UI Mods that are downloadable?

Player Questions Started Last reply 20 posts
Im just wondering if there is any Mods that work with L2 that are downloadable.

I used to have a site i used to goto to download skins of the internet, but i cant remeber what it was and im not really sure if they supply mods for L2 anyway.

Anyone with any links to sites that make or create UI mods would be great, thanks in advance.
I would like to know that myself. :o
there are mods that exist but if you use them you can get banned (but prolly wont)
fact remains you are not allowed to modify the game client in any way

Really? Its strange how other games allow the use of UI mods but this doesnt. I think this is the first game i've ever heard of such a bannable offense, and why? Because you dont like their way with how they set out the UI?

I will admit, since C1 the UI in this game has got somewhat slightly better, but it is still very very primative and there is alot that can be changed and altered, chant font size is one, multiple hot bars is another. Making macro's alot more precise is another.

Personally, i dont like the games UI because i like being able to fine tune my UI like you could in EQ and EQ2. If its one thing Sony can do, is create a very well done game UI that you never have to Mod because it has everything to begin with.

I would love to be able to costumise font size and have another hot bar. I hope they will let us do this in the future.
"UI mods" may result in unfair advantage. Mods may provide ability to see others HP/MP, [nice griefing util] ability to know what kind of dmg other will inflict, auto targeting, bypassing lose of target due to skills like bluff... [no more hints due to upcoming thread lock] so modifying client should not be allowed at any rate.
Stanimir has it - making the macros more precise? I hope you know yourself what that sounds like - they're as sloppy as they are for a good reason.

You already have four to seven hotbars easily available to you depending on the size of your hand - unless you're running with the keyboard and clicking skills with the mouse, which is a horrible habit encouraged by other games that just doesn't really work in point and click environments without manual dodging.

I will admit that some improvements should be made (font adjustment possibility and more precise filtering of system message filtering).

Other than that, the "primitive" UI has never once abandoned me. Unlike that of, say, WoW which is needlessly cluttered and thus hard to use.
I have a much simpler answer to this question.....

NO!
Well said, Stanimir.

Some allow mods, some allow macros, some allow 3rd party utilities. Each game has its own rules.

Im talking about the UI here, not game mechanics. They are two totally different parts of the game.

Auto Targeting already exsists, providing you know who your up against.

There is no MMORPG that i have played that allows any, and when i say any, i meen ANY 3rd party utilitys or macros.

I suppose L2 is a exemption from all this seeing it already allows adena farmers to macro uncontrolablely. Sure, no doubt they delete some, but its seems to be getting worse and worse.

My orginal post was asking if there is any UI mods that are accually allowed in the game, not by means of illegal use but so i can fine tune my UI, its as simple as that, all i want is to adjust my chant font size and add one more hot bar, really dont think this is much to ask for here.
SWG allows you to play whilst AFK via ingame macros. Of course, most of the grind in SWG isnt the leveling grind, so it is slightly different.

I think it was AC which allowed 3rd party macros.

Not if they remove it we cant, if we cant see it now, why does it need to be there in the first place? And who says that if someone makes a UI mod for the game, that they are going to do such a thing?

Its simple, EQ2 and even WoW does it, they monitor people while playing through their client, so if they are reported as botting or cheating in some sort of fashion, they have proof alot quicker then what it would take a person to go through a mountain of log files. The people acually tried to fight this, there was a write up in the New York times about " invading peoples privacy ".

EQ2 and WoW even have UI mods that are acually approved by Sony and Blizzard. Why cant L2 do this if they dont want to make the UI better besides some little strips of gold edging etc.
The only thing that needs changing in L2 is the radar (it sucks, the early one was loads better) and the lockable hotbar. We get the hotbar in C5. Other than that, its a pretty slick UI. You can only use 12 hotbar buttons via the F1-12 keys, and the next hotbar is available easily (Alt & 1-12) so you can use more hotkeys. Why do you need more? The current system works very well. Much better than my Mages on WoW, who has dozens and dozens of buttons on screen at once, and yet only uses 1-12 of them at once...

Because it takes time to swtich to a new hot bar, use it and switch back to the orginal hot bar is why.

We have alot more buttons and skills to use at this point in the game then we did 2 years ago. Greater Heal pots, Cp pots, Greater Antidotes. If your like me, i carry a Polearm and a 1 hand blunt + shield in the event i get trained, i whip out the pole, or if i feel like leveling fast and am tired of killing single mobs making 100% sure i get every spoil, i have a macro for 1hand blunt + shield instant equip, one for the pole, plus the CP pot, GH pots and GA pots, there goes 5 of my 12.

You cant sit here and tell me that you can succesfully switch hot bars while getting ganked by a surprise gank party and not panic, i find it extremelly hard to believe. Not to mention if you get trained by griefers.

One more hot bar isnt going to kill anyones fun here and in alot of cases will more then likely increase the skill of a player more then anything by having a range of tools at there use quicker then what it takes to be switching hot bars constantly.

If it is a Slick UI, why cant i adjust my font size, already explained why i cant use a higher screen resolution, because i cant read the **** writing unless my nose is pressed against the screen and the reason i want to use a higher screen resoultion is because the current UI is too bulky and takes up almost 2/4 of the screen. Look how much room the group window takes up when in a group of 9 people. Not to mention the size of the Chat window plus the new System Message window they put in, good ideas, but how much more are they going to keep adding to it before we run out of room and cant see anything anymore.

All i realistically want to be able to do is, see more of the game without being blocked by big bulky windows and have a second hot bar, im really sure this isnt alot to ask here.
Pressing Alt & 2, then F1, then Alt & 1 to get back to your original bar takes you longer than moving your mouse to the second hotbar? You must type really, really slowly.

Can you do this while kiting and being chased by Pk'ers? Can you do this while in a 9 vs 9 pvp group or war tagged with 3 groups vs your 3 or your 3 groups vs their 5? I seriously do not think so. There is simply too much going on to warrant such slow behavious, the more you have to waste time changing hot bars, the more chance you have of being killed.

Its a simple matter of what takes more time here, switching to another bar, using said ability then switching back to orginal hot bar is ALOT more time consuming then simply cursing over your second hot bar and clicking a button, i mean, it even sounds alot faster dont you think.

Alt + 2 + f1 + Alt + 1 + f7 + Alt + 2 + f5 + Alt +1 etc etc VS move click + move click + move click. I reckon i could do my 3 moves 2 seconds or maybe even 3 seconds faster then what it would take you to do your 3 via the keybaord if i had a second hot bar up.

I think its seriously safe to say many people know whats alot less time consuming.
Depends if you actually know how to type and what a keyboard is. :p I have my skills on 3 seperate hotbars. I use them much, much faster than I ever did my multiple hotbars in WoW.
Doing something with your hand while kiting is no problem, that's the whole beauty - movement and targeting on the mouse, all the other actions on the keyboard.

I'm a summoner, so I actually have an "Oh sod" bar, containing things like Servitor Move, Servitor Ultimate Defense, Servitor Unsummon, Battle Heal and GHP. When I get into a touchy situation, I have to control my toon, my servitor and two hotbars - of course sometimes it doesn't work out, but that's not the UI, that's those trees that I bump into while looking at enemies.

If you have extra hotbars, you actually have to look at them to click and see even less.
