First try the "Check File" button at the startup screen (Instead of "Start") to do a full check of all files...you might have a corrupted server list file.
I re-installed L2 and I did the check file and it went through and its still doing the same thing. Only 2 servers show and when I log in it uses my old password instead of my new one I just re-set.
Yeah...about that my friend tried to get me a free server and I had no idea what he was doing but I ended up paying anyways. Where is the host file and what am I looking for to remove?

Riiiiiiiggghhttt...
And, yes, it is against the EULA to use the client anywhere except official servers. The funniest part is that the OP was ****** at NCSoft because HE muffed up his own install with that private server crap. GG.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc
The file is just called "hosts". (no extension) It is a straight up text file so make sure you open it in Notepad(.exe) and save as a "Text Document" and "ANSI" encoding. (You may need to unhide hidden and system files to find it.)
If you have a clean hosts file there should only be two real entries in the file. (Any line that starts with "#" is a comment and is ignored when the OS looks at the file.)
127.0.0.1 localhost
xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx l2authd.lineage2.com <----Delete this line
(the xxx being some other IP addess.) Just remove that line of the file and save as noted above then try playing the game normally.
