Trash Talk?

I've decided to prepare for chapter 5 by doing what it seems so many others are doing, and making a dagger-user. Having been a Spellsinger for so long, and been used to being a big factor in PvP, I had to choose one that could get the job done, so I went with TH, since it seemed the most appealing to me. I managed to get to 36 before the trash talk from my clannies started. It's good hearted joking, but I was wondering if you guys had any info to defeat the points they bring up.

Point 1) Daggers still have to chase down their prey, so they get hit a lot on the way to the enemy, setting them at a disadvantage. True, they're faster, but you're GOING to get hit, as I see it.

Point 2) Slow won't be nerfed from what I've seen. Will this pose a problem when fighting SH's and Sorcs?

I know many of you have played daggers on the PTS, as the arena is always stuffed with them. Am I wasting my time, or am I going to shut them up in c5? What all is being done to them in the new installment, specifically the TH. Any info would be helpful, though I would appreciate not getting personal opinions, as I've gotten plenty of those already.

Thanks!
In C5 you are a fighter class and figthers are supposed to kill defensive mages and get kille by offensive mages.

So you are meant to have problems with Sorcs and SHs but be able to easily take out healers and buffers.

That is intentionally designed in that way.

Intentional Kitten
I still can never get past the fact that people re-roll every new chronicle. Why? Play what you like to play. Who cares what can beat you and what cant. I beat an archer a couple days ago with my AW. I guess that came down to skill and knowing how to play my class. Anyway.

1. Yes you will get hit still and being a light armor user your going to get hit hard. Your evasion is a life saver. But not always.

2. I dont know much about the slow thing but I do know my AW has freezing strike so I can slow my enemy to.

And finally anyone that re-rolls because there afraid of getting owned is wasting there time. A dagger user is an awesome class even in C4.
Being melee is a huge innate disadvantage sometimes (or most times? I dunno). Large scale group vs group pvp is almost always fought at range with each side trying to pull eachother in. As a melee I have to separate myself from the crowd and spend 5 seconds vulnerable to all their archers and nukers as I run up to them.
In 1v1, most nukers are able to get in 3-4-5 hits on me before I catch up to them. Not counting being slowed or rooted. Let alone archers who run far faster than me.

Once I brought my alt's d-grade bow with me on my 66 warlord for a siege. I got to use that more than my halberd.

I'm not re-rolling, so to speak, because my Spellsinger will still be active, and fully equipped. This is an alt that I may use for PvP events if it's worth using. Just wondering wether or not the insta-kill and other changes to them for c5 will make them worth choosing over my SpS for a fight.
Dagger is not supposed to run out in the fray. They are supposed to take advantage of the chaos, find lone targets, and take them out.

I saw a great pvp video that was posted on the Hindemith forums. This dagger (can't recall the name) did just that. The fighting started and he basically went around the battle and picked off the mages as they were busy bombarding their targets.

I think you need to know what your role is and fulfill that role.
Sovrath makes a good point. In pvp I look for a weakness in the group im fighting and take advantage of it. In pvp yes a dagger user is great. But theres many other classes that can kill us just as well. Facing an orc fighter is always tough they will take advantage of our low p.def it will be hard for them to hit but when they do you will feel it. Against an archer were not bad. UE is nice that 30 seconds is key to beating an archer. Nukers well I havent figured out a great way to beat them yet. Basically what Sovrath said Im normally the one to pick off the opposing teams healers.
A useful tip, I'll keep it in mind, both on my TH and my SpS ;) Keep my eye out for Tezra sneaking around back.
