The most important thing about an mmo is,what if you reach the max level. I think in l2 there is an missing link there. Only thing you can do is kill. The world needs to be more interactive. But i do not think l2 game engine allows it. So justr like fps kill or is there something else.
for me the only thing is to go out of game and think stories, develop the game more in my minds eye.
Ummm.... there is lots to do when you reach your max level in this game.....
1- you own at pvp, and pvp is what this game revolves around
2- you do lots of seiges
3 - Then you get a a sub class and once your done with that,
4- You have fun at Olympiad (more pvp ! told you this game revolves around pvp)
5- You become a hero... and then you own even more at pvp.
Recap: This game revolves around pvp. The fun starts when you r high level and then you cant have fun at pvp. The fun is pvp. Pvp is fun.
So yeah , if your looking for something else other than pvp at higher levels then Id suggest you change mmo.
When one of your characters reaches the level cap, you can start that character on a second occupation (at level 40, with all skills up to that point given for free.) When you get that character to level 75 in the second occupation, the character can do the quest to become a Nobless.
Nobless folks get special bonuses, including the right to compete in the Tournament to become a Hero. Heroes get special armor and weapons for their Hero-period, and a distinctive glow.
At the level cap, and near it, you can compete in seiges and raids on Velakas and Antharas.
Remember, you can create up to seven characters on each server. If you are really bored at the level cap on one character, create a different class character and see how you do with it.
You PvP (sieges, Olympiad, clan wars, etc) and you enchant your skills so you can be even more powerful. Keep in mind, enchanting your skills is like enchanting a weapon with a blessed Enchant. You can fail and they go back to "normal". In which case you get to try again.
A long time ago I suggested in another forum that those who max out their levels should be given a quest to receive the title of "Master," "Magister", "Prelate" or some other lofty designation. In addition to having that word added to your name, it confers upon you special talents, like training skills for lower levels, providing class-related buffs/cubics for anyone that hasn't passed their second class change, and even the ability to bestow a temporary SA on no-grade weapons. The title requires you to routinely engage in these activities, or you risk losing the title and abilities altogether. Masters would also receive special quest weapons and armor -- including cloaks -- which would have their own enhancements... to better assist them in their role of L2 stewards.
Obviously I came up with this idea somewhat concerned about making the game more entertaining to low levels and increasing the amount of interaction between the highest level players and the lowbies. Don't think anything like that would ever happen, though. Most probably wouldn't care to do the quest. :D
alts suck! ( I say that cause I've been playing a long time, and know what class I like, and I need no distractions from the grind like alts, or arena)
There needs be some kind of alternate advancement when you reach max level. Not endless hours or grinding at another profession or endless PvP crap. People are turned off by that. They need to start introducing "fun" back into this game.

I agree, I just love the PvP.
to quote a FPS guy:
"boom head shot...
BoooomHead shot...
'bounces in my chair', boooooomheaaad shot!!!!"
i don;t possibly see how you get adrenaline from fps, oh noes, your rak will go down, not that anybody but the top 100 cares, the only game i've had a better pvp rush in is eve online, anything can happen and the loss is alot worse, pvp was much more complex in that game, but lineaghe still gives a decent rush, cuz rly, do you rly wanna lose xp? or gear?, no, you shake at the thought, and that there is adrenaline

I wonder if I'm one of the only players who likes pvp for pvp's sake? :(
Don't care about inflicting long term harm to my opponent, don't like dropping items (in the case of going red and racking up more than 5 pk's) and don't really like xp loss (though I'd rather have xp loss than dropping items).
Quite frankly, I think Guild Wars PvP is more my speed but who wants to be in an entirely instanced world.
hmmm... maybe i got the wrong point out with my post, i love pvp, and i love the adrenaline, i'm just trying to show the difference between fps pvp and mmo pvp, fps, load up again, like new..shy why feel adrenaline when ur getting shot? you shouldn't.
i tried GW, i hated it, and gave my acct to a friend, L2 4tw

I actually like the FPS, quick style of fighting. The idea that you can dodge your attackers attacks is interesting too.
I was reading about another game that addressed an issue with these games where what ends up happening is that players tend to watch and play their toolbars as opposed to playing the game. I'm not sure if that is really valid but it was an interesting comment with perhaps some truth.
Of course, games where you can dodge your opponent might also end up being "jumping fests" and that is just plain ridiculous. Not sure what the answer is.
