Dagger classes

Trying to find some information regarding Dagger classes. Hoping someone can help me clear up some of the "myths" about the different Dagger classess, or atleast clarify "why or why not".

Treasure Hunter - FotM
Hawkeye > All
Plainswalker - gimp

These are the common things I see across various forums. I was wondering if someone(s) can provide me with some insight to "why or why not" regarding the above statements. I guess, what's different above the classes.

I've looked over the Skills tree for these classes and I'm just trying to understand how players have come to the above conclusions.

Any help? I'm just trying to get a better understanding.
Well, I can clarify one myth for you: The hawkeye ain't a dagger class.

Treasure Hunters, for some obscure reason, get passives that bolster not only their critical chance and damage, but also their attack speed.

Things are getting shuffled up a lot in C5 though, so that's all I can really say.
Treasure Hunter has a solid core of base stats (STR, CON, DEX) and very good passive skills. They have basically no selfbuffs or other means to enhance their damage soloing, as all effort was put into the base stats and the passive boosts. However, this means that with real buffs, from buffers, the TH will excell and be enhanced the most, and still without buffs have really good damage output (but runs slowly).

Hawkeye is the human archer, but I guess you meant the Abyss Walker, dark elven dagger user, which also has high base damage output, but is as any elf rather gimpy when it comes to taking hits due to low CON. With a small basic set of self buffs, and the dark elven suite of offensive magic, it's a bit more versatile and it still hits really hard and makes good use of external buffs (however in C1 it was dubbed AmissWalker ;)

Plainswalker has the by far lowest damage output, which is suppose to be complemented by the best self buffs for easier soloing, and atleast pretty decent critical rate. They're also by far the fastest running dagger self buffed, and one of the fastest in the game overall, due to highest base run speed as an elven fighter, the run speed passives all races of daggers/archers gets, and by having wind walk 2 as a selfbuff on that. However, the ww2 of course can be added to the others by a real buffer, and suddenly the Plainswalkers neat self buffs doesn't really mean much anymore.

In earlier Lineage the Plainswalker's lower damage output seemed to be defended by the fact that they landed their dagger specials more often.

The distribution of the mostly PvE-related skills feign death and silent move (but other PvE skills should be considered as well, like trick, lure and so on) between the three is also something to look at before choosing.

I thought Hawkeye is tank
Are you sure about the low PW damage output? If there's another dark elf (say, a BD) in the party that can hex, I'm sure the critical chance would be worth at least as much as the critical power, likely more.
Low damage output on specials/attack blows yes, on normal stabbing the difference will be less noticable I'd say, and indeed daggers overall excell in PvE damage dealing due to their high crit rates, high attack speeds and sustainability with just stabbing away... as the base damage is low on a stab, the crit damage buffs in a party do a lot to even it out - but the base damage of a special is very high, and the difference on them between a PW and the others is pretty huge, as the buffs don't effect them in the same way.
PW is the light elf dagger class, lowest strength of the three hence lowest damage output of the three. However they have the highest dex so they have a higher crit rate than say the AW does. TH gets crit chance passives. I think TH is FOTM due to having the highest con and therefore being able to 'tank' better than the other two. All three dagger classes so far on the PTS seem to be doing quite well.
Im not sure about all of them. But I REALLY like my AW.
STR does not make dagger damage, the power and frequency of criticals does. The question is whether or not the PWs' low STR and lack of critical power weigh up against the AW's high STR and lack of critical chance.

When I'm with daggers, I rarely saw specials being used during C5 - people just threw on VR as was needed.

STR has an impact on your Patk number so it does have an effect on a dagger classes damage. The crit rate has a greater effect though. To say STR does nothing is a bit misleading. From my experience so far on L2 PW is the least played dagger class, I honestly think that has more to do with people's playing style than anything. TH's get both crit chance and crit power passives. They also get attack speed passives that, from what I hear, end up making them have the fastest attack speed of the three dagger's.
Wow, great info, thank you to all.

And yea, see I thought HE was a dagger class and it's a bow class. Now if I didnt ask, how would I know? I'm glad I asked.
Dagger landing rates are now only dependant on dex and not passive crit skills or crit buffs. At high levels you don't need the str to do the damage, you just need the stabs to be reliable.

There is a perma-red AW lvl 65ish or so on Erica with 2000+ PvPs, 900+ PKs, maxed out karma and wearing doom light, -str +dex, -str +con who has no trouble jumping out of the bushes and [censored] you with 1-2 quick stabs .... btw could that person stop griefing me .. i'd really like to get to B grade :(

Even naked with a sword breaker an AW with maxed out dex can 2 shot anything running around in EG .. PWs are even more deadly as perma-reds because if they don't kill you with stabs, they can train you with fake death.
Ya, strength barely effects the damage at all on stabs. I admit, it's a noticable difference, but barely. The reason TH's and AW's stabs do more damage is do to 6 crit power passives. Which, if you ask me, is unfair since crit rate doesn't effect stabs land rate anymore.
TH > AW > PW.

Hope that helps.
Alot of people down PW's when really with their high rate of crits and their ability to get away they're pretty decent.

Like I said, I really think it's a matter of playstle. The average L2 player just likes to power their way through everything.
What makes me wonder is that I've heard a few AWs say that they think PWs have higher damage output...

And I didn't mean to imply STR does nothing, thus the "Make".
Well PW does have higher dex so a higher crit rate and atk speed. More attacks, more crits, more damage over time?
The one point in DEX should be barely noticable - the Crit Chance passive however... Let me pull up some numbers.
The difference is approximately 50 points of crits - I'm not sure how much of a difference critical power makes, or how it stacks onto the buffs though.
Its more like 75 diff in crit at level 3 crit chance. A diff of 50 is only crit chance 2.

My PW was 260+ crit, with crit chance 2 using DS + focus.
On my SK that same weapon only has 210+ crit.
speaking of crit and crit power etc

my WC just hit 52 and i got rank 2 of chant of rage, which enhances critical damage

yet there was zero increase in it,

Without critical power buff my crits does 2x the normal hit, with rage they do 3x, i thought with rage2 they should do 4x but they are still only 3x.

Then we got a SE in team with power 3 of the buff and crits are STILL 3x

Also, when we got a SwS in the team with his critical rate buff, the crit sizes went DOWN (we crit more often tho)

This isnt an isolated event, its happened in every team etc
Is it something that only happens in catas ? I have yet to venture out in the plains vs 1x mobs since i got the buff
You sure you wern't dreaming or something? Because if crap like that actually happened, archer's wouldn't be critting for 6-8k = \
The big crits come from Death Whisper and the BD dance combined. Yes all the passive critical abilities daggers get stack with them as well. My TH at level 50 using a focused grace dagger has a crit rating of 299 with Focus 2 buffed on him. With death whisper 2 he does almost 4x damage of a normal hit. If I get on a roll I have had 7 crits in row. When you hear the BANGs you just wave by to the mob.

With full buffs TH rocks, they get critical chance and critical power. They also get increased attack speed passive, which gives them faster attacks than AW even with the low DEX. The only thing they suffer from is slow run speed, the elf/de daggers really go an advantage there. Also, if you are forced to solo, either elf will do it much better. No buffs or magic at all really hampers the TH there.
My PW is lvl 50, drake leather set, +7 CD crit dmg, my crits unbuffed are about 700 and my regular swings 250 ish. My attack speed is 702 i believe with GSAP and my evasion is over 100...soloing i run through mobs like they owe me money.
