The Unreachable drop.

Most of u must have seen piles of adena lieing ontop of a rock and unreachable and thought that's a shame.

So have i, today however i found such a pile and on closer inspection there was an Enchant armour C scroll among it.

This was so tempting to me that i tried my luck and GM'd it i asked if they could put me on that rock.

I was told this is a gameplay issue GM's can't help with gameplay and i should resolve it within the community so here i am.

How would u guys & girls handle this? I know it wasn't my drop but i could have used it. Just GM again? Dont bother?
(I wouldnt bother if it was just the few k and the coal on there)

I know how you feel, had that happen with an EAB once. Kinda makes you wish there was some sort of autoloot system in place to stop it from happening if youre close enough. For ranged drops they (ncsoft) could try and implement a system where loot the "slides" off of rocks. However I can forsee some real challenges with a system like that. :confused: nevermind :p

I would summon my trusty sineater and have it hump the rock to pick up the drop, obviously. o_O

Oh wait, I'm a summoner, so I don't bother carrying a pet! Must get myself baby pickup buffaloo.

Since the petition was probably auto closed, me personally I would probably get irritated and send a couple more in the hopes that they would actually do something, knowing full well there is NOTHING you can do to get that item as a player. (except maybe pet ******* the rock, never tried that)

It worked for me a while back - but that was when I was actively playing my dwarf (who owns the trusty sineater) in C3.

Basically the key is that a pet can path up anywhere and through anything - of course using this to get through a dungeon wall is clearly an exploit, but I'm not so sure if using it to get to a bugged drop would be considered the same.

Any pet should be able to do it.

Dernit, someone popped a squash inside the weapon shop one day and none of the drops could be picked up, i never thought to use my hatchling >.<

Errr well for the squash they posted warnings saying to NOT do it in shops and stuff. Mobs drops you have no control over.

dont do the pet thing! what if you get banned for exploiting! they wont tell us what is a exploit or not so this might be one of the ones that gets you perma-banned without any explanation!!!!!

Might be. I'd hope they'd post in response to this though, or I'd at least get a forum ban. ^_~

So the GM's told you this was a game play issue, which is clearly on there end cause we players cant do a **** thing about it, that they cant do anything?

Can someone please tell me what a GM is for now? They arent there for gameplay issue that is out of the players hands, so what do they do. I would say, what else do they do, but I dont know of anything they do in the first place.

It used to be they would send it to a higher tier and they would give you the item later if they found it was you that got the drop and it was in a place that couldnt be reached.

As pointed out, it is in the players' hands - provided, of course, that is not an exploit. Someone call Mistryl!

3 rocks further down the road there is another rock laden with cash and on this rock there is an Enchant Weapon C.

I will be hunting in this area a bit more offcourse. If not from the rocks i'd still like to get my hands on some scrolls.

Near Oren.. im not sure what dropped this loot (its just lieing there on those rocks casting a lure on me) but its a pretty safe guess its one of the Timak orcs.

As far as I have found, there are *some* spots your pet can reach that you don't seem to be able to, but not *all* of them. (Sin eater might have a few more spots it can reach...cant confirm it at this time though.)

A couple of spots your pet can get in...but not out...at least until you put it away and resummon. ^_^

It has nothing to do with gameplay issue. It is a) Mob respawn location bug; b) geodata designer's bug.

But, as usual NCSoft is not respecting customers. They are always right, and it is customers, who are wrong. Very nice approach to PR.

funny funny. I just read this now, and I gmed about the exact same loot. The autoresponse i got was that adena/items suck in terrain, are belonings to aden, and wil be removed at server restart.

Good answer whoever gm that sendt me that. I have you a poor evaluation.

edit: I have to add..that the tresure chests actually are planted on top of the rocks..kinda faulty design dont we agree?

Ah, but that would imply that there's treasure in them...

Wouldn't even be an issue if drops were more regular. I personaly wish they would change it to say..... the same as the PTS is right now.

I would just like even drop rates for both quest items and regular drops off anything light blue to pink - and maybe a lowered amount of adena/drop in exchange for a 100% drop rate on all monsters that have unmodified droprates.

I collected 57 lvl3 treasure box keys just to see how my luck ran on getting EWD/EAD and anything else that might come from a treasure chest the below are the results.
11xFailure: chest disappeared
14xFailure: chest attacked back
21xAdena:The Adena ranged between 7k and 20k
19xEAD/Adena
2xEWD/Adena

So at 10x drop rates and only 2xEWD this reinforces my opinion that live server drop tates are just plain rediculas.

BUT I HAD ALOT OF FUN DOING IT.

IMO live servers would servive just fine with 10x drop rates. Even on PTS with the 10x Drop rates its very very difficult to get into D grade before lvl 30. Yes I know its because we are lvling so fast.

In 40 lvl's on PTS full drops are still rare as you get higher lvl.

1xMagic robe set
1xRed Cresent earing
4xMithril Banded Gaitors

If drop rates on live servers excluding adena were 10x I think it would put the fun back into the grind. Even though I know my toon will get wiped in a week or so I would still rather hunt on PTS than live servers. The 10x xp isn't what does it for me its actually having the chance at getting a drop. Or even being able to collect enough material in a reasonable time to craft something. I have enough base mats to craft most of my C grade armor All I need to get now is the recipe and the parts. I would go hunt those but we all know I would have to hunt mobs much higher than I am now.

All im trying to say is even if the xp/sp and adena were lower I would still have fun hunting on PTS becuase I know I can collect the base mats I need and may get a drop now and then. I think this would fix alot of problems we have on live servers now.
