Here we go again. This is the second time in three days, not to mention the horrible lag yesterday. This time could we please at least get told whats going on????
not to be a jerk but emergency maint again we just went through this on monday. Didn't fix your issues then? Would be nice to know this time what the emergency maint is for (the actual reason) since u didnt' tell us the first time. I work over nights so both monday and today has hit at the only time i get to play and i get screwed out of playing....so since I am getting screwed out of playing it would be nice to know what the emergency maint is realy for.
I have to say this is getting really bad. Surely even so called emergency maintenance could allow for a 5 min warning so people can get out of agro areas.
Its the second time this week I cannot play the 2 hours I have available.
I live in Europe and this is the only time I have during the day.
I think if this goes on I will quit the game, as I cannot afford an account which i cant use..

Well i for one hope this emergency maintenance fixs the server stabilitys issues alot of have been experiencing on Kain server.
My connection to the server has been so choppy lately i havent played much at all since the big downtime a few days ago, i decided to try and play some today and died twice to 5 - 10 second lag spikes.

As much as it pains me to say so, WoW is starting to look better and better.
The lag spikes I had yesterday seemed to be every 20 minutes, when the festival darkness started, causing me to miss the sign up 3 times and end up being the leader of a not very happy party... :confused:
Another Emergency Maintenance with no warning servers just go down hope I didn’t die. It would be nice to have some type of warning or posting on Website. Main website says everything is fine. At least give us an eta on servers back up time and don’t let us sit here for 9 hours again.
At least a 2 min warning like "Emergency Maint server shut down in 2mins please get to a safe spot asap" Honestly how *****ing hard would that be. I think that when something like this happens, all char's should be moved to nearest town prior to server restart. That way, if you decide not to watch the boards like a hawk and miss your chance to move out of whatever danger zone you are in, you will not immediately die upon log in.

Mistryl, is there any way the mobs aggro can be turned off or something towards a player who logs in after the downtime? ie. so they dont die soon as they go in.. or is this not possible maybe..

ppl...you cant be serious "can we plz get a warning when servers are going to go down for EMERGENCY maintence?....the only reasonable one i read in this entire forum is the 1 min heads up...thats fine but if its an EMERGENCY there's rarely a heads up.....

Ok yeah servers are messed up have been since brought back up monday, mobs in cattas acting wierd.... understand WHY the main. is needed but as many of said a warning would be nice considering i'm standing in the middle of a cata.... jesh at least port us all to safe spots or make sure we dont die and drop when logging back in

Well i would recommend that the GMs move EVERYONE to a save location before the servers go backup aka town as a lot of people got dced in the middle of hunting...
but you gotta expect this stuff as c5 gets closer to its launch date :-)
i dont think C5 launching has anything to do with it as this has never happened for any other chronicle launching in the past.
Actually I was not here for C4 but in the others we had issues like this. As to stable game play it sounds as if they have been doing a great job until the last few days from your post so give them a break. At least now there is someone that actually talks to you one of the game play reason I left for was that NcSoft never communicated with us at all. :p

or at least give us the exp equal to one death (on every character in game) it would make every feel a little better and those who die wont actually lose any exp :p (make that two deaths so that no matter wat we get exp in compensation for servers going down yet again) :p

it's like on a stormy day even tho u don't get to go out side but at least no school/work comes with it so it's still bearable :P

Someone said +20% experience to all character, thats a good deal, atleast we should get something!! Its not that they will return some of the monthly pay to us.... just give everyone something they can be happy about!!!

Here Here... I need to lvl to 52 soon and I cannot do this when the servers are down for 6hrs + at a time for an "Emergancy"... this better not be just another exploit fix...
I have 2 days off this week... 2!!! and both days that I have off have been wasted by emergancy maintanance...

I think a % compansation is in order for this... I like the idea of everyone getting an extra 20% no matter what lvl you are.. 7 or 70... if I'm going to pay to play, then I expect things to work...

WoW has horrible lag some evenings, absolutely horrible. I can't count how many times we have been doing large raids in Molten Core and the server crashes. All the time.

WoW doesn't go down a lot but when they have to go down for like 6 hours at a time unannounced they compensate their players to help keep them happy... It's what I'd do if I was incharge of a big system like this

You can get them to replace your lost exp or stuff should that be the case... the catch22 is that you have to go through weeks of /GM petitions and emails back and forth and provide a s**t ton of documented proof so in the end its not really worth that 6% you lost and the weapon you dropped that billy-o-sunuvab**ch picked up

My educated guess regarding this is that the reaon is something to do with an exploit or program or something of the sort, and they cant tell us without someone taking advantage and doing more to the servers. Ie. Remember how in Internet Explorer there may be a fatal flaw, and Microsoft may take 4 months fto fix it, well.. if only 1 group of people know this flaw its a 'small' critical problem, but if loads of people know its a disaster. I imagine ncsoft are trying to fix the problem behnd the scenes and when they have plugged the gap will be happy to give an idea what they were solving. Thats my educated guess at least.

I got a composite armor drop literally seconds before the server went down, I'm sure there are many other people who got a rare drop, or a rare enchant to suceed, or an item craft, that 5 minutes would have given us all a chance to stop, return to town, place an item in the warehouse, or something so that the server, if it did indeed roll back or something, would not be an issue. I can understand that the term emergency is equivelant to unplanned, but even still. if its not a server crash that brings the server down, warnings SHOULD be issued.

I would like to know 3 things from NCSoft:
1. A reason why this is happening again for the 2nd time in 3 days.
2. An estimated time we can expect servers to be back up.
3. How we are all going to be compensated for the down time.
All 3 of these questions should be very easily answered. As paying customers, most companies would never get away with such poor customer service. NCSoft please step it up. I would like to see some kind of response to these questions within a reasonable amount of time(i.e not 12 hours). The last time we went through this "emergancy maintenance" we were left in the dark, only receiving vague posts from Mystril every couple of hours. :mad:

What is so different about NA and Korean L2and how did any differences get introduced to the product? Maybe you need to increase your staff levels in the NA office. ;)
It is strange that these exploits (if this outage is for an exploit also) have come to light so late in a chronicle. I wonder how many people have benefited from them (if that is possible) before they came to light.

well when you fix one exploit, it hurts the bot's bottom line.
Wouldn't surprise me if they were angry at the lost income (from not being able to make the gold to sell to the lazy people that buy it) and trying to break the servers

Everyone just needs to sit back and take some deep breaths, because getting aggitated about this is not going to do anything except make it more painful for yourself. Yes it would be wonderful if they would give us some simple news about what was going on and warn us about this next time, or what the future holds, but we cant make that happen. Im sure in due time we will hear some news, so just be patient. If the server is rolled back or something of the like, they will have to make some sort of compensation, and they might do so regardless. Everyone just sit and wait cause getting you undies in a bundle wont help matters... :)

First thing I did was post on forums a few times... then I found the forums inactive... so I decided to play BF1942... but got bored after 10 mins... then I played CS for about 3 seconds before I got bored... then I played Mahjonng for about 45 mins... and inbetween had a brief look at the tele and a couple other websites trying to find L2 news lol... L2 vault on ign had some brief news but this is the only forum thats any good so that didnt work :P Since then I been refreshing waiting for the forums to come back while listening to some CDs. Am I sad? Maybe, but I like being a geek tyvm :)

The green light is up, but only the log in server works... past that nothing happens... won't even take you to your toons list...

hahaha. Its wierd. The servers go down and all of the sudden i realized i was bald and naked, very odd feeling. :P
First thing I did was post on forums a few times... then I found the forums inactive... so I decided to play BF1942... but got bored after 10 mins... then I played CS for about 3 seconds before I got bored... then I played Mahjonng for about 45 mins... and inbetween had a brief look at the tele and a couple other websites trying to find L2 news lol... L2 vault on ign had some brief news but this is the only forum thats any good so that didnt work :P Since then I been refreshing waiting for the forums to come back while listening to some CDs. Am I sad? Maybe, but I like being a geek tyvm :)
Lol, we all know there won't be any compensation, and ppl will still play this game, NC knows that, sure we can ask till we're blue in the face but then they'll throw the EULA at u again, well, ima take the time and try some of these MMORPG free trials that i got, I'll see yas all later ^_^
my feelings on this are (knowing hte EULA and that they can shut down the servers at anytime for any period of time) is that as a comapny that wants to keep the business of the customers they should have some sort of compensation.
also fairly sure that they're not sure if the exploit from the previous server maintenance was fixed, so to be sure seig is up and there testing on that server to make sure the fix works this time. all guess of course.

So why the did the message boards come down? What horrible emergency does affect the boards as well as the game?
I think it is time to anounce that they will wipe all servers and force everybody to play a warsmith as other classes are taken of the game due to exploiting skills.

They should add a "Customer Satisfaction Rating System" so every time we log off of game it should ask how your gaming expirence was today... LOL
You should post that in the Suggestions Forum, doesn't sound like a bad idea. Only let players rate once per 24 hours per account. At the end of the month NCSoft could post the overall rating.

After all the phone, cable, and power companies don't give specifics just the information that they are working on it.
WOW has more articles than lineage.... becase any noob can pick up a copy of wow and max a toon out in a few weeks..... its a much easier game to play... its like super mario bros. its for everyone.... lineage is for the hardcore mmo player...
you can write all the articles you want on it but the fact that 80% of the ppl that try it will quit once they realize they actually have to work to play it

When my servers crash and the staff phone up I say "Sorry its unavailable at this time, we are working on a fix, try again in X minutes/hours" - so actually I'm a hypocrit because thats all ncsoft are saying hehe :p

BUT i thought mistryl was a PR person not an actual techy. or am i wrong? I mean if thats the case why couldnt she just go into the underground dungeon that is the server room and listen to what igor and dr frankenstein are talking about and then just tell what they were talking about. lol. thats makes no sense!

Id be perfectly understanding if they said they didnt have a clue what a hacker was doing... you'd probably need to be a very intelligent cyber-crime investigator to pick those traces up :p
well the problem with giving out information like that is security.
why do you think microsoft and other software vendors hate when people disclose problems before they can get them patched. it gives information that would allow possible exploits to be introduced using those vulnerabilites.

Agreed 100%, but saying "theres an exploit being used" doesnt give any other hackers much of a clue....

Server downtime isn't fun for anyone and I can understand being upset, but please keep your comments constructive.

Well, they do ban account for being up setted, they do ban because of their failure to inform the customers, which they are taking the money from.
Anyway, this is the exactly why i dont play lineage 2 anymore, beside once per year when the new Chronicle is out and to play PTS. I feel great to wait for it without problem :) Cheer

ROFL, why should you glued yourself to the computer ? If i was Mystryl, i would say. This problem will take 3 days to finish, but it could be sooner as of our hard working on it. Would you feel happy ?

I just got this from a freind who has afreind who's cousin has aaunt who works for one of those big mmo company's out west somewhere that heard from a coworker that we are going to be compensated with a "souvenir chrono that says "I survived the crash of 06" and when you hit mobs it makes crahing sound but theres more, we are going to receive in the mail (snail) a discount coupon for adenda that you buy for rl money from one of those companys that sell it to players of this game. SWEET!

well well well, most everything I want to say will mostlikely get me banned.....In all my years I have never dealt with anysort of company that has a "your lucky we provide this service" attitude, till NCSoft came into my life. Throwing your customers a bone, i.e. 2x xp for 24-48 hours would not cause ANY fiscal loss to them, and would foster positive customer feedback. But this idea is forigen to them it seems. I can understand not giving ppl free play as this would effect their profit margin, but 2x drops and 2x xp would not in the slightest.
but they will keep ignoring our views of their support system/staff and we will keep playing/paying.
WTF guys...I knew NCsoft had problems keeping the servers and the condition (lags-bots) in them in a good state but that's too much..is it gonna happen every day now? well,at least u offered us 2 more hrs by avoiding the tuesday's regular maint..TYVM !!

Think , this is possible : The servers have been down for Emegency Maintenence. Please Estimate the time for it to be back up running is about 5 days from now. It could be few hours away also. So you decide to glued your eyes here and wait, or to go out fishing. Have a nice day

That may be so, but Blizzard doesn't have such harsh server issues, and not this frequently.
L2 is still my love though, despite how mad they make me from time to time.
Oh Blizzard has server issues, I assure you. Go read the forums any day of the week and there are at least 5-10 threads, each PAGES long complaining about lag, disconnects, etc.
WoW has a different sort of grind. 1-60 is fun. After that, it's just raiding for gear, going from one instance to another. No real character development, a marginal crafting system and economy.
but you gotta expect this stuff as c5 gets closer to its launch date :-)
i dont think C5 launching has anything to do with it as this has never happened for any other chronicle launching in the past.
Actually I was not here for C4 but in the others we had issues like this. As to stable game play it sounds as if they have been doing a great job until the last few days from your post so give them a break. At least now there is someone that actually talks to you one of the game play reason I left for was that NcSoft never communicated with us at all. :p
Actually, the lag time was just as bad before C4...but there was none of this two days of 12 hour downtime involved. :confused:
if not been posted already, the problem they're having is all because of the PTS, they are running it on the same servers as thee real game, and its overloading, and if this keeps up they will lose data and not re-imburse anyone, just wait, one day soon you will log on your account you will be missing items, or possibly even a character, one thing i will suggest is: when you run your private server, get some new servers to run it on, do not keep running it on the same server as the real one or it will overload again and crop data will be lost
