I tend to use my 2h sword primarily when I solo. Most folks will tell you to use a polearm.
Problem I have with that is finding hunting grounds at my level where I can consistantly pull multiple mobs. Im usually 1v1 on mobs, so I use my claymore since it does more damage. I used to carry both a pole and a claymore, but in fear that I may drop one or the other, I usually bank the claymore.
Carry a cheap blunt. Level of the weapon does not effect the stun landing rate. Set up a macro to switch to blunt and stun, then switch back to main weapon. I use a polearm in the cats and necros and a 2 hander outdoors.
I think the only time you'll be using stun is in PvP. not to say neglect it, but when you start to get your top grade gear you'll see what I mean. you'll start to cut through multiple mobs and wont really have a reason to stun. you have plenty of HP so getting beat on isnt much of an issue. if more then one mob is on you, pull out the glaive. between your rage and your stance, along with your other melee specials you wont have much mp left for much more. try to save it up for "relax"
this is only my suggestion though. other folks may play differently. I will say if you plan on using a blunt weapon, dont go overboard in purchasing. Use it for the stun ability and swap to your 2h. its crit is aweful, no matter what you use
Best way is to Pole or use 2 handed sword/blunt?
Plz - would appreciate your opinion ^^
ORCTASTIC!!!
If your going commando - 2H Sword and field mobs.
If you got money to burn, pole or 2H in the cats is fine solo!
If you can get a buffer/healer (VR!) all the time - Polearm and group mobs. (Or just any AOE anywhere really.)
For pvp the 2H is better so if your limited in how many weapons you can afford just stick with the 2H Sword.
Blunts suck. - 2H skills give extra accuracy and you get a Accuracy toggle so you don't need that. Stun lands to seldom and breaks to often. (Almost always a waste of MP.) Damage in L2 is all about the crits.
If you intend to hit much higher level players then you, use the blunt. Their accuracy bonus is handy there. For that reason, my Orc uses a blunt and is happy with it. Although it keeps me from using viscious stance that I am dying to try.
But the moment our little blacksmith friend returns, I will upgrade fast to the claymore because that is the way to go.
And erm, stun hardly ever works on mobs that are not dark blue. Stuns are handy though on those pesky mages so you can hit them a bit longer before they nuke you back to the village.
nono, if you run into a higher level player turn on the accuracy toggle, not the viscious stance toggle. you will still hit, chances are you wont crit so much anyways, VS will just waste mana that you could have used switching weapons and cycling between skills. only if you happen to be HUNTING higher level players, like woodsman is doing O.o would a blunt be a good thing.

Well me and a boatload of other Orcs all crying ZZZEEERRRGGGG and waving various blunt and sharp implements.
But as most of my combats involve mobs instead of higher level players I will grade up to a twohanded sword. Because it gives me the benefit of two skillsets that enchance my patk and that is very nice indeed.
