I just took up fishing recently and I recently purchased recipes for the eye patch and maiden's hairpin. I've noticed that the ingrediants require another recipe. I havent obtained enough materials to craft one yet so I cant test to see if its true. Why would I need 2 recipes to make one item?
And do you get all the recipes by catching an X amount of fish? [censored] show's no drop info for any of the common craft recipes.

Once you hit B grade in L2, all items consume a recipe to craft. Goto an NPC blacksmith in town to craft coarse bone powder. He will want you to bring a consumed recipe as well.
Currently, Common Craft Recipes, with the exception of the fish oil recs, can only be gotten though clan halls or from players who got them from clan halls. And yes, to make hairpins or anything B, A, S you need a recipe to learn, and you also need a recipe as a material that is consumed during the craft.
You can also find someone who has a recipe and ask them to make a craftshop for you. Then you will only need 1 recipe. As long as you didnt yet put your's recipe into the recipe book on your's char.
