My buddy wants to play Lineage II as well.
Now it is nearly impossible to buy lineage 2 game from a shop het in The Netherlands. They do sell City of Heroes and City of Villians. I was told these keys will work for lineage as well. Can someone confirm this?
I don't think its a "game key" that works for both games.
I think its the "game-time-key" that you can use for both games to pay for 2 months at the time.
So basicly I think you need a new game-key and then create a "My account", then choose "add game", enter the game-key (which you dont have right now :( ) and then add the game-time-card-key.

So far as i know you cant use a serial key from CoH to lineage2.

No those codes are for the monthly subscription, game-play-time as said earlier, not the code for registering a new account.
To buy the game itself check http://eu.lineage2.com/ out, click on enter and it gives you 2 methods of getting the game, 1 is to buy the retail box off 8 or so of their partners (amazon, gameplay, etc), or buy a cd key directly from PlayNC. The latter option doesnt give you a game box, but you get the key instantly
I suspect the latter option is more expensive as well (despite not giving you a box)
You could also buy an used account i guess, look for the cheapest one you can find and just delete whatever characters on it when you get it
Its not legal though, and the owner can reclaim the account i think (?)
Thx for the reply. I figured that much it only works for time cards not game keys. The problem is he have not an credit card, so its a bit a problem to purchase online without it.
An used account is not an option. Oh well I guess I have to use my cc to order him the game. Timecards are not a problem. They are plenty available.
