I'm slowly (very slowly :p) approaching B-Grade, and i think i read something about sealing/unsealing B-Grade equipment, does this mean you cant just buy it, you have to do something more before you can actually use it ?
And the Blacksmith in Giran only makes Duals up to C-Grade, so where will i have to go to make B-Grade Duals ?
You will need to craft B Grade equipment or buy from other players. There is no way to change it with an NPC or anything like that.

Getting your B-Grade unsealed is pretty simple. Just go see the regular BlackSmith in any town and he will do it for you.
by the way unsealing B grade is free. So dont worry about being able to afford unsealing it.
Ok, but what is "unsealing" ? :p
For B grade, unsealing means classifying a piece of armor as Light, Heavy, or Robe. You do this in order to obtain specific set bonuses. I'm not quite sure why they added this in C3, as it's free and you can seal them again and change types at any time. It seems like an unnecessary two minute hassle to me.
And don't worry if you choose the wrong one, you can re-seal and unseal it.
So it means i can buy a Doom Light, or a Doom Robe, and transform it into a Doom Heavy at the Blacksmith ?
And the same for gloves, etc... ?
The gloves, boots, and helms are the ones that can be transformed into different types. The chest/legs don't come sealed and thus can't be altered afterwards.
Oh ok !
That's indeed a strange thing, i wonder if there's a reason behind all this...
It came at the same time as A grade, which costs AA to be unsealed. At the time I assumed that the free unsealing for B was there so that players who already had it would not be forced to pay additional adena to retain their set bonuses. C5 is almost upon us and there's no word of that changing however, so it remains pretty pointless.
It's not completly pointles, it's party forcing some classes to have 2 sets of boots+gloves or runto town each time you need tochange.

That is not even possible in A or S grade either :)
Remember just how "pretty" Blue Wolf robes looked on elves? Heavy armour boots just don't look good with robe body armour. So, this little system was introduced - possibly partially to introduce swapping, but since it came with a full set of textures, to give characters visual integrity (if you can call it that...).

In addition, the system was expanded in A Grade as a kind of money sink (I would presume), and to force people to specialise their gear. However, NCSoft realised that that was a stupid idea with the difficulty of acquiring A Grade armour, so now you can reseal A Grade for a fee.
if the unsealing of A items didnt cost AA, it would make the 7 signs pointless for most ppl
Im not sure, but I heard you couldn't reseal stuff in the past?
Afaik only the boots and gloves need to be unsealed. For B-Grade you can do this at the blacksmith in town. Beware that you cannot buy Doom Robes (the main armor piece) and change that to Doom Heavy. Only gloves and boots can be changed.

The reason they did this is because people could change from robe to light to heavy by just changing the main armor piece. NCSoft thought this was a bad thing and changed it. (Real reason IMO is to create another money sink)

prolly
if you didnt have to unseal im sure every dwarf and healer would walk around with 2 sets of armor
