love this event as well. and the market need a firm touch from a hard fist! prices are going insane! I doubt this 4 days event will change much tho. I realy thougth the market would flood with pollens, like it was flooded with nectars last event. but it seems as the drop-rate are smaller, and event is shorter. would love to be able t buy AA for 1,2 adena each instead of 4 adena... at least enchant scrolls will be a bit cheaper now. not very much I think tho. :(
but im glad the event stops today, cuz im going on vocation for 10 days :) dont want you all dto get an advantage on me hehe
Castle lords generate enchant scrolls (amongst other things) from people doing their manor seeds. When the market becomes flooded with enchant scrolls, their demand drops, their value drops, and the castle lords will lose money on running the manor system, so they disable it. Cue bone for 1,500a and varnish for 2,000a.
I agree that prices are weird sometimes. EAB's are 250k which is almost half of the price if you were to buy it from mammon using aa at 2a. Not sure why EWB's are in such extreme demand and why they don't drop in price.
yea...but..why would you sell an item below market price? I always sell for more then market price :) no profit elseway :)
you know, its not the farmers fault. its the players. if they buy for overprice, ofc farmers will rais prices. if ppl just stop buy some overpriced items for a week, you will se, farmers will lover their prices. they dont wanna fill their WHs and Mules with tons of items.
I honestly loved this event and wish that NCsoft would have made it longer, any reason why is was such a short one?? Thanks
My theory on the event's short-duration is that C5 is coming to the PTS on 7/27, and NCsoft wants people to go there. They won't if an event is still running, so....
1. The enchant scrolls would not drop that far down.
2. Any selfrespecting castlelord worth their salt would understand the concept of hoarding them or overenchanting weapons/armor in the rare case they did go down for a while.
3. The mat prices have never been nuts while such events going on, may I remind you that when the current prices went nuts, ENCHANT SCROLLS COST A FORTUNE, so much for the whole "oh noes, no manoring system" theory.

Don't even bother trying to explain that, people are way too ******ed to understand even simple things like that. I tried and tried and tried to make people understand that they lose out in the long run when events saturate the market. Sure, noobs might make money, but eventually, if the market is saturated for a long time with mats/scrolls the losses the lords make gets passed down to everybody.
The castle lords just like everyone else in this game that plays the market should know how to adapt with the changes. They can and will make money regardless of Enchant prices.

I have to agree with him.
half the reason every one complains about the drop rate and what we get for events is cause every one cares about what the castle lords do.
I've very rarely ever see a castle lord post to the boards.
I think the players care, but the lord make do and get what they can.
Castles make money from taxes to.
I think people need to be more considerate of the commin player rather then the main stream players or the bots.
Cause these last few events sucked...while this one had good rewords the drop rate was way too low.
BTW I still want more greatter compressed SS/Bsps for event prizes.

Having spent years lording over castles, I can tell you taxes are nothing to a Lord's income. The manor system has so much input/output that varies daytoday that most Lord's cant even tell you how much they make in taxes because it is so insignificant.
People keep thinking events are here to "get rich quick" and that's not the point. It really ruins the game to have an event drop so many items that the castle can't turn over profit on important seeds. Important seeds that produce 10s of thousands of animal bones for the server every single day. Would you like your server to go without 140,000 animal bones this week? How much do you think the price on bones alone would jump?
Events can't "fix" the market, and it's terribly naive to think that in 5 days you can change 2 years of infrastructure like that. There are many interdependant elements to the market that so many people look past. Too many greedy people simply want everything and that's what ruins the market.
And that's from one of the most active siegers on Hindemith in the past and certainly a lord last event when things were bad.
I don't think it's about greed for many but just the thrill of getting something worthwhile out of an event.
About the castle lords moaning over their income, well, it's like the oil companies moaning when the price of oil drops. They get used to the higher and higher profit margins that if it drops the slightest they moan because profits are not what they were compared to last year. In the meantime, it's the consumers getting shafted each time prices rise.
When Someone In Top S grade equipment with hundreds of millions of adena on hand complains about not making as much money, it is very hard to sympathize. Oh noes They make less money, mind you they are not losing money, they just arent making as much. Either way this event was a non-issue and it will only take a couple weeks for the prices to skyrocket again. On Kain Enchant Weapons prices were barely even touched.
My main point is that it doesn't take a genious to adapt to market fluctuations. And i'd hope the Castle Lords can learn to cope with thier temporary lower income.

^^ that right there is an 'almost' perfect analogy... at least with oil theres some justification for the raise in prices with the wars and what not...
Market price of Enchants, at least on Hindemith, are outrageous... and there is no justification for it that i can figure out... I haven't had time to shop around since the event started, but doubt the event helped to bring them back down all that much...
We don't need the market saturated like some events have done in the past (including the original pumpkin event).. we just need something to even it out or stablize it a little, or give the people that can't afford the current prices a little hope..
I think this and the last mob event did a fairly descent job of that, although both were a bit too limited... However.. as with any event that is "drops based"... the farmers still end up making out the best...

Not true.
Some of the castles (such as Innadril) are very dependent on income from sales of enchant scrolls.
If the scrolls can't be sold for more than X adena, the castle lords stop buying back the fruits that produce those enchants. As a result, raw materials that would be paid to people farming the manor never enter the market, the supply of raw materials is reduced, and their price increases.
So basically, dumping enchant scrolls into the market indirectly results in higher prices for raw materials.
Yes, because when we had the explosive prices in mats, there was lots of events flooding the market...oh wait, there weren't any.
If a castlelord doesn't even understand the concept of using the market and just immediatly goes "OMG, ENCHANT SCROLLS ARE ONLY 3 TIMES THE PRICE NOW THEY USE TO BE, WE'RE DOOMED!!!", then they can fork over the castle to someone who understand it.
So basically, dumping enchant scrolls into the market indirectly results in higher prices for raw materials.
Funny that during last years events that literally FLOODED the market with so many enchant scrolls I had to make mules just to carry them, there was no real significant increases in raw material prices.
Yet now, where there hasn't been such an event in a long long time, the material prices are through the roof.
And btw, a single syncronized group, can in many cases produce as many of one base mat as a manor system of a single town can.
I must say, The prices of Bones and Varnish increased dramatically without the help of this event. They seem to have dipped down a little more durring the event. Explain that. I'm convinced that if the Castle Lord feels that they don't want to supply the people with a manor, somebody else will. The material prices however have increase independently of the influx of enchants.
Edit: And I must also Add that I farm my own materials. They cost me nothing. I can gather more Bones with my scav than I can using the manor. Why? Because I don't have to fight to turn in crops. The manor only benefits so many. It is impossible for everyone to benefit from it all at once.

More items = less value. Enchants are a totally unnecessary jff part of the game. There should not be wide spread +16 weapons running around servers. Castle lords make margins on seeds, and currently they make out and like it that way. The past event was much tougher on castle lords as the economy was not so heavily adena rich as it is now (pumpkins were almost a year ago guys). The manor margin is definately better than it used to be, but the complaints last round were legit. To break even last round, a castle lord had to lower prices on seeds. Those crops were so low on return, that people using the manor stopped an the economy shifted. Now, enchant prices have become heavily inflated on all scales.
The enchants would have to fall a long long way to hurt current manors, so please don't take this wrong. Last event, however, they did fall to the point that many seeds were no longer worth operating.

Well said. The price of mats went through the roof about 2 - 3 months ago on the server I play, not only bones and varnish but Ori Ore etc. There were no events giving enchants at that time.
Add to that the fact that enchant scrolls have doubled or tripled in price since the last event that gave them as a reward and I would say that any well run manor could survive the enchants that will arrive on the market through this event or even a rerun of the higher rewards of the pumpkin event.
You do know that as a castlelord, your enchant scrolls don't evaporate, it is perfectly possible to either use them to make overenchanted gear (for very nice profit) or hoard them for when prices come back up (which they usually do pretty soon after, since people get a taste for overenchanting)

Back then, that meant hoarding 5-15 M in items per day. In a week or two, that's a lot of money for a castle lord to be holding onto. Our lord, distributed that money around the ally we were in. That meant 25 M had to be in vault for next cylce (to keep all buys at max), 25 M had to be in vault for weekend defense, and the remaining profits were diluted across 200 alliance members.
10 M per day / 200 people? 50k/day/person
Now you hold the castle for a month and thats 1.5 M per member (actually less due to expensive, slow days, etc, but let's pretend). 1.5 M for a member who is trying to build up his way into A and B grade which has costs well above 40 M for most weapons, let alone armor sets.
You guys see numbers that are big and fail to realize that is an entire organization's profit. Castles DO make money, but manors are a lot of work (lots of selling and every night resetup the system back then). Now, a modern castle owner rakes in a lot more, but again, making 50 M a day when all your members are 61+ and looking at A/S grade? Now take 50 M per day and equip your 200 members in armor that's 150 M per helmet, weapons that are 70 M +, and that's for the crappy A grade stuff....S grade? Forget it.
I just think if we're gonna fix items, don't fix the ones that are already so locked into such essential pvp elements etc. Castles should be rewarding. How about we bring down the price on 11/12 crystals and (at least on Hindemith) take back the market for these items from farmer control.

if the members of the clan/ally that owns a castle actualy earned some money themself, like the rest of the ppl on the server has to do, those "feew" millions ever month would help a lot. I dont get any free millions. if you think they are worthless, I will take em no problem.
