An Update on Lineage Radio and Requests!

I am writing to you to give you a quick update on everything that is going on with Lineage Radio. I know that many of you are currently on the edge of your seats waiting for the new station to pop up and give you the great tunes and in game contests that you all have been waiting for. Well, I am here to report to you the progression of this guaranteed awesome station, but first a few announcements:

1) We are still currently looking for DJs to help us fill the ranks here at Lineage Radio. Experience or not, we are looking for the most entertaining and enjoyable DJs on the internet to help create content that everyone will be looking forward to!

Excerpt from the lineage radio website:
The DJ's are the life and blood of our station. We are always on the look out for talented people with a passion for music and the Lineage 2 community. Applicants must have a drive for creating fun and original in-game community events within Lineage II.
Requirements:
• Must be available Monday - Sunday
• Able to DJ at least 9 hours a week.
• Must be 18 or older.
• Must be willing to work in a team environment.
• Must be able to pass an audition with a TMSBroadcasting
• Passion for Lineage 2.

There has never been anything closer to the truth. The DJs are the epicenter of our broadcasting universe and we need more! If you think that you have a “radio voice” or have an interesting personality, I encourage you to PLEASE apply as soon as you can! We want DJs of all experience types from professionals to people who have never picked up a microphone! So if you had any doubts, forget them and just go for the gold! Become part of the Lineage Radio Family!


2) We are looking for people to fill out our News staff! These reporters of the internet write up opinions and report on current news in NCSoft and Lineage in general for both our website and our on air staff! These individuals are the hungry go-getters who make our interaction with the listeners soar to new heights and always make sure that we are absolutely reporting on what the community wants to know.


3) The Live Events team is responsible for all the in-game interaction that contributes to the listeners and the community! We create events for people to participate in such as: role playing, quests, dance parties, anything! If you can think it up and believe that it is completely possible to do in game, we will do it!! If you want to stretch your creative wings and create a place where the community can come together, this is the job for you!!!

Now, I wish to address different topics that have come up over the last few weeks about the whereabouts of this station. We are hiring people and executing our plan of action to get this station up as soon as possible, but always need more people to jump on board! I personally as a station manager refuse to let this station air without the content that you, the community, deserve and will not let it go live without the professional quality befitting of a radio station of the Lineage Community.

Please be patient as I personally am trying to work as quickly as possible to get the station you all deserve.

I'll give you an interview, but that's about it. This reminds me of a story...

I had two cats and on a bad day of fishing, I only got this one small fish. It wasn't enough for me so I decided to let my cats have it. They smelled the fish in dedain and walked away from it.

So I picked up the plate, then I made the automatic can opener work for about 10 seconds, then I placed the plate of fish back on the ground. It took the cats less than 1 second to jump on the fish.

They can know EXACTLY where the cat snacks are - they jump up on the kitchen table, open the cupboard, pull out the closed box of cat snacks they saw you put in there after you came back from shopping and rip it open. Or if they feel they have been treated unfairly, they act as if you are invisible, and later on you notice that they placed their digestion end products right NEXT to the (clean) kitty litter box, in protest. All that makes you think "yep, cats are intelligent animals who can actually observe things and plan accordingly". I'm looking for staffers who will give me news about everything Lineage 2. From player based events, like your Kainmotion, to NCsoft hosted events. To write about them and put a good article placed onto a link on our website. We also would like to keep up with our own events and reporting on those also. And in general news throughout the Lineage Community.

The news team provides a variety of different ways to help on air and off air by writing and recording different scripts that are played on air, to helping create those news stories as above mentioned.

I believe what the Devil is trying to say here is that you can fish for DJs and reporters, but if want the cats to go for it you're going to need some quality (or at least, you need to make the cats think you have quality). A good place to start would be these forums, specifically players like Splatter who have been around this game for 2 years (not to mention he's a true newbie helper, a good trait in a volunteer). That and if you want real quality you need to shell out the $2 for a can of fish with some flavoring (Or in this case, pay your news team. Of course perks work just as well but they work better when advertised).

There is a limit to how much Good can understand about Evil, so I may be misinterpreting this.

In any case, good luck with your radio station, I'm interested to see how it turns out.

The station manager and I have thoroughly gone through each and every of the applications and have selected yours for an interview to become part of our team! Please respond to this email with times that you would be able to meet for an interview during next week. I would ask that if at all possible you try to keep it after 5pm EST, if this is a problem then we may be able to work out something special for you. Expect the interview to last anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour. You should be familiar with SAM Broadcaster and have some music that would be appropriate for the radio. We are looking for exciting and interesting DJs to fill our ranks and want you to be as comfortable as possible on air.

Actually, before my interview I had never even heard of SAM broadcaster, nor done any serious mic work.

After you are accepted, I point the potential interviewee in the direction of SAM Broadcaster and ask them to familiarize themself with the client. Loading songs, playing those songs and turning the mic on and off.

This is a requirement for the Audition/Interview which is done at the same time. I also encouraged many of those people in later emails to come to the IRC channel, chat with me to field any questions on the actual Broadcaster. Which, some did and some did not.

I teach them how to do the rest in the interview process ^^.

That letter should have been worded : "you should become familiar with SAM Broadcaster". I'm sorry if the wording seemed a bit off.

I, in no way, expect anyone to know the SAM Broadcaster, since I had never used it before when I applied to one of our sister stations almost a year ago.

I run DJ's through a training process and I make sure they are familiar with SAM before they even go on the LIVE radio. You do not have to walk in with knowledge.

Again that letter may have been badly worded, many of the canidates that were hired had no working knowledge of SAM Broadcaster (In fact I dont think any of them did) and/or never been on air.


Splatter, re-apply. Put your app back through our process if you really want to join. Those applications come directly to me now. Directly.

I do have to say we need more action and less talk. I was pushing hard when a radio station was first talked about. I was even willing, even if it was on a temporary basis to get some music on...

Now it's been over a month and the station is still silent.

The problem is that one or two people can't do it alone. We need more people to get involved and help.

Well it does look as though there's new management. As shonen said, he'd be looking at your application directly this time. Personally I think you'd be a good volunteer somewhere on the staff, though I guess there's no helping it if you've lost interest entirely by now.

I don't think it's a "lost interest" issue. I think he probably feels slighted by his original rejection. Why go through that again? I can't say that I really blame him either.

Sometimes mistakes happen, and the true pearls that would normally shine out brilliantly get lost in ths shuffle. I know it's happened to me.

Well, Lineage 2 has a large community and a lot of it is here, and I'm not 100% certain on other servers, but especially on Bartz, most of the active high level players like all the nobles, heroes, the people who won the battle tournament... they aren't exactly active at all on these forums. Most of the day to day drama and player driven news (like new wars, stuff like that) unfolds over at l2blah and stuff, not here. Having someone connected with the real news of the servers would add a lot to the radio, but I dunno if it'd be possible.

It'd be cool if the radio could get some stuff on the "in" and elite part of the community as well.

i would like to apply, but i cant. too much else to do. it would mean stop playing L2 OR stop working.

there just arent enough hours in the day to accomodate Real life, and L2 AND radio.

i have one suggestion to make both the application process easier and more appealing: state you ned to DJ for Minimum 2hrs per day. more DJing is welcomed (as you are afterall a volunteer) but not necessary.

this will get MANY personalities on air, much more diverse music content etc, more views, more everything except a lot easier for us who cant make 9 hr shifts for no money.

1-2 even 3 hrs maybe i could swing per night for a few nights a week. no mroe, i mean more is really a fuill time job and nobody will work so hard for so little man.

Hmmm, you're pretty tenacious...

Look buddy you're talking to people who pump in all their free time into a game called L2. Furthermore, you don't see most of the people here, because most people would just rather play the game than post on these boards.

So imagine how wanting to take 9 hours of my week you could sway me empty promises and asking me to send you an application. When I said interview, I meant I would appear on one of your shows to be interviewed.

Look buddy I'm a celebrity around here, and a doctor of some sort in my field. So everybody wants free advice or free time with me, you're just another one of them.

But before I give you 9 hours of my week, you'll have to make me a better proposition than just some empty promises. You're affiliated with L2, beg for swag buddy.

Oh and get Splatter as a DJ. Don't try to get him to apply again. YOU go for him. Good grief you need to learn to attack targets of choice.

So its just 3 "DJ sets" over a 7 day period :P Pretty easy for a DJ to get a good fan base and have a great time doing a steady show that people can get into!

Are you going to let the dj's pick their own playlists with news interspersed within? is this strickly done over the web and no moving to a different location just to be a dj? Is music knowledge (i.e. knowing bout the bands and what they are doing now) matter? I'm just wondering bout these. I'll probably have more later.

1) Yes you can do more than 9 hours a week if you want
2) Music comes from the DJs personal collections and we do not restrict what music you play other than having a content restriction which we go over in the interview.
3) There could in the future for DJs be a "hotclock" that is implemented. More on that if you apply.
4) All of this is over the net. No Moving needed.
5) Usually if you have something to say about the band its good because its conversation but i'll never test you on knowing what the band was eating in Tokyo on thier tourbus during their famous 1974 tour. No :P

we follow regular radio formats. So yeah make sure they are or CAN be edited (we do some of our own editing on songs)

If you have 1 comp you can play while you dj or if you have 2 sure...no one is gonna stop you ^^

plus is every app considered or do you just take certain ones that look the best? reason i ask is that i know alot about music and have a huge collection but i don't have radio experince, unless you count making playlists and burning cd's of song to listen to while i drive, work, or play as experience. I just want to make sure that i won't be wasteing my time, and your by applying is all. If everyone is consider seriously then i'll go apply right now. sorry just not a big time waister of ppls time.....sort of. :p

L2raido is a joke imo, you want good work you have to pay people, l2raido is going to be making money off volunteers work. what are the perks? I see none.

We have perks....You just have to apply for me to tell you about them :) The reason *I* do not want the perks broadcasted is because I want people that WANT to be here. NOT people who are just here for the perks and end up with me firing them.(A task which i LOATHE doing) It's happened before....and I'm not going to let it happen with this station!

Now you're next argument will be that you need QUALITY and you need to pay them. Simply not true. People will want to do thier best for the community and if the community will actually let them, there will be LOADS of content that has YET to be shown to you all. Please do not judge a book by its cover! Very soon there will be an announcement floating up! This station is being pulled directly FROM the community so that 1) Player based events can be created by LRadio 2) DJs will talk about L2 3) That people will have a DIRECT line with the radio by playing in game with DJs.

Now if you still dont believe me, Go to one of our sister stations off of www.lineageradio.com. (http://www.lineageradio.com.) Each one is handled in a professional manner and handled so that its directed towards the community. This "job" (if you want to call it that, mind you I sure wouldn't) is nothing but a few hours a week hanging out in the game you LOVE and playing with other people. It's a great way to meet MORE players and create more friends.

I have had alot of people apply already who are viewing this very seriously ^^. I find it very interesting that everyone needs to be "paid" to do something fun and interesting for the community. I have had some pretty "famous" people around here already apply....so i think you will be pleasantly surprised when we go up.

To be honest, i don't have the music to pull something like that off being a DJ.

So i went for a ingame helper position, but i'm not sure where thats going.

Right now from what i could see in the IRC chat. They need more help in there more then anything so i applied for that and i got the questionnaire. But after looking over that one, i don't even know about that working out. I'll still give it a try but i doubt i'll get in.

so what happens if you got a invite for a interview and to meet in the chat room and download some software and then for unforseen circumstances you just now get the invite and didnt make it on that original date?
