I know the answer will be a unananimous NO but if anyone on the PTS is playing a summoner and managed to win in PvP, I'd really like to hear about it. Looks like i'll be going back to my SK.
I haven't heard many summoners complaining that much so that is a good sign. I havent used curse fear against a summons yet so dont know how well that works.
Sleep nerf we have all heard enough about that.
Biggest noise right now is the daggers are awesome again and hate works great in pvp.
Yup, but even with the damage being not tooo badly nerfed, the classes that summoners didn't have too much trouble killing are getting boosted i.e. tanks and daggers.
Im having trouble seeing the role of a PS in C5 on the seige field, and with smaller scale PvP, which is why im considering going back to my SK.
There are 2 roles a PS can fil. An excellent siege healer which is one that i've become very proficient at and works well with a good group. This is unaffected by the nerf. The other is heavy hitting DD. The thing about the siege field is that you can set your pet on someone and then do whatever. In a Siege a PS is actually better at mage killing than killing any sort of fighter. That's not likely to change with a 10% damage reduction.

Elpys is a sure win... just buff up the summon and let it go at it. Be ready to spam heal...
Well the SS reduction is not that greate, the 30% summon still cost 5 SS.
On otherh and the AoE summon cost 4 now, wich meens 1 less per attack, so if you plan to spam shots in C5 your beter off summoning the 10% summon as the SS cost will terminate the extra cost of C crystals.
I can do both. That's teh point of the summoner versatility. If we're light on healers i can fill that role. If we aren't i'm a DD and a good one. NC gave us more options, that's what C4 did. If you chose to see them as nerfs that's an issue you'll hve to deal with.

BAsically they made one of the group oriented pets easier to use. Spamming shots isn't a big deal if you have a half decent party and this will just make it that much easier.
I laughed a bit. Good DDs are archers, nukers, destroyers and maybe some other melee classes - you have no crit to speak of, you cast slow as all hell. Your DPS can probably be outstripped by a dwarf with a bow.
And in case you didn't realise: Summoners are being pushed out of versatility and into the buff***** role, because good luck trying to hit an opponent and doing more damage than a single heal: If you could manage to be more trouble than can be fixed by a healer with ease, it will be easier just to erase.
I can outdamage an even level hawkeye. with NM and a bloody orchid w/ focus. This applies both buffed and unbuffed. We have massive park, almost triple theirs to balance the crit defficiency. I'm sorry you can't be effective in PVP but that's not my problem.
ca. 2500 fully buffed at 75 for the soulless (is that what you use to DD in sieges?), 2225 or so with the sil.
Ca. 2200 fully buffed at 75 for a hawkeye assuming no STR tattoos or +es on his bow, and a clean soul bow, not counting dance of warrior because we'll assume he swapped it out for a defensive song.
First off a HE is no problem for a summoner to kill and that's wtih silhouette. I believe if you read my post i refered to comparsons to a dagger if i said HE rather than TH my apologies but the archer isnt' much different. Much slower attack speed for much more power. Main advantage is of course a disposable DD as opposed to any other fighter which has to go 2 towns away when they die. That's an incredible boon when you have a hard hitting class which excells at killing soft targets.
I'm talking from personal experience, yes a 30% damage hit will suck but it won't be affected a huge amount and in the olympiad i think it's more than fair. I'm not going to reroll because a balance issue (yes there was one) has been fixed.
