The only thing with rock. .is that it covers alot of broad "rock". . like. . oldies. . or AC/DC (which is oldies to some of you) . . to Slipnot. .to Metallica. Either way. . I listen to most all kinds of music. . maybe add "Alternative" for a choice?

completely agree and that's what I am going for. I have a few djs in mind with all different kinds of music taste ^^
For the preview(since i was the only one around...) I played what my sets usually consist of DOUBLE the time of an average set. So there is a good chance that the next dj will always be something different ^^

Same could be said for Country, Jazz, Blues, etc. Too many choices water down the results.
The music i listen to wasnt represented by a choice for some strange reason. I want to hear industrial sound, everything from powernoise, harsh, industrial techno, hardcore, hell anything with a hard steady beat, heavy noise and distortion, that gets my vote.

<sighs> I liked the music selection during your hour show last week :p

Dude! im with this guy :P. i dont wanna be melo to jazz while im trying too pvp :D
i like Skatalites pretty much.got some new stuff from a friend lately, like ngobo ngobo and hotnknives.
from the early 60's till today almost everything that rocks ^^
needs some progressive rock like Dream Theater (*drool)
and some metal like Lacuna Coil (*double drool*)
for jazz how about the song "Some Skunk Funk" .. and ya.. i play trumpet jazz... lol this song was hard!

I'd still like to see some MinWoo - The Battle.....
If you cann't find it let me know, and i'll get you a copy.
And whats Wrong with Save a horse, Ride a cowboy!?! :(
Nothing until your sister plays it so much that it makes you want to claw out your own eyes and ears out with one of those grapefruit spoons thats all rusty and sharp.
Don't worry she did the same with Grease the Movie and the Rocky Horror Picture Show. I have a longer list of things she's ruined....
but yeah, I hear that song and feel the need to cry...cry....cry...cry....cry....cry....
Think like Total Recall when i hear it, only I'm not Arnold Schwarzenegger, I don't live on Mars and I'm not a secret agent....strangely enough a mutant that comes out of someone's stomach DOES talk to me though......
I hear other people like the song so thats cool. Bad Bad Memories *shrug* ^_^
i voted rock but to be more specific, metal!!,. what shonen was playing on the 1st l2 radio preview day was golden! i loved it, er, well, for the hour i was on neway
All of it! I would prefer if the different dj's all played their own genre, so you'd have one show for rock and one for pop and all that.
I'm of the "anything as long as it's good" crowd. I mostly listen to easy/chillout/ambient electronic. I don't have many favourite artists as I spend most of my time on shoutcasts, but a couple that come to mind are leftfield and FSOL.
The genre I dislike the most is teen emo rock pop. (I know I will offend now, sorry!) Like linkin park and evanescence. Evanescence is pop, not goth or heavy!
Hey, sue me. I said I dislike them, not that they are "bad"
*hides*
Mix up the music genres or offer multiple channels please!
OK this may sound strange but ...
Can the devs add an audio option in the Lineage2 client to replace the Lin2 music with direct streaming from Lineage Radio? That way we won't have to screw around with audio options, won't need to run a separate player for Lineage Radio, and presumably would get better audio mixing with the in-game sound effects (if you have that turned on too).
As one of the DJs, I am always going to be looking for new ways to cater to the community. So, to those of you requesting specific types of music (the Finnish / Norse metal comes to mind), please feel free to PM me here and recommend band names and/or songs, and links to where I can acquire said music (legitimately).

Thank you!
An evening of Gregorian Chant would be nice, especially during sieges.
I voted for Blues/Jazz, because I had a feeling it wouldn't get so many votes, and this is something I really enjoy listening to. I love Ella Fitzgerald.
But I'm in the anything-as-long-as-it's-good club. This means no RnB, gangsta [censored] or factory pop. ;)
You should play some finnish and nordish metal. For european audience :)
ROFL that's exactly how I feel about RnB.
Finnish and nordish metal would be welcome :)
Need I say...
comtempory country ftw!!!!
kinda rock, kinda country
You have my vote for that genre :D
Mine too :D
(Would love to hear Ween: piss up a rope kind of stuff)
Also, quality country like Johnny Cash is good.
Not Shanaya Twain though. Is no good. She makes me want to hurt someone.
Light medium rock. But of course you NEED the oldies. Undertones, Sex Pistols, Queen, Bowie and The Clash - that kinda stuff!
Maybe dip into some Led Zepplin, Kiss, Ozzy Osbourne, Alice Cooper, Aerosmtih, Rush, Guns n Roses, Iron Maiden and ACDC. The heavier types.
Or if you want a modern rock feel go for some Muse, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Lost prophets, Kasabian,The Zutons, Green day, U2 (yes i class them as modern because they are still producing the goods) REM, Linkin Park, Foo fighters and Radio head.
Of course theres many more..

If you want this 24/7, might I suggest digitalgunfire?
Well it all depends on my mood.. sometimes I want to listen to New Age, or classical as purely background music.. and other times some good rock.. be it Audioslave, Iron Maiden, Megadeath, or progressive rock such as Yes, Kansas, or ELP. And then theres times when I want to hear good old punk like Suisidal Tendencys, Sex Pistols, Ramones or Black Flag. Or rock such as The Clash, The Cure, The Smiths, The Kinks, Bruce Springstein, etc.. there are so many variations on "Rock" it is amazing.
And when I am sieging I want to hear Wagner.. Ride the Valkyrie.. with a little "chop" in the background .. cerca Apocolypse Now.. <grins> Yeah.. classical is cool (is listening to Fiore' now).
So yeah.. even though I voted Blues/Jazz (totaly different genres by the way.. why they are combined I do not understand at all). I still like both in that catagory.
What would be cool is if you guys could create different channels for different genres of music. That way some folks could listen to rap or country (<tries not to vomit> Blech! ).. if they wanted to.. and others could listen to Rock, country, new age, real jazz (not that soft easy listening crap that often "jazz stations play"), blues (remember jazz and blues are totaly different here .. it is not like muddy waters is going to play Take 5 by David Brubeck).
Setting one radio station to play one type of music won't work for everyone. Even "rock" has styles some will love.. and others will hate. If you can only do one station.. best recomendation is to post a schedule for what kind of music that DJ is planning on playing for his "shift". This way folks know if they want to bother listeningn to it or not.
As for myself, as eclectic as I am.. I will probably just keep putting in CD's into my old Carver stereo system.. and not bother with listening to low bandwidth music over the net that would cause me more lag playing the game. But then again.. as a musician.. I prefer higher quality audio than what one can acheive over the net.. and onto normal "computer speakers".
that would take a ridiculous amount of resources and amout of man power to set up a different channel for each person :P That would be like running a different station for each of the genres and having a full set of DJs for those stations to run 24 hours a day would be...fun...
Mostly we aren't just going to be playing music. We are going to try to be entertaining DJs who actually talk and interact with the listeners and not just play the next track we get requested. We will all try our best to meet the needs of what people request us but many people will need to realize that some DJs will not play certain genres because they arent in thier catalouge. This does NOT mean the next DJ wont have the song you want. All DJs have different styles and different genre preferences. Mostly we hope that you not only listen to the music but to the entertainment we are going to try to provide you.
Oh.. I understand the complexitys all too well. I used to work in Radio.. back in mid 80's. College rock radio station turned comercial while I was there working doign advert's and promo's. Eg.. helping make the station.. the #1 station for a city of 72k people in the two years I worked there.
So say the DJ's listed there musical genre preferences... and folks could access a schedule showing what DJ is on at what times and could see that DJ's genre. Then people would feel empowered to choose when to listen, and when not to. When you empower the listener, then they feel like you are listening to them. And then you end up with a more positive and loyal listening audience for the long term.
I'm with SirElrohir, there should definately be a polka option... nothing better than listening to the "chicken dance" watching your enemies BSOE... :p
very impressive you guys played my favorite bad "Dream Theater" i never would have dreamed that (pun not intended) .
now if i can make a few more suggestions.
Fates Warning, James labrie, Neal Morse, FrameShift.
A far fetched idea i came up with while thinking of musicians.
why not consider integrating this L2radio system into the game. now that would truely rock !!!! :)

You know you're getting old when the Sex Pistols are considered 'oldies'. Though I will NEVER admit to being *cough*over20*cough* when they came around. I have to tell ya though, I absolutely loved listening to DJ Hippie and MustangSally tonight. Heard music I havent heard in a verra long time.

shut down for a legal battle. something to the effect of all digital radio requiring to pay charges. so MMOradio in fact also is either closed or nearly closed.
Yes the radio closed after the servers they used got overloaded almost everyday
While your story is amusing, it is in fact FALSE.
Lineage Radio, a division of MMORadio, was caught in the RIAA's (eventually failed) attempt to regulate internet radio and royalty rates.
With the numbers that were being presented, and no clear chance of victory in sight, Thinking Man Studios (owners of MMORadio) terminated the stations in June of 2007, retooling as an IPTV station.
That's about where I lost track of things, but Thinking Man Studios has gone on to other projects in the meantime, including the forthcoming MMO Exanimus (http://www.exanimusthegame.com/).
