So besides the horrendous grind, the only thing that really ****** me off about the game was dropping items when dying. You know, you work for six months to get the uber sword of whateverness, get into combat, die, and drop it. That was a game breaker for me.
So I'm wondering if this has been changed? I know that if you are chaotic with more than 5 karma points you will drop loot if you die in PvP, but...
What about dropping loot in regular PvP (purple on purple), or in PvE? Does this still happen?

Yea you still drop stuff .. but you no longer can drop the weapon you hold in your hand if you dont have more then 5pks and are red or something like that ...
Well you still drop things...but its very unlikely that you will drop an equiped sword. Most likely are things that are in your inventory and the like...but sometimes you won't drop anything at all. If you're pked you most likely won't drop anything at all...hope that helps

I'm not so upset about losing things in the inventory, simply because you can choose to store that stuff (mostly). It just strikes me as odd, in such an equipment demanding game (where it is so hard to get stuff in the first place) to lose it so easily.
you can drop armor yes... but in the past 5 times of my chars dying i havent dropped a thing (luck maybe?) but also i have never heard of anybody dropping anything after they have been pk'ed or died while purple (killed by another player) but, i could be wrong.

You can drop your equipted armor. In fact, up to five things can drop at once. I have had equipted armor AND jewlery drop at the same time, twice now.
Although you are not supposed to be able to, you can drop your equipted weapon. The GM are supposed to give it back to you if this occurs, but my friend did not get his weapon back.
Hmmmm. I have the feeling that my quick peak back into the game is going to be quick indeed.
I love PvP. But I much prefer and environment where items are less important than skill (not useless, just not the game maker/breaker), and where you get to keep your stuff once you've busted *** trying to get it.
That's what turned me off from the game in the first place. :(
Hi. I just recently came back as well, and there has been alot of improvements to the game in general, I've died alot (lol) and have never dropped anything since I started, neither has my fiance so......:P
Well that is good enough for me :) I'm not as concerned about dying in PvE (it happens, but not often). I just hated the idea of busting my posterior to get some nice gear and then losing it as soon as I used it in PvP...
I do find it ironic that the day I come back (after a year or two hiatus) the servers are all down :eek: Just like the good old days...
welcome back, as for the down time, its a looser who has ruined it for all of us. ive only dropped once and i got it back, depends (ive been here for 2 years now) on the person or people you are around. gl have fun

To answer your question a lil bit better then others have.
while in PvE you can not drop your equipted weapon. how every if you have a spare in your invatory it can drop. all other items are dropable.
If you got over 5 pks (6 or more), then you can drop you weapon, and any other items. (I got on a clanie about going red on the PTS last night, cause he went red and droped a dagger...hes a archer tho...I said it's his falt, he got mad and left...lol good ridence)
you wont drop items while in PvP unless your red with over 5 pk's.'
the grind is still the grind, I recumend if your going to play to get your self a healer.
Also Kravi, stick around the new C5 chronicle is just around the corner with alot of good eye candy and other interesting things, so definitly wait u might enjoy C5 the most, i know i will....
Pvp = no drop
Pk = no drop unless you are the pker and have 5+ pk points and die. So if you are pked = 0 chance of dropping
Dropping when dying to mobs happens ocassionally. You often drop inventory items, then sometimes a jewellery piece if you're really unlucky like me you will drop your doom helmet first day you come back to game >_<.
