I'm a New Player from europe

General Discussion Started Last reply 14 posts
Hi Everyone.

After some time in other MMO I am moving in to Lineage, from which I have received very good news in terms of immersion and consistency experience. I'm signed up for 1 month and I would someone to give me a hint on which server to start and maybe wich class. Also If possible can anyone tell me if we are automatically in a clan or we have to be recruited?

Thanks,

Cheers
Welcome! I think Erica rocks. Look at the thread about Clans (in a different section) and there is at least one wonderful Erica clan listed.
Welcome to Lineage!

I am from the Lionna server, and I enjoy it a lot. In order to better help you make a decision, what kind of things are you looking for in the game?

RP, PVP, Raids?

If you're in Europe, the Teon server might be more time-friendly to you. If scheduling isn't an issue for you, the rest of them all have things to offer.

Regardless, welcome to the game and good luck!
Yeah, there are some extremities on Erica, really good and really bad, you'll find a little bit of each. there are many nice clans there (including ours, feel free to pm) and several of them European based.

You can also go to the Euro server Teon, but its very overcrowded.
The best server for a european player is Teon. There are a lot of europeans on other servers but most of them stayed on their old server when Teon opened its doors. On Teon, sieges will happen at normal european times instead of deep in the night, the same thing is happening to the manor system and special events. Unless you enjoy playing in the middle of the night all the time, going Teon is a wise choice.

The server is crowded yes. But that is good. It means that sometimes you will have trouble logging in, but you will be able to find people to party with once you hit level 20+. So I strongly advise you to go Teon. Of course failing that, the best server is Hindemith ;)
Teon is a good choice for you because of the seige and manor schedules.
If you don't want to siege around midnight (sundays) or early in the morning (saturdays), Hand in crops from manoring at I think around 4am GMT+1, go to Teon. If this is irellevant to you, pick another server. If you don't know what all this means, do a search on these forums, and I'm sure you'll figure it out. Or look in The Library in the menu to the left.

I'm not sure where in euro you are, but I'd very highly recumend stay far far away from erica, the enconimy is mad over priced, every thing is jack to all hell, 2 ruleing sides and they both lie their butts off, and bot aton.

I recently rerolled to kain, I see alot of russain players and some germen/austrian players... I was really throughen a-back at seening the vast amont of russians that play on kain, but a fair mont of euro and american players to.(and our very own board troll: elliebelly is from euro to)

Teon is the offical euro server, which a few others have pointed out, I played with the teon ally on the PTS, I think they are good people. teon isn't a bad place just is full of alot of bots.

Tho all servers has bots, you can't let them get you down.

Fun classes to play: well each person has their own choose, I think your into pvp if I'm not misstaken. you'd want to checkout some of the threads in C5 which is coming out soon.

I'm playing a human archer (arguibly the best archer), range in this game is > all. you'd find that later on, Come C5 daggers will be coming to life again, and tanks will be wanted in PvP cause of hate(tank skill, lets them grab agressive target of a enimy).(but out side of raids, tanks suck to lvl with, do lil dmg in PvE and pvp)

also don't rule out the roll of mages as one of the top PvP classes, but slower to lvl cause of MP. one of the best high lvl mages is OL that also doubles mostly as a meely fighter.

Also If possible can anyone tell me if we are automatically in a clan or we have to be recruited?

you have to be recruited, but alot of clans use macros to invite players to their clan. look for a clan thats lvl 3 or 4 to join. ( if you decied on kain as your server, "thechoosen" is a good clan, and have alot of mid lvl players, pm: "thedifference" in game if you;d like, I know him; he's a good guy I think)
First of all thanks for all the replies.

I've followed up some of our advices and I went to give the game a go yesterday at Teon.

I played for 2 hours or so, and found the graphics interesting, and the game mechanics quite simple which is fine.

What I'm looking for at Lineage is a more immersive game experience than in the previous MMRPGs I have been playing. On this immersive chapter, SWG had dissapointed me beyond belief due to its game mechanics. I'm hoping that Lineage is better.

On the positive side, the fact that the HP of the opponents is not known seems an interesting design mechanic for instance.

On the negative side, controlling the char is not linear, sometimes the char gets stuck, and camera handling is not the most easy one.

As in every other MMRPG I found myself killing monsters for quite a while and that I believe I'm never going to like.

So I will continue to explore when possible the game mechanics and exploring the universe.

I went for a Human fighter, but I have no idea if its a strong char or not...

I did not understand yet how macroing is done, but since I work I'm honest enough to say that I would like my char to level while I'm at work so that when I have time to play I can do more than : kill gigant toad. Sit. Stand. Kill gigant toad...
Macros aren't supposed to automate your grinding or any other repetative task that's necessary to do to get anything done. Other than buffing :p But even then you have to start the macro for every person you want to buff (unless it's just one or two buffs; then you can maybe buff your whole party with one macro. macros are for simple tasks, like switching to a blunt and use stun, then switch back to your main weapon. Though sometimes the macros break, even if you aren't doing anything else. Macros are also used for text, such as !WTB/!WTS. I only use macros for shouting.

EDIT: Oh, and macros are also useful for targetting, mobs you need to kill for certain drops/quest items or a player you want to kill/avoid being killed by :)
most populated server is bartz server, but not so many bartz players post here frequently. We post on l2blah.com Anyhow, i dont know what the population on teon is but all the real action is on bartz. :) u should read the lineage2.com website under the Library section and check out the races, classes & skills section. should give you a good idea.
you wanna be a buffer, party enhancer, healer, tank, mage, archer, dagger, summoner , dwarf, melee ?
choose your kung fu!

Teon has at least the same population as Bartz and is more active at european times. Teon posts also on blah, no difference here. It would be stupid to go anywhere else then Teon as european player, unless you don't mind to stay up till 5am or miss half of the game.
It's been said (by spam I think) that Teon has the highest population. But as with most thing, quantity does not equal quality. I much prefer a lower population.

And to the person who said Bartz is teh pwn, what other servers have you played on?

Actually I'm from the US, our clan leader and a few other players are from Australia. It's called EndlessPariah. We are not recruiting though, not really anyway.
