Go for a Scavy or Artisan? Please advise.

evenin' all. well my main is a 45 SK, decided to make a dwarf as things are getting hectic in the adena department. anyhow, currently i'm a LvL17 Dwarf Fighter, and very confused which way to go. I did read a few other forums about the differences and what not but still cant decide. If any of the experienced members can give me some advice that'd be great.

Just to give you my ideas, so far I've really enjoyed leveling my dwarf, I dont know, but I like playing with my toon. Now I just dont want to sit and craft and sell, I also want to level him along the way. It seems that scavies are more opportunistic to get into parties when compared to artisans.

lastly can a scavenger craft just as well as an artisan? or can a scavenger craft at all, or is he just solely used to getting mats? or should I make another alt just for getting mats, and this one for crafting?

any advise that'll help me decide what to go for will be greatly appreciated.
I think Scavenger/BH would be the way to go. I played a WarSmith to level 62. Artisans/WS's dont make real money untill they can craft B grade weapons and C grade armor. You may come close to that kind of money earlier if you go hard at the Soul/Spirit shot market. As an alt, a scavy would probly be best. Earning is kind of easy, it happens as you hunt.

Scavies/BH's can craft level 1 crafts. If you do this, only craft materials, course bone powder, braided hemp, cokes, etc. Note that those recipes are expensive, 100k or so on Gustin. If you want to farm them look up what monsters drop/spoil them. You'll have to delevel a few times. The weapons, armor, etc. at that level will lose you money and waste your time.

It would also be a good idea to get a pet wolf as a companion. They help with the damage and limit your experience gain. The pet adds a fun new dimension to the game. See Kiranya's Wolf Guide (http://lineage2.stratics.com/content/faq/wolf.php) on Stratics. Her site is gone now. (OH, limiting your expierience gain is good because you can spoil in one spot longer.) Another good point for a pet is it lets you solo better so you dont have to share spoils.

Also, learn and use the manor system. Spoil + fruit = $$

What he said :)

Fox
TY very much Gargantuan (and everyone else). Appreciate the info, and I guess I'll start my way into a scavy. Not really looking forward to the whole deleveling process, but I guess it'll be needed in order to get the low-level recipes. One last question, does this mean that scavies/BHs can only craft upto level 1 and nothing after that?
yup
but that should be a good start for all your crafting needs

Yes, that is what it means.

aww man. oh well i guess you cant have everything. hmmm this is interesting, i want to go scavy/bh but my other half tells me to go artisan/ws. i do want to help out my clan as much as possible, i think artisan might be a good thing for moi and the clan-mates.

thx again for the info.
My solution for this problem is to have both! ;)
Jute is right as usual..both is the answer!
If you do them back to back be warned--those class change quests seriously suck!
I finished WS quest and two days later did scavi quest and still can't stand the thought of leveling the scavi to face a BH quest!
There are some advantages to both--arti can craft shots for your other toons at an advantage (if you're addicted to soulshot like I am) and scavi can farm some pretty nice mats these days for some extra money (but not millions and millions).
GL...and do what Jute says.

yes, that thought actually did come into my mind. i was not really sure if i want to do that but seeing that the idea of having a BH and a WS is pretty common, i think i can live with that.

thx.

that was the reason i started my crafter
its gonna be at least 49 lvls before you get to craft anything that is uselfull to anyone to be honest
i seriously advise rolling the scav for some extra adena then retireing it forever
If you are going for both, you can use the second one to farm for the lvl 1 materials recipes for both. But be warned that you will be ready to PK the NPC Master Toma when you finally get to the scavenger quest.
yes after doing some further research, i think it'll be a good idea to make a scavenger first, save up on the mats/recipes and then start the artisan. i just like those little dudes' animation, running around and wacking mobs four times their size =) But thx again, i'll go scavy now (not really looking forward to doing that class change request). I hear Toma is a ****** to get a hold of! Also who is a better for using a pole, or they both the same as they both pretty much get the same skills?
same skills
at lvl 28 crafters get a summon
but if you are after adena you cant use it
Then again you could do what we did. I made a scavy and my boyfriend made his arti. We make a good team. :) I spoil for him, he crafts for me.

that's what i'm hoping to do in the future, get two dorfs going. too bad the wifey cant get into playing this with me. oh well, i'll be doing both soon.
