yes people do pvp. The karma system doesnt stop anything. It prevents SOME pvp buts its bleh. Lots of siege pvp lots of arena lots of open. PvP in Lineage 2 is very prefessional. Youll love it or hate it.
dumb mobs waiting for you to walk up to them and kill them.
haha i agree completely
and yea there is alot of pvp. most of it is at 52+ tho
Edit: my personal favorite way to pvp is get a clan really ****** at you, they will keep trying (or succeding) to kill you
Territorial PvP isn't uncommon on Devianne - someone comes into your spot, you kill them (if you're clean the working off is fast, and it should be - yes, carebear Mal has PKed people out of her room/spot), or they kill you.
The PvP is really bad though, so don't get your hopes up.

Woot, I play that way, too bad my newest toon got KoSed by so many people...
The only ones ever started chasing me down were some chinese whose little automatic party got disrupted by like 20 Sartyr...
Most "random" pvp is more like this:
You run into someone, you attack him, he waits, gets killed/BSoEs (seen on level 49 toons), relogs, comes with a 76++ Nuker and beats the sh... out of you, then starts to tell you that you are a noob and stuff...
Nearly noone got the balls to fight back except they are totally overbuffed mages or archers...
Sad thing...
Or mages, or archers, or buffed people... lack of balance makes PvP unpretty. I prefer dying because I messed up, not because I rolled the wrong toon. I.e. on another game I had about half a dozen fights with someone (yes, territorial... xD; ) in a row, and I lost three in the middle simply because I messed up and kited wrong.
In L2, I get auraflared down (yes, it still works on my servitor, thank you NCSoft) even if I do manage to close in on a nuker.
sounds like rising force online would be a better game for you then maline
1 on 1 fights there doesnt exist, because of how cheap and powerful potions are
In a way its kinda good, means you cant get ganked etc because 1 person will never have enough dmg output to be able to kill you before you potion up again, on the other hand it kinda makes the game tedious as you need to click that **** potion button ALL THE TIME
Also, leveling is more tedious than L2, more boring, and theres ZERO content in the game
But its pvp does actually have some neat features (the result of the potion spam being 1 of em)
I liked RFO, but it's not a good long term game. I don't mind 1 on 1 fights, I love them - I just want fights that involve at least some decisions on the player's part, not a preset outcome based on buff status and class. ;)
PvP for low levels: You get ganked by high levels
PvP for high levels: You get ganked by flavour of the chronicle high level class
PvP for high levels and in clans: To be ganked and to gank.
Li2 99% of the time: Gank stupid dumb mobs standing there minding their own business.
The other 1% is Sieging, warring other clans etc.
Best servers to be involved in ganks for low levels at least is Bartz where the reds still like to hunt Newbies.

I totally agree. PVP shouldn't be able to be won by just hitting some buttons and being a better class than the other, it should be actual tactical demonstration. Any a**hole can be a ranged attack player, the people looking for genuine melee PVP and an actual challenge go to close-quarters, where they are disappointed with the lack of balance.

And then moan about it on l2 forums =P
You need to make a distinction between 2 types of PvP.
One is the 1 vs 1 or 9 vs 9 PvP that happends daily. It usually happend in hunting groups where 1 person or group ganks the other. Here it all depends on classes and the element of surprise. Little to no tactics are involved and in the end some XP is lost. It is of little importance.
The other is sieges and mass-PvP (usually for Baium/Antharas/Lillith). Here classes are less important, and tactics play a bigger role (especially in C5). Killing a single bishop before he can ally-rez 20-30 people back can change the entire fight. Being able to have a force of 300 people move at the same time requires true leadership. This are the fights that matter, the ones in which something is gained or lost (besides XP).
L2 is all about the big fights. The fights which are won or lost because of team work and good strategy.
1v1 out hunting (ie ganker vs solo class, ganker propably wins)
1v1 arena
team vs team (so no solo classes here)
guild vs guild (again, no solo classes)
where does the solo classes (WC, SH, PS,ES, tyrant) fit into the picture ?
Arena: Lots and lots of gatehoppers. Jump in, cast anchor and a few nukes, jump out before anyone targets them. That, or just blast everyone in the arena one or more grades below you.
During hunting: If you want someones spot, odds are they're a mage or archer with buffbots in tow. Thats an automatic victory for them. On the offchance you do surprise them, they'll just force log. If someone wants your spot, they're either a mage/archer with buffbots in tow, a low level taunting you to flag so a high level nearby can 2 hit you, or a red dredged out of the closet who is still at least one grade higher. Everyone who isn't busy cheating or being underhanded has already learned not to flag back.
Clan warfare: Both major alliances on my server fight dirty. They know when a party of the opposing alliance is three floors below them in ToI, and will log/SoE if they don't like the odds. On the offchance you do catch them by surprise, be ready to watch them force log.
In short, you will not find anyone willing to actually PvP. They will only flag and fight if they *know* they will win.
Yeah the AuraFlare is still nasty. And when archers use the stun shot with slow or hamstring, they are unbeatable! The only toon I have seen come close is the DA. That is because they can take the damage, shield stun and use the cat!
