When I first saw Lineage 2 screenshots I thought "oooo so beautiful!" I asked a few friends that play lot different online games and they told me I was crazy and would hate it. I heard over and over how I would meet nothing but *****es killing me right and left. And that females wouldnt like a game thats nothing but "griefers." I decided I would try anyway cause the elves and dwarves just tooo cute for thier own good....
I went ahead and made a dark elf yesterday (hey I like her hair, what can I say) and the night went strange but interesting. At first I was scared come out the lil building ya born in, so stayed in there for 6 levels killing the gremlins. Behind a pillar next to the giant stairs I found a sparkling pile of clothes, sword and shield. I thought it was laid out for new people so I picked it up and put it on. It was really nice compared what I had before cause I was really tearing them gremlins up. When finally met another player (who I wrongly thought was new to game like me) I told him watch there for the armour and weapons to show up again. I was informed that most likely someone had hid the stuff there to get with another character. I felt bad then for stealing something that wasnt mine :( I waited and waited but noone showed up looking for it. Since its better then what I got Ill keep wearing it till they do...
Latter a guy in some wonderful looking bluish armour comes along and ask if Im new. Im figure "great Im sooooo dead," but after I say I am... he asked me questions about if I was liking game so far. Before he left he said was my lucky day and gave me some adena, and said it would make starting a little easier. I decided keep it in bank now cause seems like Im making more then enuff cash to buy what I need. Not just cause got some money; but am very glad met him cause seemed be very nice person :)
I even met another nice person inside the cave city, once I got brave enuff to go looking around. I asked why there was 5 dwarves running back and forth with real stupid names (like njhnjhnjh and wewuwrwujh.) I was explained about what a bot is, which I must say is pretty stupid in my eyes. Why people allowed have a cheat program play for em? My first time seeing them and even I knew something was wrong. Anyway, a girl I met in there was a real sweety and even gave me a pair kitty ears to wear in my hair :):) They just tooo adorable. By now Im thinking what my friends told me was all wrong; Im meeting nothing but really nice people.
Welp I spent the SP I had and got a quest to kill some fungus, so off I go adventuring. Finally I see the mushroom creatures with claws and figure "hmmmm looks like fungus to me." What was striking me strange is it took me while to find em, I ran all over the place. In all that travel I didnt see anyone else adventuring. Was it just off time or the game this lonely?
Now is where my night get different. I see this other female running towards me, which I got all excited cause thought found someone to hunt with (I prefer to solo while learn the game but like being where can talk to others.) My excitement changed real fast when I noticed she had a red name. I decided this not talking time and tried to run for the city. She hit me once which took half my life, but just then as I ran around a tree... this nice fairy creature jumped in on myside. I stopped to cheer on the fairy, but wasnt much cheering to do cause she died real fast. When she died, I saw another sparkling sword on the ground so grabbed it. I was really sweet too cause was set dual swords that I really like look of. She then sends me a message asking for the swords back. I was like noway, thats what you get for trying kill me. She said she was just kidding around and wasnt really going to kill me; and that it was real lame of me to run to the pixie to save me. I ran back and stayed in the cave city while she started getting real nasty to me. Am I being a bytch for not giving them back? I never asked her to stab me with them, I didnt start anything at all.
I went out latter to try out the new swords. Even though really like looks I bite with them seriously bad :/ I swing over and over and never hit. So I figure it be better to sell them to someone and add that with the cash the nice guy gave me and buy me some stuff I can use right. But how do I know what the swords worth?
Sorry if I bored anyone, the game wont let me log in right now so I just wanted express my night and ask couple questions.
I wouldn't return the swords. It's the RED's fault for attacking you. Serves him/her right.
Other than that, everything you said seems pretty normal. Oh, and yeah, the beginning areas are pretty scarce. Most players are playing in the high level areas. Few veterans are playing new characters, and new players only trickle in.
But once you get to the next castle down (Gludin or Gludio I think) you see alot more people.
Good that u found some nice people. Well there are some tards who run around pking lowbies, if they drop just tell them to show it.
In the title of the swords there is a letter or the info where it says what grade they are like d c b a s. They prolly d grade but should be worth 2+ mil depending on server, their patk is maybe 107? Grats . Btw it isnt really worth it using stuff who isnt your grade. you will be able to use them once u turn lvl 20.
if you see someone with a red name near starting areas, most likely it is a pk character. the reason why you're missing so much with the dual swords is because, well you're not level 20 yet. if you put your mouse over the weapon, you'll see "D" in a little square after the weapon's name, indicating that it is a D grade weapon, which requires D grade expertise (obtained at level 20) to use with any penalties. you'll get C, B, A, and S grade expertise at levels 40, 52, 61, and 76 respectively.
if you wear graded items without the appropriate expertise, you'll suffer statistic penalties. for weapons, your accuracy will be lowered by 20. and for armors/jewelries, your movement speed, attack speed, cast speed will all be lowered
Keep the dual swords. If a red player dies, especially while they're trying to pk new players, and they drop stuff, pick it up and dance on their dead body. What duals did you get? If they are d-grade duals you will have a penalty when trying to use them, and that's why you can't hit anything. You may just want to hang on to them, as they will be good weapons for you later on, depending on the class you are playing. Or you could sell them (make sure you know the going price before you set up shop).
You probably won't encounter too many people while hanging around your starter town. When you get to level ~20 and start to venture further out, you'll come across more people.
Put the double swords ('duals') in your Warehouse (when in the cave city (DEV = Dark Elven Village) open your map and you will see where it is.) They sound like they are above your 'grade' of expertise to use (NG = no grade, they sound like D or C grade)
You can keep the duals, since they dropped from a red player and no one (except the red) blames you for keeping them. The stuff stashed behind the curtains in the starting area, you should give back if the owner can indentify them. They normally would have returned quickly.
The starting area, where you are now, is usually pretty empty except for high level folks on their way to one of the three high-level dungeons nearby. When you get to Dion, you will start to see a lot of folks, and Giran is crowded with them, as are most of the cities to the north of Giran (except Oren, for some reason.)
Only way that person with red name could of droped his wearpon if he had more then 5 PK's (player kills, killing someone who didnt fought back). Probably that person was "having fun" by attakign lowbies in starter town, so you got a bit of justice served there :) . If that person will continue to bug you you can type in /block name and you will no longer resieve mesages from him.
Good luck in the world of Aden :)
It sounds to me, like someone put the items at the spawn point for a newbie to find. No one in their right mind would transfer gear at that particular place, where EVERY dark elf spawns for the first time when they log in.
If the OP is for real, great to see a new player with such a good attitude :) You had some amazing luck.
And always keep a red's loot, if they try to kill you.
OMG This made me laugh so hard...this is a wonderful start to the lineage experience for you sweetie. Just know that your gear can be dropped when you die, so you should store the dual swords in the warehouse for now. Get to know the game a bit and you will know the price to sell them for later if you need to. If you sell them now you will just lose money.
Do the newbie quest from the gatekeeper if you would like to check on prices, she can give you a one time use ticket to giran, which is the central marketplace here. Then look around at everything everyone is selling. It is time consuming, but will save you money in the end.
There is a small easy quest to get back to your original village (the cave place) when you are finished exploring giran, so don't be afraid to go ^^
Have fun and congratulations on your good luck today ^^
Well I gotta say that was a good story, just what I needed after reading all the doom and gloom about the emergency server maint, I just hope your luck contnues and that you find this game(and ppl) as enjoyable as it is to me gl.
DONT give the duals back!
" I didnt want to kill you" is complete [censored]
Be thankfull you didnt die in 1 shot because the red had EVERY intention to kill you. Why? Because if he dropped his weapons he had already killled 5+ people before he tried killing you. Heck, he probably killed 100+ people like you.
Keep the duals, used them when you will have the grade masteries. Dont sell them , cause chances are they are D grade duals and they are the weapons you will use from level 20 to 40.
Reapeat: Dont give them back, that red deserves loosing them for killing lowbies.
Why dont the red I kill in noob villages never drop anything :( Its just not fair. Gratz on your luck !
Well, I'll tell you, when I first started L2 I was only planning on taking a look and spending about a week.
I remember going to the Dark Elf Village (where the hand is) and thinking "OMG, that is the coolest thing ever". Of course what was cooler was that the rest of the statue was below the city streets.
And of course I remember running out of the west gate with some other players and expecting an attack at any time. It actually never came. I was so paranoid my first few hours in game.
IN any case, welcome... don't worry that there aren't a lot of people in your area. Those are the new player areas. We only get trickle of new players. Hit lvl 20, do you first class change and then head to Dion. You will find plenty of 20+ players there.
aww that's nice o.o
wish my first day was like that :P
but with the armors...i'd say don't worry about it just keep 'em
cuz the guy/girl could've just freight (u can freight items in warehouses for ur other characters to safely pick up at) the items if they were top NG gears (that's what i did)
and if not...nah he/she probably accidentally bought the wrong thing or just clearing out storage or something
there are tons of ppl playing lineage...trust me -.o
maybe a lil too many (j/k :P) that's what causes latency at certain towns
hmm btw what server are u in??
i'm so bored of sitting around o.o
let me help let me help lol
(altho i'm still half a newb so other than emergency body guard...i can't really help that much o.o)
if only i knew healers are the hardest class to play...i wouldn't have even tried -.o
anywayz...with checking prices u can try go to [censored].com
they have some pretty organized prices on all items (from quest items to recipes to materials, basically everything u can possibly think of) for each server
it has helped me tons...(especially with the buy low sell high technic -.o)
BTW i sometimes leave unused ng armor in starter areas so that they can be found and used (just not worth it to sell to npc) kinda like being recylcled glad to see someone else thinks the same.
Well that was great read. i started a new char also on a new server. an i had some amazing luck an met some really nice people. i am now in a good clan with some crazy people. starting up an geting money is hard in this game id say keep the duals then when u at the lvl of its use. use it or trade it for a wepon for your class. but u really should keep hold of it untill u know the game better. also another idea maybe when u have d grade armour to put the armour u found back in its spot so that another new player can have a good start that u had. well i hope that u contuine to have fun in this game there are a small number of people to watch out for who will try to rip you off or kill you but dont let them distroy the good name of the honest players out there.
Yay, I am glad you are enjoying it! Lineage II has some of the nicest and some of the worst players. You will find MANY MANY helpful people. Bad reviews and the bad rep this game gets is a little crazy and blown way out of proportion.
Anyway, yes if a red player tries to kill you but he dies whatever he drops are yours. Never return something to a red unless you know the red went read on a bot/farmer or was being attacked himself and somehow in the battle killed a flagged person. But 99% if you see a red RUN, or if you think you can take him, stand your ground! If the red isn't yelling something like "Don't attack me", when he sees you...then who cares kill him any way you can and take his stuff.
Anyway welcome to L2! What server are you playing on?
First night and you made over 6 million adena in gimmes! lol! thats awesome..
for the record, the kitty ears fetch about 4 million. they also can drop if you're killed so be careful! the dual swords, depending on exactly what sort they are.. 2 million for D grade
I had a lvl 52 main before i figured out the freight system :). Either way, i dropped junk for my alt dwarf behind a tree somewhat close to the starting point in the dwarf village, i actually did it twice, but i made sure to put my alt at the same spot behind a tree where i was dropping.
So basically, i dropped, logged out, logged onto dwarf alt, picked up junk in front of my face.
I've found black ore earring on the ground, i've also found aspen shield and 101 varnish on the ground while leveling, people died and I found what they lost. If you're on Hindemith, drop me a pm and i'll show you the ropes and let you know the value of the items you have.
I remember my first red encounter...he came running to me in talking island and i said why do u want to kill me. He said i am just bored I guess. I said to him that I am just trying to level and just want to be friend. Then he said he go kill someone else. Ahhh talk your way out of things.
Either u totally made that up or yur luckiest person ever in Lineage2 history...I say the former. :p ur lyin
If calling someone youve never met or know anything about a liar brings you happiness in your life, Im very happy to of helped :) I dont allow some anonymous persons oppinion of me hurt my feelings. I know for some my experience was the same O same O; guess I was just excited cause I started playing lastnight expecting the worst from the game. Wooried that I wasted my money on a game that was beautiful but Id be made to miserable to play by bunch jerks. Instead I met 4 people lastnight. Three was very nice and one a ***** (imo.) Thats better ratio then the people I meet in my normal life, so Im very happy :)
That being said....
For everyone else, THANKS for the warm welcome and nice words :) :) Im trully hoping I find the same fun here as rest ya making it sound. Wish could thank all ya by name but would take awhile hehe.
As to some the questions; since cant log in <cries> I cant check for sure what grade the swords was. Think they was called art something & elven. Im pretty sure Im on the Hindemeth server.. which ever is the first server listed when ya start game. But that sounds very familiar.
And... 6 million adena?!?!?!?!?! I was getting like 100 adena off killing the mushroom thingies... thats ALOT of mushrooms! Though I dont count it as that cause those ears I will cherish :) :) Id never give away a gift. I do feel very guilty excepting them though :/ if had any idea they worth so much I never would have. Thanks so much for warning me that could drop em. I had no idea and was thrilled running around in them.
Well I think the first server ever listed when you open up ur client for the first time is Bartz. But I am not sure, lol.
Anyway, those ears are worth 4million, but that dosn't mean that is how much they spent on them. I did the quest for cat ears and it was like 500-600k or something. And most likely you won't drop those. :)
Well anyway, I am glad you are loving the game...and I hope you continue to. The worst part of it is the grind at higher levels. But if you aren't worried about reaching high level right away or go grind crazy, the game will be fun for a long long time.
Welcome to the game! Congratz on having such good luck also :D Im glad to hear that u met some wonderful people :D If u play on erica server let me know.
That mushroom quest will get you about 3000 adena each time you run it. Just make sure when you turn in the quest you start it again with the same npc. You will be killing the mushrooms for a long time, but it will be worth it ^^
If you have a chance (and with servers down you do ^^) look up information on seeding and harvesting. You can get materials from the fruits you obtain and those materials will be useful later for crafting or even to sell for adena.
The worst part of it is the grind at higher levels. But if you aren't worried about reaching high level right away or go grind crazy, the game will be fun for a long long time.
Oh yeah...whenever you are in the newbie areas there are guardians around..in the DE areas these are the fairys and the blight treants...stay near them when fighting if you can, and draw any red named person that comes at you to them...it will save you every time ^^
Great, I can vouch for the fact that your not lying because I had a similar experience in the first week I played.
I was pkd 2 times and once i went near a pixie and the pixie killed him in 2 shots. It was really unexpected and hilarious because id never seen the pixies do anything or give any quests i didnt realize theyd strike back. Also I had a player come up to me in elven village oneday when i was struggling to get some kida armour set together, had barely discovered what a soe is and had only been to gludio cause i ran there. This person was so nice and said hey Im gonna help you otu new guy and went and bought me some armour, sheild and not the best but a better weapon. It was amazing. And I might have burned out in this game if it wasnt for there generosity. It took me a loooong time to get to 20 on my first, which was a white elf fighter. Also people helping me out and answering questions about the game in game. In MY experience in this game for every 1 bad player there have ben 5 nice ones who have come along. Personally I love the risk of this game. If it hadnt been for the bad times the good times wouldnt have felt so good by contrast. Whats great about Lineage is how the world is so real with its own economy and politics and like the real world there are risks and things arent always fair, but then again unlike the real world in Lineage you can exact justice upon someone or a clan. Good deal getting those duels. If you an elf fighter Id save them till I was 20 then use them. Youll already have a geat 2million adena weapon. Otherwise you should be able to get 2 million for them if they are elven bastard duels. If they are +3 or +4 youll get 2.5 mil. Ask another player you trust how much to sell them for. And sell them in dion if you really need the money.
Good luck in the game. Hope you keep playing. :)
good read! Welcome to the game and after reading your 1st encounter with the game considder your self really lucky.
Yes there are nice people in the game that help starters. Plenty examples to read in the forums where players offer some stuff to new people. Then again there are assh*les too. Usualy I try to kill those first :)
Anyways enjoy the game, don't let it scare you off when it get though because your efforts will pay off in the long term.

First of all, check dion or giran to see if anyone else is selling the swords you're talking about.
If you can't find a price to base off of, you could do a price check in the Trade forum, make sure you list your server name.
