I been grinding for like 2-3hrs and i only got 1 pollen :(,
is it just be me or the drops rates are to low ?, plus u need 50 pollens for a big seed , thats too much and this event is only for 3 more days....
When it 1st started i was geting close to 30 at 2 buff cycles. I ended up getting like 3 in the same time frame a few hours later. Seems to get borked or they changed something.
The fact that the drop rate differs based on time zone or server activity is ******ed though. I would really like to take a peek into the designers' heads sometime... it must be an interesting place.
regardless of what the designers did or didnt do all the OP can do is get out there and try for more. Coming here angry isnt going to help him at all in the event. Drop rates are crap on everything. Its part of the L2 charm.
Actually, drop rates on this event aren't that low: During peak hours, about 90 in the time he said he was hunting, where he got three. That's a lot more reasonable in terms of actually getting any rewards, and the spread should be either that nobody gets any seeds (as the OP) or all get the good drops.
At least whine about real whiners, not about the ones making a valid point clumsily.
Almost seems like they base the drops off something like this.
Every 2 minutes there is a small window of opportunity of a drop for maybe 20 seconds. If you kill several NPC within that 20 seconds you have a chance to get a drop. If you a slow kill then you wont get as many chances. I only say this because playing my HE now I can kill very fast at my current loc and I see the drops in groups rather than every other mob..
Anyone coming here upset about an event is not making a valid point. This is a feature that is not normally in the game. It was given to us to mix it up a bit. Either enjoy it or go find something else to do. Seems it would be the same thing as me whining that I have been here for 2 years and am no where near the top level. I didnt apply myself to that goal and NC must have really dropped the ball there. Same principal apllies to this event as every other part of this game. You want it. Go work for it.
It was like this last time too, the drops fluctuated wildly during different times. I got 55 last night in a few hours, and 3 this morning in an hour. It all works out though I think... sorta frustrating but hey. Free stuff!
Anyone coming here upset about an event is not making a valid point.
Who are you to tell to people to be quiet when people are saying they are not having fun becuase the drop rate of the event is sporadic? We do not sit here and tell you that you are not having fun becuase you have yet to reach level 40 and you are clanless.
Respect people's opinions instead of calling them whiners.
I didnt tell him he's not having fun. I noticed by his  that he is not having fun. The fact is I am having a blast with this game. Being under 40 and clanless is part of my fun. AND you will notice that Abyss walker is a second class change which means somewhere along the way I passed 40. Not to mention all my toons are not in my sig. Quit whining and I will respect anything anyone has to say. Did you expect NC to give you stuff? Its an event. either enjoy it or dont participate.
Its a very fun event, this is a general issue with events and only giving rewards at certain hours of the day, penalizing regular players for no real good reason.
It feels extra bad this time because the event is very short and you need alot of pollen to get just one large one, and at 1-3 pollen per hours, thats 20 hours of solid gameplay in 4 days you have to do if you happen to play during non-peak hours.
Its a valid issue and it doesn't detract from that the Squash event rocks otherwise (except for timespan)
Quit whining and I will respect anything anyone has to say.
You are the one whining about the "whiners".
If you do not want to be kicked out of another clan I suggest you clean up your attitude and try to stay above 40 this time and not go perm red.

I got booted from a recent clan for pvp'ing to much and im not looking to join a clan and as for my perma red thats a choice I make in the game. I never whined. I pointed out that some these people are cry babies. ok you say your having fun with the event. Why defend the guy thats here complaining? I have never in my life seen so many people upset about something they call a hobby. I cant defend all the things that goes on with NC but for gods sake's take the good with the bad. Shut up and play the game. If someone cant handle it get the [censored] out of the game the same way you came it. clean up my additude? hah not going to happen. I play my way and have yet to cry about what goes on in game.
ok you say your having fun with the event. Why defend the guy thats here complaining?
Simply because he has a valid complaint. The drop rate is too low during certain hours and there's no official info citing the alternating drop rates throughout the event. To someone who only plays during the low drop hours, the event offers little fun and seems to be a waste of time. I can play a lot during this event, and I've already gotten enough pollen for several large squash. That doesn't mean I can't recognize that the drop rate is unfair to people who can't play during my normal hours.
Instead of taking the good with the bad, I'd rather people spoke up about the bad in hopes of improvements. Events are one of the few things that NC NA actually has some control over thus pointing out the flaws in their events can lead to better ones in the future.
ok fair enough. But for the last I dont know how many months there have been tons of complaints about events and all you ever see is "This event sucks why cant NC do more events like pumpkins or medals?" well then they listen to the subscribers and do just that. Now there are more compliants about how bad the event is. Now I will admit there are several issues NC needs to address. But I want to know what they have to do as far as events go to score some points with there player base. This is the exact event most people have been asking for. To my knowledge is it an enjoyable event with some good rewards. So what do they have to do? and rather than going OMG I didnt get any reward!! why not consider yourself lucky when you do? After all I never saw anywhere where NC said everyone is a winner in this event. Maybe I just dont get it. You guys call it a valid complaint. I say NC has way bigger issues to deal with. I think in this particular case they were trying to make an event that would be enjoyable and really its the same exact thing as if you were trying to get a certain drop off a mob. If you dont get it try again. The part im confused about is how NC can listen to what the majority is asking for for an event and piss so many people off at the same time.
I cant even play at all during the event. should I ask them to reschedule the dates for when its more convenient for me?
No, you should ask them for
1. Longer events.
2. Advanced warning on events.
Either that or accept your plight. If you stay quiet when things aren't going your way you can expect things to continue as such.
I have accepted that I cant play. Really I dont think they have to give any notice whatsoever for an event. Even if they did give me notice I still had life things to take care of. One thing I realize it that things WILL NOT always go how I want them to. I deal with it. Its not up to me to ask NC to make the event longer because it just dont accomadate me. Ill catch the next one and I will thank them for giving me an event.

I agree with the above completely. I think the whining can get out of hand at times. I guess the only reason I feel the OP shouldn't be tagged a "whiner" is because It was not intolerant and rude. The problems I have are when they are outright flames and have nothing constructive. The OP wasn't exactly constructive either but at least it was said politely.
I agree with the basic idea of your post, but the OP is pointing out a legitimate design flaw in the event. He did not flame NC or scream about the sorry state of the game.
For me, this has been the most fun event I've ever participated in on L2. That doesn't mean I don't expect NC to try harder however, I want this game to improve with time and that includes the events. Next time a pumpkin/squash event rolls around it could be more fun for everyone if this and a few other concerns were dealt with.

Compleetly agree with you here.
It's even worth for me, since due to vacation I will only have 1.5 days of this event but of well. Vacation abroad is a valid replacement for a event. Is it ?
Its not penalizing for no good reason. It is to keep as much of the rewards of the event in the hands of the legitimate players as possible which is a plenty good reason IMO. Heck, I am on vacation today and haven't been getting much pollen and I guess hopefully during the day on the weekend they boost it up since many of us are out weekend nights. Anyway, I agree with the system even if many do have a problem with it.

If by legitimate you mean in american time zone you are right, but for all of us that are NOT in that time zone this is simply bad.
When I started playing this game there were 3 servers, teon was NOT one of them. Its time that NC NA recognized they have a large non USA player base for a change.

no, teon was not one of them and server transfers were promised and not given. The thing is they arent going to add things that will hurt the NA players on their servers to support the small population outside of the 3 hour CST time zone range.
Did they promise something they never gave? YES
Should the majority of players suffer for it? Nah
Anyway, I cant imagine server transfers ever coming and they wont change or add times to suit non north america players on north america servers whether they are considered international or not. The sooner you accept that the less angry you will get each and every time they do something that favors only their central audience.
they arent out of whack, figure in your mind when most people are online. Evenings and weekends...thats when they up the rates.
Question is ... why?
Cannot see any valid reason why they should waste time on introducing time-dependant drop chances. It is simply a lot of work for no good reason at all, except to piss off players who cannot play at US peak hours.
To those who scream "you wanted the pumpkin event again, now you got it, why do you complain?":
Yes, this is the event idea we wanted again. But it is not the SAME event. It is a.) shorter and b.) the drop rate seems far worse. So for many players it is only a kind of "teaser" - for me it seems that by the end of the event I *might* have enough pollen for one large pumpkin...

Last pumpkin event, castle lords and server economies suffered from the high drop rates. Enchants dropped in value *a value set by the market* due to massive introduction from drops. Castle lords no longer have a reason to use manors and quit because the enchant prices are awful. The mat prices quickly skyrocket and get out of wack so bad that the server complains that the event broke the economy *which it did and is why events are so important to control*
In truth these drop rates are perfect. Make a few pumpkins maybe stand a lucky chance at extra items. Everyone seems to want to make 100+ M off the event, which is just unrealistic. If everyone just made 100 M in extra crap, everything would just go haywire. I think the drop rates are just lowered from previous event because of all the complaints.
LOL? Are you serious? The prices on enchants only dropped from absurdly expensive to moderatly expensive. The manor system was already messed up on many servers long before the pumpkin event. Heck ours didn't start working until after the pumpkin event.
And after the event, the enchant prices soared even higher than they had ever been.
The same inflation was said about level 8-10 crystals, yet they sell for 3-4 times the price they did before the pumpkin event now.

Really? You think C weapon enchants should cost less in regular adena than they cost in ancient adena from mammon? Cause that's what happened on Hinde.
I doubt this event was designed to be EXACTLY like the pumpkin event. It's a EVENT, don't take it for granted. Just have fun its a game...many people forget that.
I think they could stand to drop that's for sure. On Kain EWC's went from 500k up to 1 mill, B's went from 300k (seriously) to 1.8 mill, and EWA from 6 mill back up to 12. That's insane. I hope to see lower prices after this event ><
you're telling me it's wrong, it's 4x on my server. T.T; 1AA=4a. Tell me, wth is up with that? Two months ago you could buy it at 1:1, or sell it at 2:1.
Thats because in the off hours the drop rates almost zero out, while during the peak hours the droprate is huge.
It should be a more steady amount all day long.
I so much agree...
Yesterday 10 hours+ xp only 40 items. This morning 6 am till 8 am close to a 100 in less then 2 hours. Dang peak hours mean I have to play at night and sleep through the day. Don't you love the difference in time zones :( They don't seems to realize lot of Europe bases players play other servers then Teon as well.
Absolutely.
Cause it should be: 1AA=1a
That AA is more expensive is wrong.
So nothing is wrong with prices below Mammon's during an event.
So Mammon should be an expensive route to obtain items? Hold on hold on. Only a few mobs in Aden drop AA (far fewer than those that drop adena) and adena should be worth more? Wait wait I think I almost got it, the manor system profits drop so low that doing seeds becomes worthless when castle lords are barely making 10% off the manor...that's what's logical.
Me: Woot for 10 chilly cobol per animal bone!
Castle Lord: I wish I could pay you more but I'd lose money on the enchants :(
Me: That's ok, expensive mats and cheap enchants are GREAT for the economy.

I always have problem finding level 7-8 crystals. Since they are worth so much just go level em yourself and sell them. You could sell dozens in a day. There is no right to complain about prices of items that are easily obtainable if you wanted to do the work.

It takes 10 mins to make a lvl 7 soul crystal lol. I wish my server valued them over 200k :p

Assuming you have the right level toon. Trying to get a crystal anywhere past 3 if you're level ~40 on any kind of non-solo/dualboxed char is an immense chore.
Silviera gave me a million adena the other day, so I agree with him. :)
No seriously tho, it's true the drop rates vary according to time of day, and that pretty much sucks. Rumor has it it was hard coded in the event to respect Korean peek hours.
Since NCNA aren't allowed to do much more than change pumpkin to squash from one event to the other, I would be surprised if this ever changed.
I'd have to agree with Sith, something similar happened on devianne with the pumpkin one. So, Nc appears to have listened to the complaints (or something similar happened in korea and they listened, much more likely).
Players: There were too many drops! it killed the economy
-Nc implements events with small rewards to prevent economy crashing
Players: We need more reward! bring back the pumpkin event!
-Nc brings back the pumpkin event, just different name, and shorter length/lowered pollen drop rates to prevent economy crashing
Players: Hey! it's just a copy of the pumpkin event! it's too short! not enough drops!
With the rate people complain i'm surprised we still get events :)
It would be fine if it was a slight difference (ok, no it wouldn't, but it would be better at least), but the difference during peak hours and normal hours is staggering. You can get 50 pollen in an hour during peak hours, but if your play schedule leaves you at another time you'll be lucky to get 5 in an hour (I actually played 2 hours this morning without a single one dropping). For people that can't play during peak hours for one reason or another, the event doesn't even exist. People who don't live in NA and those who simply can't play during peak hours are an integral part of our servers.
I wouldn't say it's NC listening to complaints either, as everyone seems to be reporting the same drop rules were in effect during the pumpkin event. I wasn't here during it, but I imagine the players were less vocal about the issue due to the long length of the event. Besides, castle owners can make plenty of money during the event anyway. Any effects on the enchant market are transient at best, that's why most event drops are consumables.
Correcting this problem doesn't have to mean upping the drop rates to crash the economy anyway. The drops simply have to be normalized, something around 25 pollen per hour on average. That way anyone who participates in the event actually participates in the event, as it should be.
Its silly, the prices took a dip, but were still much worth than they were when the whole manoring started. Considering the bragging I see on my own server of castlelord profits, its no small loss just because enchants temporarily go down (then then raise even further up in price)
Castle lords are the biggest whiners.
And heck, alot of their profit is overenchanting weapons they get themselves and make a large profit selling.
I do agree that the varying drop rate is silly. It should either be a max number of drops/x amount of time, and if the max isn't reached (ie. 4am cst or something) then the excess is rolled over to the next period of time. However, I also understand why drop rates seem to be lower overall (pollen seems to be more expensive than last time as far as memory serves) and the event is shorter, to limit damage to the economy. However, I do like how we seem to be getting more events now, just i wish we had a little notice in advance for players that need to know in advance for schedualing(sp?) etc.
Blahblah, castle lords just push losses onto manorers, weren't the ones whining, blahblah~
Anyway, the problem is not the reduced drop rate, but, as pointed out, the difference in drop rates based on which time you play.
It makes you wonder: Does the same hold true for regular and quest drops? In my case, that would explain the "luck" I had with full drops on Faelir compared to what Mielle has seen, simply because I played in the whee morning hours a lot more with Fael.
I look at my pollen (12 so far, during the entire event, mostly doing aoe groups), so I ask in my clan thinking maybe we can pool our pollen to make a large squash.
Me: Hey, how much pollen do you guys have?
Clannies: 170
Clannies: 132
Clannies: 42, I just spent mine on 3 squashes
Well, as much as I liked the pumpkin event (C3, so Big Boom worked and could offset the drop rate variations for me), this event simply isn't.
I mass murdered about 4 hours at the beast farm yesterday and have 6 pollen to show for it. So obviously there will be not even a single large "thingy" down the road for me, considering that I don't have that time during weekdays.
"WTS pollen, 50k!"
Absolutely.

Not worth more. If you look at NPC prices, it's quite clear that the base value of AA is 1a. Hence 20% markup on Mammon items. That servers have AA valued anywhere between 1,5 (like it was on Teon not that long ago - now it's closer to 2a) and 4 a is just players/markets impact.
Both base materials and enchants are grossly overpriced and I imagine that the whole system was intended to work in drastically different conditions. Markup on both enchants and materials below 20%....
....... to limit damage to the economy. ............
Animal Bone now 1900, used to be 750.
Varnish now 1700, used to be 650.
EWA now 9 - 12 million, used to be 5m.
A grade helmets up for sale for anything between 200 & 400 million.
BW Tunic now 30+ million, used to be 10-14 million.
Lvl 12 SA crystals 80+million and lvl 13s 500million.
I'd say the economy was pretty much damaged to such an extent that an event like this isn't going to effect it even if pollen dropped at 5 every mob and we all opened 1000 large squash every day.
I never thought that NCSoft could mess up this event but they have proven me wrong again. How difficult can it be to have a balanced drop rate throughout the period of the event in order to satisfy your entire customer base (Australians, Europeans, Americans, Russians etc.)
And before some [censored] says "Go and play on Teon", I shall say that when NCNA accepts it's responsibility (by removing the automated players that plague Teon far worse than any other server) and lives up to it's promises (by providing server transfers) then I will happily do so. Until then they should cater for the entire customer base of all their servers.
PLEASE BALANCE THE **** DROP RATE NEXT TIME YOU USE THIS EVENT!!

Actually even that doesn't help... much. I play on Teon nad drops are still nerfed during a weekend day... (begin to be better in the evening I guess).

Considering you can sell AA to the system for 1a, I'd say the system price for it is around 2a.
We just had a price drop for the buyback, although the enchants took the same nosedive - many seeds simply got halved, thirded, etc. None of the manor lords at the time ran manors just for the rest of the server, so they were still profitable, and it was still possible.
But of course, Hinde is different, I guess.
PS: An event that would limit damages on the economy would be one that drops base mats or recipes... since they get used up fast anyway.

Judging by the times I have encountered, pollen drop rate is maximized between 6pm and midnight. Why that should be the case at a weekend (or at all to be honest) is completely and utterly beyond me.
Saturday I figured I would go out and farm some Pollen but after 2 hours and only 2 pollen I opted for the buy shop for real cheap pollen. But seems there is none of that around either. Some people seem to think Pollen is the get rich now substitute since many people are trying to sell it for 100k or more for pollen. I remember nector going for 3k apiece and I thought that was high

drop rates are different this time around...plus the drops can often not justify the cots of buying it. Even at 30k a piece thats still 1.5 mil for one pumpkin and it could only be 4 a crystals.

You must be joking. Prices on enchants and stage 11+ soul crystals are insane when compared to the cost of the equipment they go on.
The castle owners are a minority on the server. What is best for them is not best for the server. If a castle owner can't afford his castle he can always move out.
The high cost of enchants, etc., just encourages people to buy adena to pay for them.
Compared to the pumpkin event, this one sucks. So far every event this year has sucked, espescially when compared to similiar events in the past. NCSoft did a poll to see which events people liked. The pumpkin event rated very high. So why did they have to screw with it?
After about 15-17 hours of play this weekend, I ended up with 70 pollen. Wow. Our clan managed 5 raid bosses this weekend for a grand total of 5 pollen (nothing else dropped). One of my friends went an hour 2-boxing, without any pollen.
To get the most pollen you must solo (or 2-box). This actually works against clan hunts and raids, or helping people out with their quests.
The fun starts when you start bashing your squash. I will probably end up with 2 large squash, for a total of 5 minutes of bashing fun. The is essentially another NCSoft non-event.
