speaking from experience, ive found that the dark elf race of knight have an easier time soloing at higher lvls than the elfs. the damage output from a bladedancer compared to a sword singer is considerably higher. same goes for shillien knight and temple knights (tanks). if your looking to solo as a mage, go spell howler hands down. best mage solo class. im giving a general outlook of the races. u didnt specify much on ur post.
But thinking light elf for the sword knight, maybe archer as dark elf, with nuker mystic in both
but not really much for buffing, and actually prefer to get up close and smack things in melee (but love a good damage spell)
Not really much for pvp, mainly looking at pve (for now)
Really just want a good char to level solo for the early levels (since most startign areas are barren or filled with dwarfs played by speed addicts hitting too many keys at once)
either way, youre gonna need to bring up enough adena to get two toons to work well.
so in order to do that whatever class youre gonna pick works well doing a raid.
raid, long and hard. it will be the only way you will afford gear for two toons independently.
neither is easier than the other imo. when youve got enough adena to start spamming ss / bsps THEN we can say whos better than who, but youll be a long time in getting to that point man.
i would suggest you go tank first, get a feel for the game's grind and difficulty; wait until you can afford your first brigandine armor set and have a decent sword and shield then consider raising a nuker. the process of getting to know difficulty of mobs makes it faster to grind a level out on a lesser toon.
along the way youll discover your own playstyle and killstyle, and youll get to know a bit about how well groups work with different members.
so what im saying is: play your tank, when your gear is adequate switch to nuker. dont do both at the same time.
in regard to whos better than who in terms of races, i would say at higher levels an SK can hold his own far better than any TK.
i consistently see Spellsingers ra.p.e.i.n.g SpellHowlers cancelling their casts cause they cast far too fast.
anyone knows speed > power for pvp. show me an SH that can mercilessly slaughter a nonbot nonnewb equal level sps in identical gear and tattoos, ill show you some oceanfront property in arizona.
but i didnt come here to argue that, i would rather you stick to the first bits of advice in my post.

me no like spudnik 'cause spudnik make me cry :(
(of course is doesn't make it any less true)
To the OP: I do far, far more damage in one cast then any equal lvl Spell Singer (light elf mage) but at the end of the day, they will most likely wipe the floor with me unless I can land silence.
I think Shilien Knight would be the best... some sword play, some spells... some magical cubics flying around your shoulder... yeah.. that might be it.
The logical choices that just about everyone chooses are:
<ul type="square">
bladedancer or shillien knight for knight class
spellhowler for solo nuker
but if you want to be more unique or have something a bit more challenging go:
<ul type="square">
sword singer, a much needed defensive support class (they have a few great offensive songs too)
spell singer for overpowered PvP nuker (lots of downtime solo however, due to always running out of mana)
any summoner for great solo class and PvP support
Created a set of characters so if one gets boring or tiresome i can switch. don't plan to twink, just let each stand on thier own (so some will be a pain to level)
