So whats your record on enchanting and crafting?

Myself?

Enchanting: 4/4

Crafting: 1/4

How about you guys?
Enchanting: 0/0
Crafting: 0/0

I've never been at a point where failing to enchant or craft wouldn't set my character back a grade. Until my adena tree sprouts I don't think I'll be doing either.
enchant 0/1
craft 2/2 :D
OE 0/3 (failed 3 times going +3 to +4)
Crafting 0/0
Crafting 1/2
OEing weapons above 4: 2/3
Crafting 0/0
OE'ing 1/2

Haven't tried to craft anything that could fail as i'm not to A grade yet. But my First OE experience I got a Mithril Dagger to +5 and I was so happy and got over confident. Tried to OE my Emi Bow and it blew up trying to go to +4 :( Then I was so so sad. Had to sell the Mithril dagger to replace my broken confidence/bow. Good times....
oe = 2/4
craft o/o

i've gotten both things to +5 (one weapon and one suit), I've had both failures at +3 trying to go to +4.

My clanmate oe's everything...has better rate and gets fewer failures through +5 than anyone I know.
Guess some folks r just lucky.
I had a fantastic crafting streak. I decided to take this and try to make a +10 homu since I got one to +8 I was feeling good.

Started with
+6 homu
+6 homu
+6 homu
+4 homu
+8 homu

I felt the odds were in my court.

+6 blew right away
+6 blew right away
+6 blew right away
+8 blew right away
+4 made to +5 blew going to 6

It was quite devastating and completely ruined me financially from all the crafting and crushing I had done to get those. Oh well, move on is all I could do.
11/17 enchanting...although I honestly feel I have "luckier" characters....Dwarf was 10/13, my SH is 0/3, BD 1/1, soon going to try on my OL and SE.

However, I have never been able to get past +5 on my dwarf :(
16 successful crafts from 19 for 60% (84% success rate for me) (failed doom helmet, doom gloves, and tallum blade)
8 successful crafts from 11 for 70% (72% success rate for me) (failed tat ring, and 2 maj earrings)
and 2 successful OEs from 2 on a D weap lol

I've been lucky.. especially with 60%.
well ive succceded one maj necklace.....and failed 3 maj ring =/.

took a homu to +5 and dual nm*nm to +5
Never crafted, but i OE a lot.

Just a list of what i made "and blew"

+4 SLB *sold*
+4 SLS*tsu *sold*
+7 DS *blown*
+5 DS *blown*
+9 SoL *sold*
+6 homu *blown*
+7 glaive *blown*
+6 107s *blown*
+6 mithril dagger *blown*

Thats not counting +5 and +4 dgrade weapons >.<
Dunno how you are counting the Enchants...

1/7 A Grade Crafts.
2 min ago i just failed my 4th ring.

,,!,,
Rings? :o Who cares, really? :p My fails were Maj Helmets and necklaces... :(
I care
Enchant 4/31
Craft 30/45
4/31 o.O

Jeeeeeez
Almost as bad as me :)
I've lost track of my enchanting record...I'm currently +12 on my tsu*sls, and I haven't tried anymore, I can't risk losing it at this point.

In terms of of Crafting jewels I am 5/9 on the Majestic Jewel set [failed 4 TIMES!! it took me until level 71 to get the whole set]

In terms of crafting weapons, I'm 3/3... I've crafted:

Dragon Grinders [sold]
Sword of Miracles [going to sell]
and...
Draconic Bow!!! [Sold Dragon Grinders to get rec]

screenies on my blog (http://aleenaresron.blogspot.com) since the Draconic Bow and SoM I just made this past week.
Crafting:
Majestic Necklace Failed
Majestic Ring Succeeded

OEing:
+7 Tarbar (waiting to sell)
+6 Tarbar kaboom
+8 Bone Breaker (in-use)
+8 Bone Breaker kaboom
+3 Bone Breaker kaboom
2 full sets of +5 Elven Jewelry, 8 pieces crystallized during the process

I'm too cheap to OE anything above D-grade.
I gave up OE'ing for lent. However:
Majestic Plate - Successful
Majestic Boots - Successful
Majestic Ring - Successful
Majestic Ring - Failed
Majestic Gloves - Successful
Overenchanting

34 attempts, 23 successes, done on 16 different weapons
The highest I've gone is to +7

Crafting

Too many attempts to catalog. I've done 50+ 60% craft attempts, mostly B grade. I'm listing only my A grade 60/70% craft attempts (which are painful to think about). I probably missed some.

Dasparion Staff: 1 success, 2 failures :(
Soul Bow: 1 failure :( :( :(
Majestic: 2 success, 3 failure
Phoenix: 1 success, 2 failure
Tallum robes: 2 success, 0 failures
DC shields: 2 success, 0 failures

Needless to say, lately I've been making and selling VoP and Mithril Alloy to stockpile adena. I'll probably buy my next A weapon. 1 out of 4 attempts at A weapons has really soured me on weapon crafting.
Enchanting: 3/9
Crafting: 1/1

Everything I try to OE breaks at +4 or +5.. I managed to get a DS to +6 once, then broke 5 trying again, got one to +5 and gave up on OEing.. But it seems Ive been lucky on crafting, huh? Crafted a BW tunic thats worth 30 mil on my server for 10 mil.. Not bad at all.. I just hope I dont fail my next 5.. :)
I have lost count of the overenchants. A couple of weeks ago I enchanted my 5th weapon to +16 or higher, and I'm eerily close to doing it again with a +13 BOP that I crafted and enchanted from +0. I enchant anything and everything that I get my hands on, with a very high degree of enchant success (speculate around 70 - 80%). Part of that success is knowing when to stop. Sometimes +4 is all you need to turn a decent profit.

As for crafts, let's see...

60% craft succeed: ~35, counting A and B grade recipes
60% craft fail: 14, and all painful
OE: 1/9
only 1 item to +4 and there it stays.

Craft: 0/6
Something has to be done for A grade crafting. It is completely unaffordable even for a lvl 75+.
Blew up two mithril daggers and one light crossbow trying to go to +4

Just yesterday I decided to throw away an obscene (for me) amount of money to try again and got my Crossbow to +5

If you're talking about your stats on a private server, dont bother they dont count because there isnt any real risk. If you made 5 16+ weapons I am suprised I havent heard of you but I could be mistaken.

I have never played on PTS, let alone a private server.

This is all on Devianne, and with rare exception, I try to keep a low profile. Those that know me have seen the weapons: +16 Knight*Elven duals, +17 Homunkulus', +16 Kris, +16 Emi, +16 Calibur*SLS. I think the D grade duals are still somewhere floating around the server -- they are the only ones that I felt comfortable selling. The Calibur*SLS are on my BD at the moment, but the others are all pink mist. I usually go for the record after I've upgraded or get bored playing a character. So far the BD seems like a good fit.
Add to that 6 or 7 +16 or > Homonkulus Swords with Acumen on BARTZ server. (3 of which I have seen firsthand at the same time on 3 different characters selling in Giran). 1 +16 Dual SLS and 3 more +16 or > D grade weapons which may or may not be the same ones you listed above. Who knows how many more +16 or > weapons are out there?

But what is really starting to get ridiculous is the fact that there are so many on the servers? I mean aren't they supposed to be rare and hard to achieve? WTH is going on now that everyone seems to be holding +10 or > weapons like its so **** common?

I chalk it up to the fact that more people are trying their hand at it. That coupled with the odds of a successful enchant being fairly high percentage-wise explains all of the OE'd weapons.

I can't get anyone from L2 to confirm this, but I remember the days of C1 and enchanting was never this easy. Everyone insists that enchant success rate is now and has always been ~66%, but if you talk to all of the enchanters who were around back in C1, we'll all tell you to a man that we don't believe that is the case. It was much harder to get to +4, let alone +19 -- which is the highest enchant that I've seen personally.
well somethings changed for sure. Its ridiculous that there are so many +16 or > weapons on the server. Literally stupid. I mean what is the point of having regular weapons now? Not to mention that most of those OE'd weapons are waaaaay waaaaay overpriced and targetted to people who you know what.
The game has been around for over two years, it would be weird if there weren't plenty of +16 weapons floating around. Considering the prices of some boss jewelry it's not surprising that some people would rather spend a few hundred million attempting to overenchant a weapon to insane levels.
Look, most of those people who have those insane amounts are players are NOT regular players. They are either HUGE CLANS or Farmers or the E-word. These people sell targetted toward these buyers, NOT the regular consumers. No friggin way a normal player who has accrued that much wealth the LEGIT way will blow it like that. I would know.
I'm not really sure what you're trying to say here. What does the sell price of +16 weapons have to do with more being present in the market? I had a clanmate that enchanted a bonebreaker to +10 in C2, she made a mint off of that and she was just a regular player. She wasn't an ebayer or farmer, she was just a very lucky compulsive overenchanter. If people will pay a lot you sell it for a lot, it's as simple as that. Some people are lucky enough to turn overenchanting into a full fledged business.
Overenchanting: 0/4 :(
60% crafts: 4/6
70% crafts: 5/6

I have bad OE luck by the looks :S

lol, look man if you ever tried overenchaning you'll know quickly that its NOT viable for normal players. Its just takes too much **** $$$. Its like gambling, in the long run, you dont win. People who are mostly compulsive OEers have either a HUGE clan backing their habbit or are compulsive Ebayers.
Hmm Rangur on Hindemith ended up with before blowing

+18 BOP
+16 DS

He definately didn't have money to blow, but a healthy income like myself. I could easily take a BOP to +16 if I got ridiculously lucky and had success on my third try like he did. To be honest I think the odds are around 66%. If you knew Prelude, you could enchant items in a shop, and it wouldn't consume or actually enchant, just tell you fail/success. 66% means 1/2000 attempts would make it to +18. That sounds about on target to me.

Look, most of those people who have those insane amounts are players are NOT regular players. They are either HUGE CLANS or Farmers or the E-word. These people sell targetted toward these buyers, NOT the regular consumers.

Key word is "most," and I tend to agree with you. I have an enchant business and you can tell the non-legit buyers just by talking to them. These days it's rare for me to sell a weapon that is higher than +7. I usually stop at around +5 or +6 to sell it. Going higher entails greater risk, along with a dramatic increase in price that may not suit the budgets of the normal player. Oddly enough the market for "non-traditional players" or "E-word" types as you call them is probably the most lucrative. But I'd rather sell a hundred +4 or +5 weapons to normal players than one +16 weapon to a non-traditional player. Fortunately I've made enough adena over the years to have the luxury of conscience.

No friggin way a normal player who has accrued that much wealth the LEGIT way will blow it like that. I would know.

I know differently. It really is possible for a legit player to accrue mass quantities of wealth in the enchant business. After all the odds of one successful overenchant is better than crafting a 60% A or B grade recipe -- and look how many legit people have 60% craft items, and businesses.

lol, look man if you ever tried overenchaning you'll know quickly that its NOT viable for normal players. Its just takes too much **** $$$. Its like gambling, in the long run, you dont win.

Those who consistently win at gambling are those who know when to stop. That and a big win can fund the habit for a long long time, as is the case with overenchanting. Even in the case of someone losing in the long run, they've still released a +16 weapon on the server even if they no longer have the cash from it.

In the long run many do lose...but there are certainly lucky [Censored] that do nothing but profit from it. They simply win so big some time that it blows your mind. For that one guy, 1,000,000 others fail, but there are still people who win big and just happen to have been lucky.

YOu nailed it right on the head. This is why the current OE system ****** so many people off. Because its depends PURELY on LUCK. It should depend on effort AND luck or more EFFORT than luck. But the stupid developers with their latent and trigger happy gambling habbits decided in their "blond moment" that it would be somehow more "fun" and "fair" to do it this way. Someone should have told them that gambling is outlawed in most parts of the world for a very good, **** reason. I"m sure they got penalized a lot for it when the Chinese cracked down on Lineage 2 when they recognized how gamble-friendly this game is...since, not to enforce stereotypes but...a lot of Chinese like to gamble and get "hooked" on it....

Oh and let me also confirm the 4th +16 Homunkulus Sword with Acumen that I saw first hand on Bartz today. LOL seems they are hot off the market this week since everyone is trying to get rid of em. Man that OE bug is working miracles...

YOu nailed it right on the head. This is why the current OE system ****** so many people off. Because its depends PURELY on LUCK. It should depend on effort AND luck or more EFFORT than luck.

I can't say that I don't agree to some extent. But if you look at L2, and many MMOs in general in fact, luck is a deciding factor in almost everything. Some crafting is based on luck, monster drops are based on luck, critical hits are based on luck, stun or curses landing is based on luck.

Two battles performed in the exact same way can go end in a completely different way depending on luck. Two players that put in the same amount of effort are going to come up with completely different characters. One is just going to get more drops, is going to die less in PvP because his stun shot landed, and his weapon won't explode when he overenchants.

To some extent the pure randomness of everything is part of the fun. It's great when you win and frustrating when you lose, but it's all a part of the game. Things tend to balance themselves out when things go on long enough, especially with thousands of random factors being determined every day. It's just a part of the game structure you need to accept to continue playing.

Those that know me have seen the weapons: +16 Knight*Elven duals, +17 Homunkulus', +16 Kris, +16 Emi, +16 Calibur*SLS.

I want your kinda luck. I sell weapons up to +10 depending on type. Anything over +10 never gets sold. I had a nice collection of +12s before a few of them became soul shots and spirit shots.
I cant remember all my enchanting sucess & failures, but my best so far are..
+16 Goat Staff, (Teons first +16)
+10 Dama (sold 200 mil)
+14 Homukulas (I went +13 to +14 yesterday, i dont use this weapon, and will probaly sell it soon, cough but only 2 away)

YOu nailed it right on the head. This is why the current OE system ****** so many people off. Because its depends PURELY on LUCK. It should depend on effort AND luck or more EFFORT than luck.

Life itself depends on luck. Be it where you are born, where you go, or what you see. We are all LUCKY enough to play video games for endless hours of our wasted lives. I think the game mimics reality plenty. You can work towards enchants too...just try enough times to beat the odds. So the system mimics the real world pretty well, get lucky, earn it, or cheat/steal you way to it.

Hehe, and people expect L2 to be better governed than we govern our own businesses.

LOL Life does not depend on luck. Only people who say this are people who dont make an effort to work hard and get ahead and take opportunities that come your way. There's a big difference to Real life and playing games. Almost all rich people, except those that got there through inheritance, have got there through hard work and following up on opportunities. Anyone that says its luck knows nothing about what "hard work" is all about.

All games have randomness factored into a lot of things but its calculated randomness where you can sort of guess what the outcome might be if you end up in a PvP match. With OE in this game, you don't have a clue what the outcome would be. Its PURE LUCK or chance. Thats called gambling, where you have NO control of what the results will be like. Thats whats BS about it.

Hmm that's funny because I do pretty darn well for myself and I think luck had a lot to do with it. First, I was born in the United States to a family which could afford to educate me at the best schools money could buy. Then I was gifted with talents and skill in mathematics from birth. To really kick things into gear, many opportunities along the way have just been up to chance, a random individual I've met looking for someone to work with, a friend I have a beer with and we just happen upon a good idea. No matter what you say, 90% persperation still leaves room for 10% inspiration.

You are very lucky in RL...to even so much as be able to post and say you aren't :p If not, it's quite naive and I'd suggest you travel a bit more around neighborhoods in your city...or those in many of the countries around the world less wealthy than yours. Luck? 4 B people having 1 B babies and look where you were born. I thank God every day for how lucky I am.

I sell weapons up to +10 depending on type. Anything over +10 never gets sold.

Yes, that's my point exactly. If you enchant to +8 you can probably luck out and find a legit player who can afford it. But when you get to +10 and higher, you can be pretty sure, unless you know the person, that you'll be dealing with "e-word" types or farmers or extremely wealthy clans... which can pose a different kind of problem. If you sell that weapon to a rival clan, or a domineering clan that hordes all of the best hunting grounds and Boss Raids to itself, you may be causing problems for yourself down the road. I try to avoid that.

I stop at a moderate level for a reason. The only times when I go higher is if I need a weapon for personal use, if I'm trying to beat a personal best, or if I'm bored. Most of my high enchants were done out of sheer boredom.

Note: +13 BOP made it to +15. It went "poof" this morning when I tried for +16. I hate it when that happens. :)

Because its depends PURELY on LUCK.

Which is a true statement and why?

[a.] In the real world, we all are subject to the same factors conducive to "luck."

[b.] In L2, we all are subject to the same factors conducive to "luck."

If you truly believe that you are where you are in life because of "luck" than I feel sorry for you.

Both statements are completely off the mark. Real life isnt about luck. Only a cynic would believe so. Attributing everything that you have achieved in life to "luck" is ludicrous and disheartening. If you believe this you don't believe in the concept of effort and "hard work". Just because you have opportunities thrown at you doesn't mean you automatically achieve success in those opportunities. It takes effort, hard work and dedication to achieve success. America is founded on these principles. America was made into what it is today because of these principles. It sad to say though that these days it seems America is more prone to wanting the easy way out, no matter what the cost is to its soul.
Getting back to the original topic...

Add another series of successful enchants for me. Dual Kesh +0 is now Dual Kesh +7.

(Thanks again, Palysade, for swapping me the Kesh recipes, blades and mats for the dual Kesh.)
Update: make that +9 Kesh*Kesh after two more successful enchants this morning.

And the beat goes on...

+12 Kesh*Kesh as of today. Somebody stop me!!! :D
[923] I can't even get a dang Mithril Dagger past +6
