Orc Mystic set up? - future OL

Player Questions Started Last reply 6 posts
I am lvl 15 Orc Mystic. Should I be in Robes, Light Armor, or Heavey Armor? Mage weapon or Mele? This class is really confusing, yet seems fun to play. I plan on going OL. Also what skills should I avoid and which should I upgrade first?

Currently I cast Chill Flame and then walk away, stop, turn around and hit for one final death blow.

I have been seeding so I should be able to sell mats for decent cash, and seed more for any set up I plan on getting. Ty for all and any help.
there one of these thread ever week, seriously just go read another thread, i think there one on page 2 called wc
.
Based on how i helped my friend, you want heavy at least through dgrade, probably through C also. For the rest of NG bronze and a budzygan is fine as long as you have gotten heavy armor mastery. Starting at dgrade you want brig and a bonebreaker or SoL+++. No idea anything past there, but theres my early level advice :)
Im going to suggest the same thing. Heavy armor until C. not sure about after 40 because Ive yet to have made it there with my shaman

reason being, your casting is slow.. your running is slow. you'll never be able to kite mobs effectively. You can use your spells for pulling occassionally.

My tactics are, using a blunt weapon like a bonebreaker or a tarbar, melee almost exclusively. when your health drops, use life leech to regain your health. I often use stun if im aggroed by more then a single mob. Depending on the con of the mob, I may use a dot offensive spell to pull. I tend to stick with poison because it seems fewer mobs resist it and the mp useage is less.

some may argue using a blunt weapon and ive seen a lot of orc shaman use duals. it makes somewhat sense, more damage, cheaper then top grade blunt weapons. The class really is that open. I personally use a 2h blunt Atuba Hammer which has great patk and higher matk then a staff of life.

For L1 to L40 I solely used Heavy armor. I have seen a few use robes and do the sleep/Chill Flame & Poison thing but sitting for MP was to frequent for me.

L1-L20 it was Bronze + Viper Fangs. I mixed Chill Flame with the Drains as needed with melee to finish em off. I tried robes and Light also, but heavy seemed best. I was able to use Bsps for all my spells.

L20-L40 Brig Armor (Set) I tried both a Bonebreaker and 107 Duals. I really preferred the duals. I also started to use my wolf as a hunting partner when I neared my 30's. (Used to be my Destroyers companion until the aggro rule changes killed that. C3 IIRC.) I didn't use Bsps or SS spam in D grade. I carried enough for those OS! occasions or just when I needed the extra heal power.

L40-L52 Full Plate Armor (set) I also eventually aquired a Set of Demon robes (**** the gloves were a pain) for raid/siege use. I Started with a Flamberge (Focus) and later managed to craft a Spirit Sword, which I Mammoned into a Cursed Staff, then a Soufire Dirk and eventually upgrade that to a Sword of Whispering Death (Empower) which lasted a fair time until I changed it to a Mace of the Underworld (Mana Up).

This was a convoluted period so a bit of explanation. Again no Shot spam and using the wolf full time. (Did a fair amount of seeding from time to time also.)

Early 40's w/Flamberge. The Focus SA really makes a difference. I used this up to the late 40's. 46/48ish IIRC.

Late 40's Spirit Sword/Cursed Staff/Soulfire Dirk. (No SA)
I had the blades for the SpSword, but once I managed to get that crafted I immediately had it Mammoned. I didn't use it that way though much at all. I swapped it to the Cursed Staff for a bit then the Soulfire Dirk. Neither worked terribly well. The staff was too slow and did too little damage and the Dirk missed far too much. I pretty much continued to use the Flamberge solo and the staff/dagger in parties until I got the AA to upgrade. Once I got the SoWD I stopped using the Flamberge. I added empower a bit later but the improvement was just a minor boost. I used the SoWD up to B grade and just a bit over. At which point the lack of MP and regen really started to hurt in Siege or after buffs. At that point I swapped the SoWD for the MotU and squeezed a (Mana Up) SA onto it. The SA was much needed and the blunt worked OK, although I felt the loss in Crits a bit. (Not terribly so though compared to the Flamberge though.)

L52+ (I forget when exactly) I managed to craft a Hellknife. Since then I have been using this almost exclusively. The attack speed + crit rate is very nice. (SA selection is suckage though.) by this time I had enough MP to go around (For party use) although I still keep the Demon Robes around. I usually rest in the Robes, buff and then swap to Avadon Heavy and grind with that (and the wolf!) until the buffs run out. Then rest and repeat. I went Avadon Heavy almost Solely for the +Shield Block boost to make the most of my Shield buff. If I ever go to a 2H weapon my Armor will likely change. (Thinking of trying Light Armor for A grade....maybe.)

For Late 50's two key buffs came into play that influenced my playstyle. Bezerk l2 and Accuracy l3. The attack speed increase of Zerk and some much needed Acc allowed me to use the dagger. Since I don't spam Pots or Shots (outside of AOE) those two influence my weapon selection alot. Also, note: I do NOT use Soul Guard or Soul Cry. Both use far to much MP and as such I NEVER use them in normal play. (SG only for [censored]! times.)

My initial plans were to Go Blood Orchid + Focus (When available) for A grade or a Sword + Focus. Alternately either of those and a Guidance SA would be my second choice.

As you can see I'm not a Gank lover so pvp outside of Sieges is not my Forte. Thus a Speed casting setup is not in my future setups. I go solely for Soloability or usefulness in Party when choosing my weapons.

As of my initial response to C5 on the PTS...my best choice for A grade seems to be.....find a new game to play. :(
