What makes a player hard core? Is it that he can burn about 18 hours a day? I have heard that. Is it that he using the wit that god gave him, knows how to haggle market prices? Or is it due to anouther reason? Do you consider yourself Hard core? If so.. let us all know what makes you hard core. I believe myself that a hard core player is someone that doesn't play it like any old video game but one that puts stratigic playstyle into how they play there char.(s) To be hard core is to use all the potential of the char in my mind.

when you constantly push the envelope of your character's potential. if you can exp 1 level in 1 hour, then proceed to take the next level in 45 minutes, youre hardcore.
if you sacrifice the gear of many lowbie toons to obtain your next grade weapon before the time is ripe to do so, youre hardcore.
A hardcore player to me says that player has figured out the game, his/her toon and how to maximize the efficiency of the grind. Definitely someone that plays for hours upon hours non stop or some P breaks.
A TRULY Hardcore Player is someone who is overdue to go to the bathroom but will pinch themselves off until PvP encounter is done and over with and they are safely in town. Navigating with one hand of course. ;)
What about the hardcore role-players? The ones that stay up for 22 hours to finish a dramatic scene? The ones who spend months developing an in-depth, three-dimensional character, knowing full well that at the end of the plotline he's going to die?

a hard-core player to me would be one that would stay OVERLY focused on the game...whether that is frequent 12 hour playing sessions, dedicated grinding beyond what most can do, fanatical raiding, olympiad/hero.
I would think a player could be 'hard-core' about various areas of the game.
The mega hard-core players imo would be REALLY focused on essentially all of the game.
None of those descriptions fits a casual player like me. 2 hours per night--maybe 3. Sometimes a 4 hour stint on a weekend. Not particularly good at parts of the game yet (suck at pvp).
Those who ACCOMPLISH would be my definition of hard-core.

That's what the empty two-liter by the computer desk is for. Hell, in many cases, it's simply a matter of recycling the original contents of the bottle through the player's kidneys. One pass only, please.

lmao... don't forget the crates of redbull and tv dinners right beside the computers
I think a you have become hardcore when other people begin to question how fast you are leveling and where you got your gear from. Most of the people on the server .... well you know them...friends or enemies you know their play styles, if you can barter for prices with them, if they see you and the pvp is instantly on!
Mean while you have eat'n three times at your computer and you have to pee so bad it hurts.
All of these replys are great but I think you are missing one. What about the player that is 4-10 levels under you and preceeds to kick your Butt in PVP not once..not twice, but every time you see this toon and try to take revenge for the last butt kicking. To me that is Hard core. To know your enemy better then he knows himself. And to use his weaknesses against him with out him knowing it. That is hard core in my mind.
10 lvls below??? for some that would be a diffrence in armour/weap types. i dont kno if that hardcore or just some1 who just bought the account (via ebay r such) goin up against some1 who actually knows the skills he has. hmm... only exceptions i can think of is in the upcomming chronical some1 (ie. bishop) taking out a summoner's summon and proceeding to root and distance kill, and a dagger user vs bow user being kited non-stop. hardcore--> no, this seems like a situation where they dont know what classes they have the most disadvantage too.
Hardcore is persevering against all odds. Hardcore is going to the front line of a castle defense at level 48 in C grade Karmian. Hardcore is courage and even though your the healer not running from a fight.
Or maybe that's just stupid. I can't tell the difference.

Want to know my my clan/allies win pvp battles? I run around and all our enemies chase me no matter who else is attacking them. I know they will go for me first and i act apporitly. Like last night 4 76+ people got rolled by my clan there were 4 of us 2 70+ 2 under 70+ and the reason was they totally ignore the other 3 people and i just kited them around in circles while they got dropped.
Also if i put half the time i did into making money as i would if i was leveling i would be 78/78 easily but i have fun making money :) I know the market better then almost anyone on my server and one of the richest non warsmith non top ally people on the server because of it.

that is what i mean... ur lower than them, but they (in ignorance) went after u alone and got killed because they A) couldnt catch up to u, and B) didnt even think about the other ppl (unless they were tanks i dont see why they did this)
We were 4 archers 2 PRs and 2 HEs the highest level archer was a HE and they stopped attacking him to go after me when they saw me lol you cannot buy skills in pvp :) a skilled group of people will beat people with better gear or levels within reason. I also find it more fun to fight as the underdog in a fight you dont know if you will win :) Hardcore players always prefer the challenge then the easy win.

Wow your cologne must have gone rancid because that's some serious agro there.
Hardcore in essence is not leaving your computer to do simple things like paying bills (guilty).
when your friend calls and asks to hang out; and you say you can't cause you have a siege you got to help defend/atk on.
when you gain alot of weight cause you refuse to go out side.
When you do go out side it's cause your forced to for some reason that makes you want to cry.
When you post on the forums more then you lvl..is a form of hardcore. (SirE any one??,meL?)
when you keep lvling even tho you need a shower really bad cause you not showed in 4 days cause you been sitting at your computer grinding away is hardcore (and just nasty).
your hardcore when you skip reallife stuff (work, school, social life) so you have more time to play the game.
getting your *** whooped by some1 10 levels lower then you does not make the other person hardcore. it means your a noob
I think its funny, the people like this one and another that said that Being hard core in a game means being irresponsible in real life. I am not sure that deems one as being hard core. As far as this quote goes. I am not sure that beating someone 10 levels above you would make them a noob also. I wanted to see the L2's communities thoughts on this topic. I hear everyone trying to brag about how there the hardest player out there, and its because of this or that... Well my friend, I think as far as responsibilities in real life go. Skipping a Siege or clan war, or whatever the case may be in game has far less repercussions then lets say not paying the phone bill and or electric bill. I think that is just immaturity. So tell me again what hard core in game is. Unless you can't think of anything better.
Hardcore players will always pay their electricity bills !
Not ahead of time but enough not to be cut off and have their computer shutdown for a lack of electrons.
Mac, a little puzzled, explains that one only says "Touché" after they make a point and someone else makes a good counterpoint, which Mac has not done because PC has not yet made a point in the first place.
Mac decides to backtrack to give PC one more chance at using the word correctly, but PC makes the same mistake again.
:p :p :p
But actually it's debatable.
Touché can also be used to acknowledge one's hit.
I'll look further. ;)
