It was because 2 hours is now considered brief and things cannot be brief at NCSoft, so they decided to increase the maintance schedule to 4 hours, which has now become normal. :D
There goes any chance of primetime playing though :/
What I would really like to know is what do you guys do to the servers that require downtime?
Can you ask a Server Tech over there what all goes on, what do they do? Why does it have to be every week why can't it be once a month at most?
I work for a large printing company in there IT department, now this is a production type business and we rely on our servers to be up 24/7 with very little down time as it costs us money. Any bit of down time we do get is hard to approve and is few and far between. Plus most updates can be done with out taking the server down. Now we do have backup servers or fail over servers, why can't NCsoft. Unless you do and I am talking out my rear end.....
Just wanted to ask the question, would love to learn more about Ncsoft's server/network setup.
