I was wondering - what is the coliseum used for? Now it appears to me to be just another dot on the map. I would love to see some events going on there, like PvP tournmants by grade (no-grade lvl 1-19, D grade 20-39 and so on) for prizes. Im tired of the thought that i have to reach S or A grade before i can participate on acctual VERY cool stuff in this game, and if I do, not being "pwnt" by higher levels. I know there are some events going on but again, whats the fun of killing npcs? I don't like it very much. For example - there is a game called Legend of Mir 3 in which they have a mini-game. It consists on two teams. Each team has a base and each player needs to collect items by destroying something that i dont remember now and deposit them in a kind of werehouse. Then, one other player gets in a building and with the created items, he creates monsters which will attack the enemy base. The objective is to have the other team's main building destroyed with the monsters. In the end, the winner team is teleported to a place with loads of usable items that sell for a nice price. I saw my friend playing this and I would love to see something similar in Lineage 2. My point being more official competitions against real players accecible to all levels and not only against NPC's. I LOVE this game, and I just wanted to make a sugestion. Don't take me wrongly please. :p
I recall Ash pushing for colliseum events run by GMs. I guess that idea must have fallen through the cracks after he left, but it would be nice to see it revived by the current staff.
My old, old clan on Devianne used it for pvp tournaments/practice. No reason for everyone else to not do the same if they wanted. It's there for us to use, just a pity that so few people are actually using it.
Maybe if they made it accessible from main towns like the derby..? And of course, made it so you couldn't get out and get a cheap port to Aden.
We had a few such events on or server which went over succesfully. The problem is that any such event also needs to be policed for "griefers". Running an ingame event without the proper tools AND arranging so that any griefers are stopped in their tracks is a lot of work. It takes someone dedicated and patient. I imagine it might be fun to do so once, but after a while it becomes less fun and more work.
This was really only involving my clan and later on alliance. And if there was another clan there, we'd arrange fights with them. I wouldn't touch a server wide trounament. It's doomed to fail, unless maybe if it's arranged by someone everyone respects (chances of such a person exists are slim to none).. -Or if it's arranged by NC themselves! :)
The griefers may not be an issue if the colisseum is set up like the arena.(dont know anything about colisseum) Just hold tournaments there would be cool. I wouldnt even be concerned with prizes from it just a good pvp tournament would be alot of fun. I would do it as much as possible.
NCsoft droped the ball in C2/3.. reason being they added the MRT in C2.
then after about 2/3 weeks every one stoped goign to it and useing it.

what they need to do, remove the arena from MRT, make it so you can port from any GK in all of aden to colliseum and make event times that don't interfear with olympaid for items.(the colliseum events can't run at the same time as olympaid is runing)
that any one can do at any lvl.
say you a mass 4 player group vs's another 4 player group you all have to be same grade and with in 5 lvls of each other, the you duke it out with the other team for prises like EW's & EA's, or quick pots, mana pots and stuff like that or even SS of the grade you are. and you have to a mass alot of points to get it.
My idea is very simular to the olympaid, yet it alows every one to do it, and give players a chance at geting valueable items and learning how to PvP each other.
while at the same time not effecting the olympaid which is very importent for the high lvls and the heros.
Your not getting the point, you can't "do" a mini-game or an event its official. I don't see ways in which you can grief there.

I see how it is, no one wants to discouse my idea's.
Guess having use of the waste of game space such as the collieum isn't importent enough that I had a good idea about it.
Everyone just hangs out at the race track because it is the easiest location to get to. It's such a shame that the col isnt used as often as it should be. Gives players freedom to move.

instead of making it so u cant get out make it so u do a deposit, say u were in HV. you deposit 11k(i think thats the port cost) to go there, if you leave the coliseum you lose your deposit. but if you teleport back w/o leaving then you get your money back. (of course couldnt be used during aden siege)
Our clan / alliance goes there about every other week for PvP stuff. Yes, it is empty, but that means that we ususally have it for the whole evening.
Only once did we have a griefer, but when everyone just kills them as soon as they get on the field, well, that is the end of that.
I like the idea of level PvP, but there you end up with the Rock-Paper-Sissors so the same people always win.
3v3 seems to be one of the best. More than that, ususally it is the bow users who live on, everyone else just dies
