Direct Post Linking

Is there a way to link directly to a specific post in a thread rather than the entire thread itself?

Also, is there any way to shorten the length of one of these links?

I'm planning to link to specific stories in my thread in the Tales section, but the links are so long that I can barely fit anything else in my sig.

You can get a link to a specific post by switching from flat to threaded view. Its the button on the right near the top of each page.

Other than hiding them behind UBB Code, I doubt it.

Do the link in this way:

see the "Post647127" at the end? Every post has a number above it, directly below the title of the post, in the form #647127 - 07/19/06 12:25 AM (this e.g. is the second post in this thread). Just copy the link to the page in the thread from the address bar and paste the number of the post you want from that page at the end.

As far as shortening the link is concerned, try the URL ubb code (replace brackets with square brackets):

(url=<address here>)
then the text you want instead of the link
(/url)

e.g.

(url=http://www.xyz.com)blahblah(/url)

and a RL example:

The link from above in short form (http://boards.lineage2.com/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=647123&page=0&view=collap sed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1#Post647127)

You can actually leave quite a large chunk of the link out though - you only need the first and last number with the associated words, really.

So

becomes

http://boards.lineage2.com/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=647123&part=1#Post647127

Also, I've never even heard of Utamono. I really need to get to work on more anime.

Just to picky, Utamono doesn't match any series when you search for it. Utawarerumono (http://anidb.info/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=3427) , however, seems to be the series referred to.

Utamono is the short version, like Furuba/AyaCe/Ruroken etc. :p Sorry for the mix-up!

just a suggestion, but you could start a LiveJournal account. It's free and no one needs to be a member to read your entries. This way all your stories are in order, east to find and easy to comment on. Plus everyone will know exactly where to find your new stuff and you dont have to keep updating the link to your sig. Just a thought. I<3 RPers.
