I've just recently hit 50. Yay gratz for me! Anyway, I was wondering on what the most painless, cost efficient way/area to hunt to get myself through this and on to 52 as quickly as possible. I'm looking at two different ways:
Solo/Duo:
If I can grab myself a really bored prophet, I could solo Forsaken Plains. I was hunting there with a Hawkeye friend of mine, level 52, and we were cleaning up the place with SE buffs (a friend passing by with a SE buff bot gave us some buffs =D).
If not solo FP, then I could most definately solo Cemetery. It's decent xp, but it gets boring, hehe.
I was also thinking about the area near the Bandit Stronghold. My girlfriend, an ES, hunted there really well, and the Transcenders transform, and are arrow weak =D.
Or, I could continue soloing where I have been since level 46: The area in front of Cem. Those Archers of Greed and Hatar Ratmen Thiefs are a godsend to archers. However, since I hit 50, I'm only getting just under 5% a buff round there.
Group:
Ok, for grouping I have a few little ideas. I could go in Apostate/Aesetics and compete for rooms with "They Who Shall Not Be Named" groups. Or, if I'm feeling adventurous, I could go in GC. However, grouping isn't something I like to do... I tend to get the bad end of the luck stick when grouping.
I just want to compare my ideas with you who are more experienced than I, and hear maybe some more ideas from you that I may have overlooked or did not know about at all!
Ever tried getting into a clan? Above 50, soloing is not a valid hunting method anymore (but the hp/mp/buff drops in the hunting ground will help out). Best part of being in a clan and an alliance is to have the opportunity to hunt with other players regulary. It helps that you will play with the same players more often as well so you can learn to trust each other. Remeber that a lot of the long timers are in the proces of leveling their subs up.
Bad part about clans/alliances are the PvP freaks who love nothing more then to start a war for no apparent reason and you get involved in that mess as well. Still, after 50 you don't have much of a choice.

I've been in and out of clans for almost two years. And, I'm joining another one today. A mostly PvE oriented clan (RP clan and all) too, that has a good number of people in my level range.

I hope you will find grouping more to your liking once you play more often with the same people. Pickup groups can be a bit untrustworthy now and then. My personal tip: Make sure your clan contains a bounty hunter to go with your groups. You will see that the profits will double at the very least.
Shackles, Headless Knights and Royal Cave Servants drop Gold Wyverns if you have the coin quest form Sorint in HV. The Shackes have the best Gold Wyvern rates, but they are lvl 45, and provide not really good Exp/damage ratio. Royal Cave Servants are the best to exp (be careful, they are social, and they have Mortal Blow), but their Gold Wyvern drop rate is weak. They drop 60a items from the quest from the DV entrance quite often, though.
try the 1/2 hp mobs outside of oren for FAST kills and decent exp per kill. that should quickly net you a good level or two soloing. they are lvl 52 mobs, so hun them until youre green in the face, and they are green in the name.
The end of every gear change is a grind. 18-20, 38-40, 50-52 etc.
I prefer dragon valley for duo'ing from 45-52. Good quests good xp and cool mobs I suggest that.
Good quests in Dragon Valley? Explain please. :o
cion quest has mobs in DV
skele kill quest in dragon valley (get mats, and rarly full items)
snake quest
Ok the first 2 quests I knew about first, but the snake quest? I know there is a Succubus quest that provides decent money, but since when are the Maiden and Keepers part of a quest?
shackles actually have one of the lower coin per mob kill rates. Headless knights is much better but there arent as many of them in an area.
My experience is that Shackles drop 7-10 coins per 30-40 mobs buff round, when you roam around killing them on first come first served basis (for some reason, the quest drop from the freshly spawned Shackles seems to be much lower than for the ones kept untouched for a minute or two; the regular drop seems not to be affected by their age). You can find a place with good respawn of Headless Knights (for example, upper level, left to the 2nd bridge), but with the same average DPS you will get about 3-5 coins per buff round there (so maybe even less if you need extra healing).

that should occur about the same time.
Sure, they are half HP, and I could probably kill them in one good crit. However, they are agro/social group mobs. And I dun like group mobs. I'm a DE =(
