Elven buffer no good buffer?

I'm wanting to build an elven oracle to support my elven ranger however looking at their skills at the official website, looks like they are better healers than buffers. Is it because I don't know how to play elven oracles that's why i don't see the benefits or ncsoft just made them weak. someone educate me please tyvm.
They are defensive buffers, that's all. Most people don't want defense.
You want a Prophet. Her level 35 Battle Heal will be sufficient well into your higher levels as long as you don't get hit by mobs too much.

EE only helps you by (1) lowering weight and (2) giving you higher evasion.

SE isn't necessary cause VR is useless to you.

Lol somehow you forgot PR2 and +++++++% rez .. EE are very useful in party, not the best as buffpet tho.
PR is only useful if you are dumb and keep going into areas that own your butt on a regular basis... or plan on ganking all the time...

Anyway prophets are best, then SE, then EE.

It depends on the situations actually.
If he plans to go PW a SE may be more helpful than a PP as buffpet, if he plans to go SR PP is the best.
PR2 is still very useful on party, and having a good heal, very good rez and buffs on one class is not bad at all.
Recharge...Prophets do not have recharge.

I like my EE and think people vastly underestimate them. Clarity is coming in C5 and they will be more useful for casters at that time. I do not yet know if mana cost on skills is reduced with Clarity or just spells...

Anyway prophets are best, then SE, then EE.

Pfft.

SE > WC > Prophet > EE

SE > WC > Prophet > EE

If you don't mind the late upgrades to buffs - but WC is very good for archers because they get all the essential buffs + evasion. The heal however isn't that great, because it's over time, and you need it to be partied. On the other hand, you're probably gonna want it partied till at least 68 for focus 3. Though focus 2 is sufficient. But who doesn't want the best :p
IMO if your going to be an archer 40+ youd be better off with a prophet, and Im not just saying this cause I play one.
Prophets have all essential fighter buffs, and if your a archer, you will want zerk. They also have nice skills like HASTE, holy weapon (good if you hunt undead), regeneration (dont underestimate this skill), Bless the Body, Bless the Soul.... just to name a few. The heals they do have from their time as a cleric are more than enough to heal an archer (who shouldnt be getting hit in the first place).

From my experience in a duo with an archer, they mostly keep telling me how godlike they are with my buffs. Prophets also have root. Its either the prophet spends their mana on root or healing. Ive seen people do both , but from my experience, the mob is dead by the time he gets close enough.

EE bad choice for a 2box for archer
EE underestimated class for grouping and pvp
Prophet = Best for archer buffpet
SE's don't have haste, bless the body, bless the soul, or zerk. I wouldn't think recharge would be better than that.
SE have Empower, and if the archer is a PR then Hex is better than Zerk, and recharges are godly, it frees the archer up to get a SA which is not CS. :p
In an area with undead, zerk and holy weapon together will add more damage than Hex could, without sacrificing range (you have to run up to the mid range for hex after all).

Zerk also increases kitability, very important for archers.
As a fellow archer.

I prefer the duo fo SE and PP. how ever thats just cause I have a high lvl SE.

but come C5 I'd much prefer a EE and a PP.

With the changes to ZERK in C5: - evation, can only be cast on party members, slight increase in P/M ATk.

The EE would be nice to have cause of agility, recharge and high % rez, clearity is going to very nice, and so is resist stun. cause of the neirf to sleep, EE cast speed will very nice for use with sleeping mobs that over run you in the fields or cata's.

EE is more suited for use as a third toon with a Archer then the SE is. and PP is the best suited..

With a BoP that has CS on it you can lvl very nicely one shoting mobs. as long as you got all of the archer buffs that PP get not EE, tho SE get most of what the PP does.

EE don't get things like focus, DW, guid, haste, zerk, BtB, BtS.

SE's don't have haste, bless the body, bless the soul, or zerk. I wouldn't think recharge would be better than that.

Questions.....

Aren't there Haste or fast attack potions and a weapon SA for Body Bless in game? Can an SE use a weapon with the body bless SA on other players to give them more HP? Is that efficient, when the SE can just heal them anyway, no matter how much damage they take? And aren't archers ranged attackers who rarely take damage anyway?

Bless the Soul adds to maximum mana (???), but without mana potions or an on the spot recharger to boost mana to that maximum amount, is this any good? Or should an archer get this buff and then rest to gain the maximum mana before hunting??

And what the heck is Zerk? Any SA for that, or only prophets give this spell?

Sorry for questions, but just learning the ropes here....
My SE uses a BtB weapon.
no one high level wants anything less than a brez so the rez is pretty useless and ee is only semi useful for tanks in certain situations. Otherwise offense offense offense offense for just about any class. Max damage and heals, thats all you need.
Serenade of Eva has been a wonderful thing for me lately. My dorf is seeding with a wolf and if I pull too much aggro I Serenade and they all walk back into the roon. If 2 or three stay aggro I just back up from the others that are cruising back into the room and fight the three that are left.

Also Stun resist and the 2 shield buffs are nice.

It is better for your SE/EE to have acumen SA weapon then BtB SA wepon(SoES). I don't see the point in geting a SoES when I'd could have (tears of wizard, new C5 B grade weapon with acumen) a SoV, or a SoM with acumen.

sure you can uses those, but not really worth it, cept for olympaid.

Yes BTS adds to mana, even tho in C5 HE gets BTM & so does PR. and HE (PR & SR to) has soul of sagittarios which is boost in MP for a cost in HP.

Yes haste you can get in a pot, but why through away your money on buying GSA pots?

A PP is most valueable cause of the buffs they get that boost your atk speed, and your P atk tho the roof.

One could almost say, with the way classes are set up at the moment, EE is not meant to be played at all. :p

A buff you will want to have....
Bezerker's Spirit is the full name, people just call it zerk
Bishops have lvl 1, prophets get lvl 2,
Edit: OL's get it but its called differently, but still refered too as "zerk"

From Library:
-Temporarily reduces P. Def., M. Def.
- Increases P. Atk., M. Atk., Atk. Spd., Casting Spd., and Speed.
The reduced P.def/M.def is a joke... conssidering the prophet can give you other buffs that raise P.def and M.def that stack with Zerk. Being an Archer , you will want the increase in P. Atk., M. Atk., Atk. Spd., Casting Spd., and Speed.

I stand corrected , Thanks Tokara :)

just to add, that in C5 it can only be casted on party members. adds - evation. and has a increase in P atk and M atk.
Note that zerk also increases attack speed and cast speed.

All stats are boosted by 8% efficiency at level 2, 4% at level 1. By efficiency, I mean that MAtk is boosted a bit higher since MAtk increases have less of an impact.

EEs aren't meant to be played as buffpets.

Not if we define "to play" as "to engage in activity for amusement". With the way classes are set up at the moment, EE is the class that could have some uses in any in-game situation where some amusement can be reasonably expected. Well, maybe except Olympiads.

Sure, EE may have no place in some hardcore safe-grinding 4-person groups where any hint of amusement is considered a distraction from their grinding goals :p

Sure, EE is a class that is hard to play, almost impossible without good social skills. Still, EE is probably the most interesting class to play in L2, if your interest in the game is not limited to increasing your PvP count.
Well, if you're talking PvP, EE is quite an asset from what I hear anyway - and they're getting some nice PvE boosts in C5. =)

what I was talking about mel is the changes being made to it in C5, while your talking about the skill in general.
Wait, the increase to PAtk and MAtk is getting boosted? I didn't know that... '__'; Sorry.
apperently from what I saw in the blah Xlations yeah it is, cause they are adding the - evation to it.

EE has no place in any XP group at all. They add nothing to the group. High XP res? Who cares, you aint gonna be dying much anyway. PR? Whats the point? I dont plan on leaving my XP area. :p Resist shock and the one or two other buffs dont make up for a complete lack of any XP increasing buffs, or if you replaced a DD for the EE, they seriously dont make up for an archer/dagger/glad or whatever.
If we define "to play" as "When playing a party support class, you can join a party" EEs are still not meant to be played. I played one up until level 50 (at which point I simply got fed up and did something else), but since level 35 got approximatley zero random groups. I could of course party with friends, but my friend will party me even if I choose to play a level 1 Elpy, so thats not really saying much.
An OL doesn't really add to an EXP group either - just like an EE, definitely a class you take along in preparation for PvP.

And of course, in high levels, the EE can provide a group with infinite MP - not exactly something to scoff at. ;)

they may have use in a nuker group but anyone would rather take a few SE's with emp and recharge. If recharage was an EE only skill that would be a different story.
I love to have an OL in my group to help out with the buffing and crowd control - same for EE + they add some buffs that I don't have. Both classes are too underrated in pve. -And you don't always know when there's going to be pvp, so it's not a bad idea to bring them along in a pve group (+they need xp like the rest of us :))
a healer is a healer to me, As a WC I don't care about buffs besides ww and all healers have that. as long as I have someone who can keep the group alive im happy

You really only need one SE for emp/WM. If you need more rechargers, I'd try to get an EE. OLs are great in (clan/ally)nuker groups for acumen and zerk, and HoP to heal up from the HP lost with body to mind.
I just made an EO last night. From the looks of this thread I have quite a challenge ahead of me.
EE are very nice, and highly underated. We have one in our clan, and **** it is nice. Essepcially that resist stun for you Dark Elves.

But anyway their heals are great, and their buffs are awesome for defense! Evasion, advance block, ect. These kind of buffs are the ones that will make ur clan win pvp bro. The Recharge is a lot higher, but I dunno if you will really need that.

On the other hand the SE will give you VR which will help u a little or a lot (depending on what u are doing). Gives you Empower which makes ur skills like lighting strike land a lot more.

But like I said. With a EE with you all the time, you will most likely never die. PR2 ftw...no worry about greifers, trainers, training yourself...lol, ect. Plus I high % rez too! Good underated class imo. Won't really help u kill faster to lvl up, but it will surely help u from dying, and it will definately help u win pvp being a melee class.
cool sounds good. I think im going to jump in alot of raid parties and level up to 40 asap. Im enjoying it so far. I have never been much of a social player and this makes me party more. Seems fun so far!
Um this is why if a party is out with a EE we own the EE first so they can't PR. It's not like it's a surprise skill, we all know they can PR and it surely can be interupted.
How do you interupt an instant skill? :p
It's not completely instant. If for instance an archer started to shoot before the EE pressed PR, it can be interrupted. It just takes an extreme amount of good luck/timing.
If a BSOE can be interupted, so can PR. And how? Well the entire party targeting the EE helps :)
I would agree that using an EE for a buff bot wouldn't be my very first, second, or third choice.

In group play however, one huge strength that was not
mentioned in this thread is the EE's ability to perform crowd
control. Do not forget that EE's will get high sleep skills
which has gotten several of my parties out of a tight jam.
At level 50 with a crystal staff; I've managed to sleep mid
level 60 mobs on a regular basis. Couple that with Party
Return....it makes for a safe exit out.

Someone mentioned earlier and am inclined to agree, EEs make very good party healers. Attach a WIT tattoo and their greater heal becomes a greater battle heal.

Anothe strong point is their ability to regen mp. I've also played an SE exclusively and have noticed that their mp regen is relatively slow as compared to an EE.

one huge strength that was not
mentioned in this thread is the EE's ability to perform crowd
control

I mentioned that :( I need to stop being so ninja on forums, that people don't notice me, and be more ninja in game.
Yes but bishops get high levels of sleep too, plus several heals that a EE doesn't get. Poor gimp EEs.
I have to agree wiht most of what you said.

how ever the roll of EE as a sleeper mite not be as apperent come C5. I like to think that a EE is stronger suited to be a sleeper then a nuker or SE/PP buff bot.

I think not only cause EE get higher sleep skills, but cause of the EE's LE base wit then the +4 wit that they get, couple with it a SoV that has acumen and your going to have a sleep that not 10's but more like 3-4 sec's. if that.

I have to agree that EE is the most underrated healer, and they would get played alot more if they had a Greatter group battle heal or greatter group heal. or just any type of group heal would make them alot more desired.

The other main issue is the lack of buffs, how ever in C5 EE gets clearity: which honestly rocks. ( decrease in mp comsumtion, how can that be bad specailly for nukers or healers, even tho it uses spirit ore), resist stun, resist poison(ehh w/e), advanced block, aglity.
The deal breaker to this whole thread is the fact that out of all the buffer class, (assuming a female toon) the elven elder has the best "dance" emote........ there by making elven elders the best healer class to play.

How can you beat the "da-dee-da-da"? :p

EE has no place in any XP group at all. They add nothing to the group.

First of all, as an EE, you don't need to grind to lvl 77 or so to start getting fun from the game. You aren't going to get into "ideal XP grinding parties", but, frankly, you don't need them. Every group that is "!LF healer, any **** healer" is good for you, and there is much more fun to play in these groups, too.

Second, there are cases where adding an EE to a group can considerably raise the sustained DPS for a group if the group is not afraid to have some extra fun picking harder goals, being the only healer class that has both Sleep and Wind Shackle helps there... but EEs are just too rare to base the grinding habits of other classes on their presence.

If we define "to play" as "When playing a party support class, you can join a party" EEs are still not meant to be played. I played one up until level 50 (at which point I simply got fed up and did something else), but since level 35 got approximatley zero random groups.

No such problems here. But as I already said, not everyone can play EE.
Pff, who gives a toss about Wind Shackle, that is mana spent stopping ME taking damage, when it could be used by another class to make HIM take more! :p
As soon as you start considering the time you spend moving between mobs, luring mobs or waiting for their respawn, you will find Sleep and Wind Shackle nice DPS-increasing tools.

They are not buffs, though, they need an experienced and alerted player to be useful.

It's not completely instant. If for instance an archer started to shoot before the EE pressed PR, it can be interrupted. It just takes an extreme amount of good luck/timing.

It happened to me one time, and then I was in heavy armor for some reason ;)

Actually, when I was playing EE, I had a number of shout conversations that went along the lines of:

Me: EE LFG
RndomDude: Group looking for healer.
Me: Pick me! Pick me!
RndomDude: Group looking for healer!11!
Well, they were just dumb.
Lesson #1:
Don't use shout when you can use whisper.
If you did a dance while shouting; they surely would have picked you up.
Most EXP groups don't want to play with focus though - of a course a group where all members are focused to their task will make more experience (the kind of group in which an EE will be useful to their fullest potential), but most people would rather watch the telly or read a book while grinding.
