An orc mystic with +9 STR (not that I say this is advisable unless you want to powerlevel) has a slightly higher PAtk multiplier than an equal level fighter with 44 STR - such as an elf in BW heavy.

I'm wondering whether this is the reason the mystic weapon nerfs took place? A strictly PvE kind of thing?

Both bow and pole are ranged weapons. You can pole and bow any player outside their melee range with root on all the healer classes. The nerf was swept across mystics to prevent the use of melee skills when they are, in fact, spellcasters. L2 classes are all about specialization.

But then how come that tanks don't have the same nerf on poles and bows?
Because they can't implement that easily. ^_^; It's just how NCSoft works, I guess.
Funny finding. I'd have put quotes on 'works' in your last sentence.
But I don't want to be perceived as constantly bashing NC, which I'm not, so I'll refrain.
Pff, it's a mutually abusive relationship! Love them and hate them, after all. They certainly made a game with awesome potential, but apart from that it's a slippery slope. ;p
Keywords are 'potential" and then 'slipping'... toO bad.
