PWP Farming

Well, I finally did it. In a fit of frustration and rage I went in search of PWP groups with my BH. It was quite educational.

I realized I'm an uber-n00b when it comes to using Fake Death to drop trains. I pulled aggro mobs and used FD to attempt to drop the train. For some reason the aggro mobs continued to pound on me after FD which subsequently pulled me out of FD... Aggro never transferred. The mobs I pulled were aggro and I never hit them. What did I do wrong?

Since FD wasn't working so well I went the PK route and PKed the healer(s) for the groups and watched the rest of the group slowly die. While this was somewhat rewarding I was disappointed to find that PWP groups don't drop items as often as I would have thought. Sadly, the only good drop occurred while one of the group members was still up and they managed to pick up before me :(

In the end I picked up several thousand karma, was red for a little while and I got an Earring of Widsom! I'm rich!

So, you may ask, "How do you know they were PWP?". Well, first they completely ignored me during this whole process and always stopped whatever they were doing to rez the healer as soon as I PKed. This was done repeatedly. Then, the group also moved in perfect unison, changing direction at the exact same time, etc. So I was convinced.

For those of you that have had similar experiences please enlighten me. How can I make this more enjoyable (and profitable)? Why didn't FD work?
It can fail.. a lot . It use to work all the time, I remember being run over by dwarf trains repeatedly in Cruma 2 back in the day. I've had better luck if I run far enough ahead of the mobs (ww2, zerk) and then do it.
Ahh... Thank you. It's a good thing I was about 50 levels higher than the mobs in question LOL. I will perfect my method before I try it in Apostate.
ud and guts can be about as effective as fd, even at higher levels, if the PLAYERS are attacking a mob social to the train. never used or care much about fd since i can train effectively woth a pre-40s dwarf in most areas. always use haste pots when training. i would say part of the trick might be to use social mobs, get a bit of distance between you and them, and use fd just as the group get to the PLAYERS, as they are attacking a mob social to the train
Agro mobs become nonagro if pulled to far from thier home territory. What you really want are social mobs, as social mobs always assist, no matter how far you have dragged them.

FD may have worked. But, if a mob is 'swinging' at you as you FD, it will complete that swing. If the mob is chasing you, it will arrive and then complete the swing. Any damage will make you stand up, even if FD worked. If any mob hits you TWICE, then FD didn't work.

Note: this effect can get you killed even if FD works, if the last 'swings' take all your remaining HP.

As stated, you do not need FD to transfer aggro. Get a group of socials trailing you, and circle around the bots. As the bots hit their mobs, the social mobs in your train will transfer aggro to them.
