a server goes offline even for a second. I pay so I can
log in any moment of the 166/168 hours of the week.
Besides I don't think hiding the fact that a smarter security
specialist PKs PTS on site is doing any good. I suggest you hire him

so bro you saying when you are like 78 and you where figthing something you get D/C it dont means you instantly log out so if the critter kills you and you drop like i say a S helmet and you loss 5% they not even give it back????
Obviously this maintenance is something extremely serious and not just some small html misspelling because the servers all went down at the same time and NCsoft doesnt exactly bring down the servers at anytime of the day to fix some small problem that nobody really cares about. Put it together servers all go down same time and this post is made at the last second something unplanned has happened and was obviously serious enough to bring all servers down and fix it before worse things happen.

Lionna had a consumable problem (fighting mobs with no SS and no pots while solo brings a new meaning to a rush :P), then a few seconds later it went down. The other servers very slowly started following suit. Then while everyone from all the other servers was having fun PKing each other on TEON with lvl 3 and 4 toons they took em all down :)
Considering that the servers were brought down on purpose/kept down because there's a problem, I'd say the chances of getting lost stuff back, are greater than normal.
technically, yes the servers did go down together. prior to that 1-3 servers were brought down. then upon finding whatever they were looking for, they brought all of the servers down.

Yea only within 20 seconds of each other down the line according to glop org website which I hope isn't considered bad or unmentionable, it just displays server status.
And as for the rest of it, knowing theres no point petitioning, bots this n' that, year(s) of time and effort invested, yadda yadda.. hey I'm in that boat too..

Sionara and I sure hope they have it back up before late tonight/tomorrow because any L2 vet knows the timeframe it takes when something this monumental happens.

Yup I think all servers had the consumable problem, I know i was at least with SS not working. (this was after the 2nd server crash). So I SOE'd to town and the server crashed again lol. I'll probably be dead when i log back in

So something happened and they needed to take the servers down, life goes on. Something as massive as Lineage 2 will inevitably have problems here and there. Let them do their jobs, complaining doesn't make it go faster. They are already working as fast as they can. After all, this is their business at stake.

I've heard two rumors. One they fixed the cats on PTS and when they were loaded all the power in the server building went out. The second thing I heard is that some of the classes getting nerfed just happened to be professional hackers. They erased all player information off of the servers as well as all backup arrays and disaster recovery sites. <3

doesn't change the fact that there's no need for additional l2na servers. the reason why l2kr has more servers is because there are many,many more people playing the game that can fill towns.

From the 2 years ive known about L2, thers been ONE Magazine Page (PC Gamer Mag in the UK) on it before it was released, and i found ONE copy of L2 Delux in GameStation (A huge Game/PC/DVD company, also in the UK). I agree with Sly as well, Lineage 2 has sorta been a word of mouth type game. EQ2,WoW, TheMatrixOnline (which I heard sucked royally), all had television advertising. Even City of Heroes/Villans had advertising. Lineage 1 had LordBritish (who was respectable at the time) help promote it. Lineage 2 had ...meh.

Well I guess its safe to say that the server's will be down for hour's, as normal maintance take's two hour's.
I have to ask if there will be a big roll back, because if you were lvling and got a nm helm drop just before the servers went down and the roll back was even ten min's its bye bye drop. :(

c). start rebuilding relationships with your family cus youll need them for the withdrawl
I'm another one that had made a really really good purchase about 20 minutes before this crash. I dont mind a few minute roll back, but if that item is gone I'm going to be rather testy. Last time this sort of thing happened the item was gone, as well as the adena spent on it. I dont mind emergancy down time, but logging in later to see I've been screwed isn't my idea of a fun L2 day. :confused:

Not to be a ******* but i am pretty sure the are having very hard problems and they have very good reasons for turning the servers of... and Mistryl is working up the courage to tell ppl they will have a new event called a " Server Wipe "

If you dont get back in that no_NPC window, do not log in on that character. Log another one in and go have a look at where you will appear. If it is aggro-filled, either clear them out or wait until someone clears them for you.
You could petition, giving them the name of your toon, and why it should be moved clear of the aggros, but this sometimes results in your toon being moved INTO another aggro spawn. I recommend the do-it-yourself approach.

"This is an emergency shut down" by the sound of it doesnt sound good at all, maybe the hackers got in the mainframe of ncsoft and messed everything up or maybe this is the end of L2, chaos will fall on us when this website won't even be accesible due to ncsoft running away from the angry people that payed for this game and spent years playing it, as of right now is been about couple of hours and we have no news, if any staff is reading this make a post letting us know whats going on.

I'm on your side though not theirs ^^ I feel ur thoughts and opinions. Almost all complaints and issues since the beginning of this game are surfacing in an ugly way today, just from the frustration and the downtime. And we're lucky we even got that post. Mistryl has no information right now, and she will post when she knows what's going on. She doesn't have to post every 10 seconds to prove that they're getting something done.

Actually this happened to EVE online not too long ago. Some accounts were comprimized somehow, they pulled the server down and changed everyone's passwords. The passwords were then mailed to the account holders.

As always the letter of support is stating the obvious, only giving us information when it involves a resolution and is no longer useful to us; by which point we are more than likely aware that the problem has been solved and are already logging back into the game.
I could care less about the downtime, in my opinion it's a matter of principle. Give us something more tangible then “We are working on it, sit tight.” Of course you are working on the problem, anyone of any intelligence understands that; we know that when you have a server issue you work to resolve it, how would you keep your jobs if you just waved your hands in the air and left the building at every hint of distress. Instead of stating the obvious, as I have responded to many support issues in the past two years, tell the community the details of what is happening.
Often I wonder if the success of L2 hasn't been severely marred by this lack of communication, where it is often blamed on the gameplay or the nature of the in-game community. No offense Mys, I know you work hard, but L2 has quite possibly the worst support in the MMO market (and yes, I know firsthand because I subscribe to several of them), and its times like these that make that point grossly apparent.
Mabe even an event with higher rates for 12 hours?:D 24 hours XD ... Ok its not a priv serv i know but hehe id pull another 16 hour spree ^^....BTW i was on a 16 hour spree ncsoft i need lvl70 >< come'on ur talking to my boss to get me another day off :P 32 hours of lineage FTW!

I read those rumors that somone hacked into servers and made everyone lvl 1 again blah blah blah...thats obviously not going to be the case but still that doesnt seem like it would be such a bad thing...If NA had the members like our friends across the big lake it would be nice haveing a new server to start fresh...I liked this game a lot more back c1-c2 when it actually took some effort to accomplish things. Getting to lvl 40 actually took some effort but now I made a silver ranger for the hell of it and it took what a week and a half to get lvl 52?? Bring back the good ol' days at Cruma Tower!!

seriously just casue the server has gone down, it doesnt mean it has been hacked. This has happened many times on other games i have played was down for the night and all was ok lets just all sit down and watch this forum :)

Maybe they can't quite pinpoint what exactly the problem is, and they're just saying that to calm down everyone going "OMG RESPOND MISTRYL!!11one", and they will give a real responce once they've figured out the problem or the way to solve it, which they can then determine an ETA. If they havn't quite planned out a way to fix a complicated problem, how can they possibly give an ETA or info on it? "Umm yeah, there's a glitch somewhere and we don't quite know how to fix it". Yeah, that'd be just great for calming people down.
Looks like it was definitely a security issue, i was opening a l2 vid file which brought up the update screen and gameguard files and such were being updated

I had a weird thing happen to me just before Devianne crashed. I have 2 accounts so I logged on the first and got to a safe place and was logging onto the second one. When I got to the character selection screen...there were no characters. The tutorial voice came on and everything telling me how to start lineage 2. Lol all I hope is that it wasn't permanent.
The strange thing about this non-information we are getting, is that its exactly the same type of non-information I and everyone else was getting who played/plays Guildwars when something happens. "Sorry its broke, we are fixing it", and never actually saying whats wrong... I mean, a simple direction would probably satisfy everyone... like for example - "software issue on X server" - or "hardware issue on X server" - or "network connectivity issue" - or "human error problem" - even "unknown problem we are tracking down atm". Anything lol {>

I think what would make people happiest is if they were to install a couple of webcams in their offices, one watching the staff and the others watching the servers if they are in a seperate area.
That way we'd know people where working on it / spilling coffee into the servers.
That would stop the mystery if you could watch a live feed...

The same thing happened to me, I logged on Hinde couple of seconds before it crashed, and my wee little Esmera I have there was gone.
I thought that maybe I erased her so time ago since I never played her much, but if happenned to someone else....
Lol i bet the GM are sitting at a table playing monopoly while 1 checks the forms every few mins to see if we said anything bad "Just say were working on it that should stall them till tomorrow"-Gm#1 "Are you sure"GM#2 "Ya man we get a day off everytime we release a PTS we just say its a hacker but its rilly the fact we shut everything off and watch people conplain about there toons stuck in a diff place...sometimes we turn it into a drinking game"-GM#1
honestly i could care les if its a hacker or they just finaly figured out how to stop 1 of maby 100,000 bot programs but in most games only thing that bring a halt to the game this fast is a cash exploit.
at any rate it would be nice to get some real info on what the prob is im loosing lvling time here , how am i suposed to get a 70+ buffer if i cant even get in :/
The strange thing about this non-information we are getting, is that its exactly the same type of non-information I and everyone else was getting who played/plays Guildwars when something happens. "Sorry its broke, we are fixing it", and never actually saying whats wrong... I mean, a simple direction would probably satisfy everyone... like for example - "software issue on X server" - or "hardware issue on X server" - or "network connectivity issue" - or "human error problem" - even "unknown problem we are tracking down atm". Anything lol {>
They accidently wiped the servers... OMG.. It'll look like the first day of release..

I had a weird thing happen to me just before Devianne crashed. I have 2 accounts so I logged on the first and got to a safe place and was logging onto the second one. When I got to the character selection screen...there were no characters. The tutorial voice came on and everything telling me how to start lineage 2. Lol all I hope is that it wasn't permanent.

Haha I was wondering if it happened to someone else. I've been watching this thread and no one had mentioned it...so I thought it might have only been me having this problem >< Maybe its cause I tried to long in so close to when the server was going to crash/get put down.

They are bissy erasing posts. I know for a fact that someone truyed to pull of a name skam with Mystil's name telling that servers are wiped.. And I only check one board other then this one..
