General Questions about Clans/Alliances

Hi everyone! Things have been going pretty good in the first few days of coming back. I've made it up to level 7 on my Human Fighter Atrias.

I have to admit, I'm a bit of a forum troll. I've been reading all of the posts regarding Invincible, Mirage, Chaos and other clans and alliances. I'm a bit confused about everything though.

I understand that a clan is a group of people, like a guild. I understand that an alliance is a group of clans. I guess my confusion lies in knowing who is who.

Is there a list of the most popular Alliances and the clans united under them? Is there an easy way to figure out who is who in game?

Also, I see a lot of signatures here that say things like 6x Shilen Elder or something of that nature. What does that mean?

Thanks for the info!
In my case, I have 6x Elven Elder because I am a lvl 60 Elven Elder. But when I hit 61, I will still be 6x. The 'x' lets me show my level without having to update it every time I level. Plus, some people might want to keep it hidden (PvP? Who knows) so as to be... secretive? Who knows. lol But that's my reason. Lazyness.
Aha! Makes much sense!

Thanks!

As for major clans and alliances the only way to really tell the difference in game will be the clan tags. If you see someone with a clan tag click on them a lil window at the top of the screen apeears with a lil down arrow, click that it shows Clan name and alliance name.

This will help you get used to all the Clan and ally Tags you will see once you start getting into the higher lvl towns ^^
This is not a complete list at all but i'll list some of the biggest alliances. Unfortunately my knowledge of clans is pretty limited outside chaos and invincible and honestly for the most part i just look at ally tag unless the clan one stands out.

Non neutrals:
Invincible, Chaos, Mirage.

Neutrals:
RisingBlades, Domination, Oblivion, Infinity, LagunaBlade, Nooob, Tenebrae, Chosen, GodLike.

This is all i can remember. Some of the Neutrals have pretty strong ties with one side or the other but most of those are fairly neutral wrt our war.
Definitely make sure to click on that little down arrow of the top center "name/info" window every time you log in. Not only will it display the clan and alliance for players, it will also give some vital data about the monster you have selected.

Another way to get some ideas about clans is to check them out in the in-game community system. Go to System->Community (or Alt-B) and selected the community tab. You can spend ages browsing through them or search for a particular one (read all about the mighty clan Goats !). :p
This is good information! I never knew any of them existed! I will try them out!

Thanks everyone!
You're still low level, so don't sweat get into a clan right away. When you go to Dion at around level 20, perhaps you can find a clan that suits you. Important thing is to play and have fun, try to group whenever you can, get to know people then before you know it you'll have a group of friends that you will hang with until you quit or die!

And stay away from the big evil Alliances of the server, Mirage, Invincible and Chaos! They're BAD! PK's everyone! Raises taxes! Shaves kittens for no reason! :>
ok i'm pretty sure he made up the kittens thing. That's just kinda wierd.
Exordium (Mirage) also have a keen eye on "flowers".. :o
Now that seems pretty factual.
My advice to other new players being a relatively new player..............don't worry about clans to around lvl 30.
If possible, clan with folks you've played with a lot (which will happen more around Dion in the 20's when you're raiding and partying).
If you LIKE the folks...they are worth considering as clan mates.
That is what really matters.

In my opinion, joining the wrong clan can ruin your experience. As the new guy, if you get in the wrong one, and they ally with a non-neutral on our server you're going to get killed a couple times a day.
Hard to level and learn other parts of the game while that is happening.
Probably best to stay unaligned as long as possible then when considering ANY clan, ask enough questions about them so you know they are a fit for you and you for them.
If they are a pvp clan you're going to be doing that a lot whether it's your thing or not. If they are an alt clan, they may be playing their mains for long periods, if they are a pve clan and you like pvp they won't appreciate you much.
You get the idea--there's a LOT you should know before joining a clan.
Remember too, some clans expect rigid following of orders (play at x time on x day, or x number of levels gained) and others expect contributions, drops to go to clan warehouses, fees regularly.
This is a wide open game and there are as many different clan styles as there are player approaches.
Good luck to you--and welcome.
Thanks a lot for all of the advice.

As you can see by my signature, I did join a clan. They've helped out a whole lot in game and seem to fit my style of play, which happens to be RP.

I really do appreciate all of the advice from everyone. It seems that the L2 community is very close, and very welcoming to new players like myself.

I hope to be here for a while, and I hope that you all do not get tired of my endless stream of newbie questions!

Once again, thank you. Feel free to contact Atrias in game for anything. Want to chat? Send me a message! Want to start a RP session? Send me a message! Want to PK me? Oh please bring it on! :p
