I Remember my first class change was dark avenger and it took me days to complete even with a guide. Very frustrating. As time went on they got shorter and shorter because many use the same mobs. Also, with the priest of dawn ports added time could be cut to an all time low. Now I am about 15 or so class changes in and I just finished my hawkeye quest in a little under 6 hours last night, not bad I must say! It seems once you get locations down you can really fly through them. With priest of dawn ports I average around 5 hours for a complete level 40 class change. How have others progressed?
lol dont be jealous (cant tell if that is sarcasm lol). A lot of them are the same thing as other class changes. Pretty much if you have done one archer class, one mage class one whatever class you get the same 3rd part of the class change. Then a lot of classes share the same 1st and 2nd part so you just end up doing the same thing over and over.
The first time I do one I do read the storyline that goes along with the quest because it can be fun if you can turn it into more of an adventure, after that its just routine :)
Oh also.. if I have to change another summoner, and it's dawn week, it'll probably be around 4 to 6 hours, just like you said - I've done four summoner classchanges now, two of them ES. It gets quicker every time.
Before I do any of my class changes, I make side-by-side lists of the locations I have to go to and the mobs I have to kill for each of the 3 quests. Many of the locations/mobs are the same, and you can really optimize the amount of travel you have to do if you synch up the right steps.
For example, the 3rd step of the 35 quest and the 7th step of the 39 quest might have you going to TI and the Elven Ruins. If you can do these at the same time, you'll save a lot of time (and port costs).
ohhhh very interesting, are you telling me you can have all three of the quests going at the same time? This is amazing...I thought they had to be done in order...wow I could cut another hour off I bet hmmmm I hope this is true!
A lot of people wait until they're 40 before they start the quests. This way, you can be in C-grade gear and it makes the quests all that much easier. Personally, I like to wait until at least 39 before I start the quests. I would rather just get them all done at the same time, rather than spread it out over a period of 5 levels.
And no, you don't have to do the quests in order. You can complete the 39 quest before even starting the 35 quest. Each of the quests has a level requirement (or 2...some of the quests require to you be a certain level mid-quest before you can continue), but they are order-independant.
Yeah, I have those lists too - I think my warlock list is even published somewhere.
IMHO:
- If you want to enjoy the quests in a roleplay-i fashion, start them at 35.
- If you want to break up your grind from 35 to 39, start them at 35.
- If you want to do them swiftly but enjoy a challenge, start at 39 with a list.
- If you are poor, definitely start them at 39 to save yourself porting fees and/or the truly excessively long runtimes of these quests.
- If you want to do them swiftly and are bloody sick of them, start them at 40 with a list. ^_^
It does get faster. I think I levelled my SwS from 24-40 and did the quests in less time than my first class change took. I've always waited until 40 and did the quests all at once in c-grade. Goes very quickly that way, plus you can often save an expensive trip to TI that way.
I figure, if you've got to XP anyways, you may as well XP on the same mobs you have to kill for your CCQ.
Yup, starting at lvl 39 after killing everything for all three quests and getting a bit of XP for completing them, you will find that you'll be over the 50-60% mark.
The last 2rd class change I made was the Gladiator quest.
All 3 quests (35,37,39) was done simultaniously and I had top PP+SE buff all the way.
I think I used a total of a little less then 3 hours on that.
The part that tok the longest time was in the 39 quest, where I had to travel deeeeeeep into the Mithril Mine :(
It tooked me about 3 days, maybe 4 (it was long ago, so i can hardly remember) to finish the Palus Knight > Shillen Knight quest. If you put it in hours it would be about 12-14 perhaps more. I started quests at 36, used the gatekeeper only few times, done all 3 quests without any outside buffs. Mostly i traveled by foot and used SoE then needed.
Well i just take my first class change 3 days ago... Gladiator... I searched Mobs like hell and i need nearly 4 days for all 3 quests ! The last Quest really was a pain.... The monsters wasnt that strong as the NPC told but hard to find ! Well now im done and i think it was WORTH it ;)
1st class changes are easy since you can use help (there is a beacon on the map where you have to go) or there is an arrow above your had that you really can't miss.
I also do my 2nd class changes together, meaning I start all three at the same time by printing the guide and then for the each part of first quest I look if any other of the two is on the way or near by. I'm also careful for parts of the quest that are on the same mob.
The most helpful websites are L2 WH.com for mob location and lineage2.stratics.com for quest guides.
class change quests have been upgraded and almost every single step has a pin on the map or indicator over your head. I used to have to use quest guides but the pins and arrows are so helpful I just did my prophet quest in 4.5 hrs last night with no guide.
They added more port spots in noobie towns to help you get to some parts of quests faster too.

I just finished my 1st class change, to Bladedancer. It took me a total of about 9 hours, 4 one day for the first and second quests, 5 on the second day for the 3rd. The BD and Gladi quests are the same last quests, and the worst part was the trip deep into the mines. Since this was my 1st class change quest, I didnt have C grade equipment yet, but I did wait until level 40 to begin them all. When I was finally finished, I had gained 60% into my level. They were very easy, slightly tideous, but I was actually glad to have a break from the cata and necro grinding.
It depends from many things.Items, friends, and ofcourse knowledge in english language.I started all my second proffesions' quests at one time, when i was lvl 39,because many of locations are same and u have to visit them at same time of quest progres. As example u have to hunt same ants in wasteland in all of the quests,so i did it at once.Problem was that i did not have friends, clan, and adena. So I went to all locations not using teleports, just running to them.I was using the free bow from Miss QueenCat (D grade,p attack105).No pots,no healer,no buffer. It was very hard at Cruma too,i had to kill 10 portas with this bow (Porta is very big bad monster whit all possible resist). So i spent about 2-3 days to made them.
Finding Master Toma in the Scavenger/Bountyhunter/Warsmith quests is hard because he is TPing to 3 difrent locations and it takes more than 20 to check all 3 places (solo) wich means that Toma has TPed to an new location when you finaly check the last spot.
Quest for Elven Wizard is also wery hard if you try to do it alone...being lvl 19/20 with top ng isn't enough inside elven fortress...
I have done:
1st class transfer: 14+ 30-60min (2 accounts and like to try out the classes)
2nd class transfer: 2 (WS +/- 5 hours and SE 4 hours)
3rd class tranfer: not yet.
