you are stupid because you are doing this wrong', you might say 'I think the problem is that you are handing in too early. You have to wait for the precise time and if you get the manor busy messages you are doing it too early. Try practicing a few nights so you can find the exact time and a clock that you can time it exactly on and use it as your guide. After a few days of trying, you will more than likely be able to hit the right moment.'
Yet you just admitted that you hadn't tried it under the new system, did you PM the "others" and asked if they had set themselves up right as well? Sometimes new superfeatures gets added and the "others" don't notice it for months (luckily for us)
