I've tried the combination you mentioned, but I think this one is the best by far:
+4 dex -4 con, -1 str +1 dex; or any combination of dex as long as you go +5, and use doom light. Which gives you +8 dex. The only catch is you must use the doom light set, which so far hasnt been any problem for my 7x SR.
Since your basic STR is low, going +4 will just hurt the CON, you should go +5 DEX -5 CON and of course you can take also +4 STR -4 CON to grind with :)
+4 STR is approximately 15% extra PAtk... except a lot of archer PAtk comes from masteries anyway, so it becomes something more like 7 or 8%, and then it's just not worthwhile except at lower levels.

If some class has high basic STR (like Phantom Ranger) going +4/+5 STR on this character is great idea 'cause the more your basic stat is the more it increases when you + it by a symbol or by a set bonus. Since SR has low STR, medium CON, and good DEX I'd go only +5 DEX -5 CON or +5 DEX -2 STR/-3 CON or something like this.
About the symbols:
For example a SR has 1000 P. Attack with his basic (36) STR, he goes +5 on STR and P. Attack goes 1120, a PR who has 1000 P. Attack with his basic (41) STR goes +5 STR and kaboom! He has 1250 P. Attack now.
The same is for CON, going -5 CON on PR (32 CON) will not take as much HP and CP as going -5 CON on Hawkeye (43 CON).
The rest is all in masteries - that's more than a third of the PAtk.
Consequently, buffs like Might and Dance of Warrior as well as STR tattoos just don't do as much for a ranger. Their real beauty unfolds on servitors, which simply have no masteries as far as I'm aware, so they suck the whole benefit up.
Yes, they would do more for a PR than a HE than an SR, but they aren't as grand for archers as for other classes, period. A TK would probably get more of a percentage damage increase out of +STR than a PR.
