From what I've read I should go daggers and heavy armour (I've been using a mace with robes til now, I'm an OL) specifically a dagger with focus.
So how do I add focus to a dagger?
I have been reading over at Stratics and it will say:
Crystal lvl requirement
and then Green SA for focus
What does that all mean (is that for a crafter?) or is that stuff I need to worry about as an end user?
Also when it says heavy armour, does that mean a Mystic can equip any heavy armour? I guess what I mean is, as long as it's at my grade level, is fighter heavy armour and mystic heavy armour interchangable?
Anyone can use any armour light / heavy/ robe, but u get passives as a mystic u get twice castspeed in robe. Most OLs i seen use heavy while solo/duos and robes in bigger groups.
Well the SA is mostly an end user thing, u can always buy an dagger with SA focus already applied. But thats usually extra expensive now i dont know your lvl or what weap u wanna enchance. But until A grade its the local blacksmith who applies the SA.
Depending on your lvl if u around 40 its easier to just buy the crystal since the mobs that can lvl it is around 50+ and it usually takes a while so if u need to spam heal pots and rest alot not worth it. Try shouting in Giran or hearing with your clan if anyone got what u need.

For Mystics it pretty much works like this: (All skills add pdef)
Naked - 1/2 cast speed and MP regen
Robes - Normal Cast Speed and Regen (All Mystics get passive skills for this.)
Light Armor - (Healer Classes) Allows Normal Cast and Regen in Light Armor (Shillien Elder/Cleric/Elven Elder/Orc Shaman.)
Heavy Armor - (Orc Warcryer/Overlord and Prophets) Allows normal cast speed and regen in Heavy armor.
For Orc OL/WC, most use heavy because of the huge MP consumed by their skills. Even in Robes you usually won't be able to replace a healer, and other buffers will have better skills than you until late. Thus you will end up in Melee to conserve MP and usually heavy armor to reduce damage. (Not that this is the 'best' way to go...it's just the easiest.) Most OL's have some robes that they use when they need the MP even if they use heavy a lot. (Like sieges.)
SA's. The Blacksmith in each town can apply these to weapons C grade and higher. (I think mammon is needed for A, but my memory is fuzzy on that right now.) To apply the SA all you need to do is gather the parts.
1)An SA'able weapon.
2)A fee (small) I think 200Kish
3)Graded Gemstones usually 1.5M to 3M for C/B grade you can buy these in Giran. (Mineral Traders.)
4) An SA crystal of the appropriate level. It MUST be the exact level you need. Too low or too high and it wont work. (The BS in town can tell you the level if you have the weapon in inv.) You get L0 crystals from the enhance your weapon quest. You need to level them on mobs to raise their level. For L7-L10 Crystals your looking at L60ish mobs. (Giants Cave then Devasted Castle.)
As for weapon. I have used pretty much all of em. And while I currently like the daggers the most. (Green mobs mostly) Due to the high crit rate, the large numbers of 'evasion' mobs in C5 is really, really, REALLY making me rethink this. Not sure what I am going to go yet, but I may go Sword with Focus or Guidance for A grade, althought the new 1 handed blunts are nice. I hate losing the crits though since I solo a lot.

This isn't exactly true, not wearing robes gives 50% cast speed. Light armor masteries only give +91% of that cast speed and Heavy gives +68%.
This means you cast at 95.5% of robe speed in light armor and 84% of robe speed in heavy.

Argh, yes I forgot it's not 100%. Maybe a 40pt difference in cast speed at L58 with heavy vs robes. (Forgot to write the values down before logging off, but I think it was 280/240 unbuffed.) Overall it's not a big deal unless you are going for a cast speed setup. (Heart of Paagrio casts fast anyway, as do the seals that land (Winter/Chaos/Slow)...the iffy ones (Silence/Root/Suspend) an extra second isn't that big of a deal usually.)
For AOE I'd probably go Robes + Cast speed.
For party I use Robes to buff, switch to Heavy and melee until the buff timer is down to about 5 min, then conserve mp and switch to robes at the end. By the time the Nukers/Healers are full up I can buff and rest for a few hundred MP before going to heavy again. Only issue is weight. Carrying Robes/Heavy mean I only really carry one set of Shots with me. So I go Bsps instead of SS. This is mainly because I am usually the lowest level in the group and mobs are red. If I have extra MP I can throw on Soul Cry for a min or two and do more damage than even SS gives. (Sure it would be more if I used SS too...but then I'm not trying to take aggro from the DD's.)
I use the Robes/Heavy MP trick in solo also. Rest in Robes, grind in Heavy, then back to robes for regen when the buffs run out. This way I am not wasting as much buff time resting and still have plenty of MP until the buffs run out.
For A grade I am going to try to go with Light armor instead of heavy. More for the +% Mp regen than the evasion or slightly faster cast speed. I am working on getting a full Tallum set because that has the best special effects across the entire range of Robe/Heavy/Light. For a Shield I got a cheap Dark Crystal one. (The +222 MP on the light set is a nice bonus too.)
