Over hit:
Using certian skills to kill a mob (only last killing blow required) you well get an "Over-hit"
This basically means you get more xp that you would normally.
Also, the smaller the hp the mobs has as you use your skill (that allows over-hit) to kill the mob, the more xp if will give you.
ie: If the mob has 200 hp left and you skill does 225 damage.., some extra xp. If the mob has 20 hp left.... much more xp bonus.
Killing a monster with an over-hit enabled skill will give you extra experience points, but no extra skill points. The additional experience is calculated on a slightly random factor, as well as an unknown mixture of the HP the monster had left when you hit it with the skill, and the amount of damage "over" its max HP you hit it for.
Most overhit skills for melees, however, are better used during battle when the monster is still alive, as the extra experience does not outweigh the "wasted" damage. Mages can gain quite some nice extra XP with overhit skills, but they have to be careful about spending their SP if they level with OH a lot.
well i have had no idea about that ,just thought its a random, and adds more power to the skill. Now i see if i use it while the monster has left less hp i get more XP :p thanks.
Keep in mind that overhit skills usually have a higher mana cost than some of your other skills. They are also occasionally slower to use. Long wind up, but potent.
every archer skill is a over-hit skill(Double Shot, stun shot, power shot, burst shot), they are geting added effects in C5 critial possiblity. so I'll have a crt chance on players and mobs when I use them..add in the over-hit and thats more dmg.
SP mite be a proplem for you how ever, but over-hit is a nice way to make back lost XP from seiges and pvp or just deaths.
even now with few deaths, and no over-hits I'm still not able to max out all of my 52 skills.
at lower levels the over-hit is a nice function. killing white or yellow mobs when you're a melee toon under 20 it's typical for you to get 600 exp or so for the kill (varies).
Particularly 'power strike' for sword users is low mp cost (19 at lvl 6 i believe).
Not uncommon if you time it right to get 800+ exp for that same mob using over-hit.
Was doing it tonight on an alt fighter at lvl 18.
I think the added exp when you're trying to level is pretty nice.
For that toon he goes up 1 exp % for about every two mobs (hunting in neutral zone--silver leopards, red scav spiders, lyconathrope werewolves) at lvl 16, 17, etc. Obviously takes more at 18 and will take more at 19, etc. But you can see how much faster leveling occurs using the over-hit at the lower levels.
If I can get the last over-hit on the DA in EV the same holds true of the higher mobs there. Exp from the trees goes up significantly if you can overhit them.
Hey, every little bit helps (and DA at 50 still only has power-strike 9.....what the hell is up with THAT by they way?) so MP use is like 23 (don't quote me on that one).
If you're hunting a lot of the same mobs it becomes pretty easy to judge the over-hit strike point as they are being wittled down.
Incidentally, the use of power-strike for a melee toon is ONLY valid with 0ver-hit. The "skill" (i'll use the term loosely) is next to useless.
If you hit a mob for 90 normally, you might crit for 160. Using highest powerstrike in this example you'll hit for 98 or so.
Same things happens at higher levels. Hit for 260 as da on a mob--crit for 400+, powerstrike at highest level hits for 275. Not even worth using during the middle of the fight.
Use it for over-hit or leave it alone on the bar if you're a melee--doesn't do anything anyway.
Ever tried using the search function? I made a topic almost exactly like this only a week or two ago. Eh, oh well....
...which doesn't show up when you do a basic search for "overhit" ;)
Some good info in this thread. I had questions about the specifics of overhit after it came up in my WildSweep thread and this thread answers all of them.
