Class, Mdef and damage

ok the way i understand it the only things that effect the damage you take from a magic attack is mdef and whatever elemental resists you might have

today as i was partied with my SE i decided to check the damage she was receiving in case she might get magic crited and die
i would recieve 425 damage and she would recieve 397
fair enough i thought, she prolly has more mdef than my dwarf due to mdef masteries

problem is she has 30 less mdef than me and is 3 lvls lower but still takes less damage than me

now you guys know me and i'd love to turn this into another "dwarves are nerfed" thread but before i do that i'd like to know if any other classes have noticed this

so what exactly is the X factor that makes it so a SE with less mdef than a dwarf takes less damage from a magic attack?
Dwarves are a race of the earth, thus have no magic skills -> do not know how to protect oneself from magic? :p
higher MEN maybe? since MEN affects m.def .... :)
different races get different bonuses. Mystics get a higher multiplier on m def and Orcs get the highest (rarely see it on the destro or tyrant cause their m def is so low).

Its race specific.
resist/weakness magic buff, otherwise equal m.def gives equal damage received.

thus my point

higher men = more mdef
just because my se has higher men does not mean it has higher mdef

as i stated in my original post my se has 30 less mdef than me thus when it gets hit with a magic attack it should take more damage than me

for those hard of understanding.
say my se has 500 mdef
i have say 700 because i have better jewlery/more lvls
now logically if a mob hits her (my SE) for 500 damage it should hit me for say 400
in fact the opposite is true i have more mdef but get hit for more damage

so what would you call that? bug? game design?
im actually curious to know if it effects other classes or if this is another hiddden dwarf nerf

if anyone gets a chance can they pop into the arena and do a trial
ok new try to explain my point :p

let's assume the following:
SE: MEN 30 = 300 m.def + jewelry/mastery = 200 m.def --> 500 m.def
BH: MEN 15 = 200 m.def + jewelry/mastery = 500 m.def --> 700 m.def

what i meant: m.def gained by MEN is 'better' then m.def gained by jewelry/mastery ;)
You can't blame the difference in damage on different Men scores. Changing that does change the mdef displayed in game, so it isn't some sort of hidden bonus.
Still, somebody who has a higher mdef number in the character stats should not receive MORE damage than somebody who has a lower mdef number there, since that mdef number already contains mdef bonus due to MEN, jewelry, masteries and so on.

Only thing I can think of is resist buffs (resist wind/fire/...)
Passive skill called antimagic

I already said .

Its a slighlt multipler on magic resist from ur race

this is correct o.o
their is no passive resists
only thing that matter for magic damage is your mdef and any type of resist buffs you might have

i think i might have worked out what happened i just have to go back today and check
