Forcelog ???

Greetings,

WT[923] !!!

We have been hitting people, and people in combat should not be able to log. That's just laim. You disconnct, you take 20 seconds of damage.

PVP game, this should be a focus. People who forcelog are using the Dark side of the force. *waves hand* We are not the bots you are looking for.

Oh sure, I can beleive you folks get baited by this this crap, but when they forcelog and in about 30 minutes add you to the auto log list, would you beleive they are bad elements ?

You guys want PvP ? Try taking on NC one on one.

The PLAYERS you speak of force log anytime a red player goes near them. I suggest a wolf. Keep your distance and send in the dogs. They will take it until they drop to the ground with no idea a red toon is near.

This has been my experience in DE swamplands. 42 PLAYERS killed in about an hour, it was the same 5 or 6 PLAYERS though. Whats great is when they port back you just sit the red toon at the port spot and you no longer have t o kill them. They just stack up there as they keeping logging in and out. You basicly have them trapped out of the game. This leaves people trying to lvl or do quest, or seeds with a clean area to hunt. As long as they aren't afraid of you that is.
This has been bugging me so incredibly much ever since prelude. When bsoe's were introduced I was just thinking "but how does that change anything?.."

Once I ended up in a 1v1 with an SR. Being a warlord, that's not exactly a fight in my favor. After about 5 minutes of kiting me through some dungeon, we both have monsters hitting us, I finally catch up to her and manage to land a stun, I might jsut win this!!
*fades away*
That's one of those moments where I throw my head back and lose all faith in this game's pvp.

As of right now, there is a bot train in ascetics necropolis on hinde. I report them every day, and occasionally try to train them for good measure. But what the heck is the point. The moment they start taking a certain amount of damage, they all instantly fade away at the exact same time.
I also reported this fishing bot for both botting and forcelogging when catching a monster, and the response was that "gm's can not intervene in such an issue. Good day". Whatnow?
Hmm, frankly I would hate to lose the ability to log of when people are trying to kill me. Even if it takes 20 seconds to do so.

Against most opponents this would be useless of course as they kill me in seconds. But it is an option that I as a non-pvp oriented chatracter like to have.
BSoEs should be impossible to use when flagged
Sorry for you lost but if you want a fix in Forcelog then you may want to add the Boxing another character to the list. there is only 2 ways to forcelog that i know.

legit way opening another window and making one crash the other and the not so legit way ~ 3 party program. I used the first option since is legal and i dual box from time to time. Crashing the game has always save my life from time to time and is not something that you cant change.

People who forcelog are using the Dark side of the force.

I hear SirE is the Dark Side or the Dark One (WoT). Not a single thread goes by without his touch.
it's pathetic how many people cheat in this game - and i'm not talking about the obvious ones...

i'd like to see complete removal of any way to log out in combat.
There was one a notorious red on Kain that I managed to catch, sleep AND root for the rest of my party to kill. He logged even with both spells fully in effect. Super lame.
No matter what you do having a secondary game window open with the user & game password typed just hitting him is just a waste of time if you cant kill him in less than 3 seconds. :p
Using any means of forcelogging is illegal and can lead to banishments. If you want to log go ahead, it takes 20 seconds before you are safe. Plenty of time to die.
Yeah I know how that works, it's still lame. In another game I played if you forcelogged to mobs, no matter when you came back in the room would have a frenzied version of the mob that would own your face for being such a baby.
IMHO: Upon disconnect, the toon stays in the world until out of combat mode.

When attempting to log in from a second client, a countdown is initiated (a la invitation window). It can't be skipped. Once it is done, a second window pops up telling you that someone is trying to log on, and of course this can be confirmed or rejected.
Yeah, thats going to be neat if you get one of the nice disconnects while in combat with mobs...oh great, lets wait until combat is over before you can log in again.
I agree with Chaos that the staying during disconnect is a terrible idea. It's irritating that players can do that, but there's no way to remove it without dooming everyone else during natural disconnects while grinding.

However the other one would be a nice change. The most irritating forcelogs are the ones in which you have no chance at all to kill your opponent as they disappear so fast. Bot program or not, there's no legitimate reason a player should be able to fast log via a login attempt.

Sure there is, instant timeout when white; end of combat mode when flagged.
Hmm, I guess I'm misinformed then. I know I always "wake up dead" after disconnects, and I've seen someone (in a party) literally take five minutes to time out. I wasn't aware that disconnection due to natural causes usually resulted in safety - maybe I've just been really unlucky. If it impedes players with regular DCs further than they already are, it's of course not a good idea.
If you log out you dissapear instantly
If you crash while not in combat mode you disappear instantly
If you crash while in combat mode you dissapear after x amount of time has passed (x unknown but I sometimes logged back to half-dead instead of dead character, which means it did log me out while in combat)
If you force-log (log onto same account from different client) you disappear immediately whether you're in combat or not.
Here's simple fix:
When you log onto already logged account you get "account in use" message, and nothing happens That way nobody will be able to log onto already logged account (which raises a question... why's one able to do so in the first place? <.<)
Sounds like you've just been really unlucky. I routinely disconnect while kiting, which means I'm usually facing away from the mob and not firing arrows when I disconnect. Usually I'll log back on with half hp and the mob will have moved somewhere else. It's weird that you'd still stay connected when not sending any info to the server, though I have seen some others who disconnect linger for far too long.
This is actually to minimize latency influence on the game. Sometimes, when I get a heavy lag then disconnect, I see that my character kept doing what I was doing for a while, before standing still and getting killed by the mob...
Sorry to heard that. mages and archers have low hp so is hard to determine when to start forcelogin.

Wait your telling me that i should have no reason for giving you the satisfaction of you kill me in a so call PvP (Mage Zerg) when im a tank and i have no interest in fighting you or that mobs are pounding me so hard that i may die and i tell my clannie stop hitting and so i take the agro from them before they die too and loose gear. i have come to the conclution that you have way of knowing if is a righteous forcelog or not and with AoE nerf im happy that i can forcelog from a stupid person bringing more mobs that i can handle. :)
Forcelogging is a punishable exploit, and rightly so.

If you want to avoid PvP against overpowered classes - stock that BSoE.

Forcelogging is an exploit and has no place in an open PvP game. It's as simple as that.
You shouldn't be able to forcelog while purple, period. Or make your character stay in the world for another ~20 seconds after you hit another player.

I'm a warlord and 90% of my xp comes from melee aoe, you can imagine how it goes when I crash or get disced (I'm even on a wireless router, sharing the line with 2 others), but I still would prefer if forcelogging got a huge nerf. I'd much rather be able to pvp and kill bots while dying every time I crash, rather than have a chance of living through a disconnect while cheaters have complete immunity to pvp.
Uhm, you are aware of that sometimes when you're disconnected the server still thinks you're logged in, so when you try to log back in you will get "account already in use".

Forcelogging is a punishable exploit, and rightly so.

Not all Players auto log on Reds, though the Players you have been playing with auto log on names and trains of three or more mobs. Unless they are in 'combat', in which case they usually stick around until the mob they were attacking dies. At which point they immeadiatly loggout, not bothering to pick up any loot or sweep the mob. You can have fun with the auto loggers if you are patient, some of them won't 'see' you if you're standing next to them when they login, kind of like agro mobs that way. And laying down an agro minefield near where they logged also works well. ^^

Unless you force log, you will in general stay in the game for 15-20 seconds if you crash out. If you get really unlucky the game engine crashes, but the network subsystem keeps running. Which is what happens to most people that freeze in game for more than 20 seconds as they are stuck in game until they reboot or restart the client.
LOL at the aggro mind field. I have done that. Hardins Acadamy area. A PLAYER's party logged because I kept ice bolting them and slowing the leader down. So the leader logs in to see if he can negotiate with me. A Grandis starts to beat him down and he says, "Help" I said "OK" and I began healing the grandis and buffing it too. The dwarf dies and says "Why?" I said "you told me to help, so I helped the Grandis"

The healer of the party logs back in in an attempt to rez him, but before she did I brought about 6 Grandis to stand around the leaders body, slept them all and ran out of aggro range. I watched the healer try to approach from many different directions. Finally I see her scroll out and the leader went to town.

thx lord. :p

and just because Bsoe its in game that doesnt mean im going to spend hard earn adena just some one is attacking me.
Looked all over the site and in the support records, but I couldn't find anything at all even mentioning force logging. I sent in a ticket to support describing the issue and asking whether or not it is a violation of the rules. Last note was about them sending it to a higher tier GM for review, but anyway, I'll post the result once it goes through.

Whether it's a punishable offense or not it still has no place in a game, especially a PvP one. They disabled the ability to log out during combat for a reason. Force logging is a workaround to a system that was put in place for a reason, there's no denying that.

It's absolutely ridiculous from a gaming standpoint. You're standing there slashing at an opponent, and as you swing your sword for the finishing blow it slices through air as he fades from existence. It's even worse from a roleplaying standard, as it completely destroys the consistency of the game world.

Just imagine that you've gathered 200 people to take down Antharas. After 2 hours of fighting you have him on the ropes, and suddenly he disappears without a trace. It's unfair, and it makes no sense in a game.

To a lesser extent that's exactly what is happeneing when a player force logs. The attacker's prize is snatched out from under him as the real world comes crashing down around the game. Not to mention the advantages it offers to the farmer nation who are prone to using programs that allow quick, easy, and automated force logging.
From a PM. Not an explicit statement, but they would hardly investigate it if it wasn't an exploit:

On our end it is easier to detect 3rd party software via logs. Force logging takes us comparing several different logs and is sometimes not definate. Force logging is often seen (and easily done) in 3rd party software.

Hope that helps,
~spam

When you report someone for forcelogging, you will also not be told that it's not a punishable offense, unlike when reporting any other non-punishable offense (when GMs still actually talked to you :p ).

I only have my word for this at the moment, but I'll keep reporting it when someone forcelogs.
Greetings,

Forcelog is an exploit is you overuse it.

Sure it could happen to anyone of us to disconnect, but if you use forcelog over and over and over, you will be reported by the zerg team.

Basically it takes them about 30 minutes to put us on their forcelog list, so basically they forcelog when we approach them (even as white).

Nothing he's saying there says that forcelogging is wrong, he's just saying that its often done by 3rd party tools and you can be punished for that.
Forcelogging curcumvents the PvP aspect of this game; the very nucleus of the game. If a person can't afford BSoE, they aren't high enough to worry about losing a few percent to begin with. I don't mean to sound callus, but it's true.

The game was designed so a character can't log out during combat. That being the case, in my mind, it is at the very least implied that it's illegal to do it.
Lets not throw the baby out with the bath water.

I have been getting lots of critical errors lately, and random disconnects. So have my clan mates. The other day I was 2-boxing a SH and SE. The SH crashed on an initial attack. Luckily my SE could heal the SH, while I tried to force log.

My point is that it is legitimate to force log when you have lost control of your toon. In many cases you can relog in 10 secs (if your comp is powerful enough) and possibly save your toon.
As I explained, I realise that he does not directly state so in the quote, but what he wrote would make no sense if it was no exploit. But believe what you will, I got my (unquoted) answer from support; it's not like they ban exploiters anyway, so it's pretty much a moot point whether it is an exploit or not.
crashing your client or pulling the plug still leaves your character in the world for a few seconds.
The kind of forcelogging I refer to is the one where you can only get *one single* hit in on someone before they fade away. This can only be done using 2 clients or a third party client afaik.
