Ok, this is getting stupid now, it's not just once but every siege. As soon as people step into giran casting room they critical error. It isn't number of people in the siege as we entered the castle with 3 parties, no defenders and 19 people crashed in different places at different times.
This happens nearly every siege and totally ruins the game. Is it just on Erica or is it on other servers too? it's a joke.
I almost never get that in sieges but the last siege I was at... maybe have been Giran I can't remember, the clannie i was followed crashed clean out of the relic room also with a crit error. That left me alone to be destroyed by the people following us.
I think many of thoes problems is seriously related to memory instability, ofcose not all of them, but I for one have to have a SINGLE crash like this, I 'super super super' rarly get this crit errors, had like maby 1-2 of em the last year I've played the game.
Most common crash I have on other hand is related to my sound card :P but yeah not this.
And no don't let it just run for a min let it run for preferly 12+ hours no need for more then 24 hours thoght.
Sieges and so on put your hardware under serious stress, specialy memory transfer so thats when it common happen.
And this crit errors is usualy about corrupt data in the memory and the client halt you becose it don't know how to deal with it and don't want to cause real problems.
I've had sieges where there was no problem, and I've had sieges where 60 out of 80 people crit error upon entering the courtyard, entering the inner doors, or just at some random time standing around in the throne room.
A few people, sure i'd blame it on the individuals. When you get that many people crashing, all at the exact same instant, it points to something on the other end.
Are critical errors a problem with the game? Or a problem with our hardware. I critical error out alot. My pc is old. Im building a new one. Just need my processor now. Im hoping that clears up my problem. I never thought of it as a server problem or anything like that. Now im curious...
It's not t he server who send crit msg's it's your client, I said it befor it's mostly related the hardware problems.
And as I said again, ALL of it is not releated to it thers for sure some gamebugs but I'm very sure MANY of thoes peopels who crit like mad have hardware problems. Do the test abow, it does not hurt and you get to know if you got instable ram or not.
Like last time I upgrade I got instable ram, neded to rebuy ram twice to get something that worked 100%.
If 75% of a large force of people (80 people or more) crit error at exactly the same time, it's kind of tough to blame it on their hardware. Even more so considering that represents a very wide spectrum of hardware and setups.
Typically if your software at any time results in a crit error on that large of a percentage of machines, you might want to take a look at it.
Um yeah that could get expensive too. I have a good machine, I rarely crash but often times when I do I hear a chorus of "I crit error'd too" which doesn't mean we all have bad ram.
Lol, it's definately not to do with our computers. As I said this is a regular occourance especially at giran siege on Erica.
It's not just 1 crit error, 20-100+ people crit at around the same time, mainly in the throneroom or courtyard.
For example on sunday a group of 20-30 of us ninja'd into giran castle while the owners were killing noobs at oren, we had 6 minutes left to cast which would've given us the castle. upon entering the throne room, the only person who was able to scribe crit errored, then most of my party did, then I did. About 4 people out of 30 were left ingame and the enemy came in and killed them.
This happens alot and is totally destroying one of the best parts of the game. GM's do nothing and it's getting really bad.
It happens to attackers on Sieg at Gludio atleast once front gates and inner doors are broken. Once they enter the new terrain they mass crit error and are sent back to Gludin.
It happened in the Dion seige on saturday on erica. after the castle was crested, a bunch of us got crit error as the game tried to port us out of the castle. it didn't effect the seige, since the castle was already taken, but it wasn't very nice of it to happen.
It's changed the course of giran siege on Erica an insane amount of times and totally wrecks the game.
2-3 parties try to ninja the castle in the last minute and NC sends the all back to hunters village. From what it seems it's only an Erica problem.. is this correct?
it was terrible yes, and it isn't that my comp wouldn't hold it, it's the latest of the latest and stabil after 3 days nonstop checks.
ok it might be old now, but it just 4 weeks old.
Crits happen sometimes when porting through gk, but for the rest am fine, till like on last siege 80% + just crit :(
I'm almost thinking of some **** type of thing, but that's not mine to find out or proof etc, not my job
Happens at every Heine Castle siege when entering the inner doors or just getting them down. Garanteed 75% or more of the attacking forces will crit error as soon as they break down the doors or step in the doorway.
The error is not in the hardware per se, but in the programming. For a time, I would crit error everytime someone attacked a door or attackable wall in any form or fashion that I was near, wether it was in view on my screen, or hidden behind a town/castle wall. Yes, even attacking my own clan hall door (any clan hall door for that matter) or someone "knocking" on it would cause me to crit error. It didnt matter if I attacked the door, or someone else, but I would always crit error. This was on my main computer, but my 2nd computer was not affected by this bug. My main computer never exhibited this problem before that time (I think end C3 or start C4). The hardware obviously is not the same, but similiar enough to rule it out. And yes, I'm more then capable enough to diagnose and distinguish between hardware and software problems on my own systems.
I made sure to click the "report bug" button that you get whenever the client crashes with an internal error, as I knew I was not the only only this was happening to at the time, as I saw post about it on other forums, and could hear my clan mates on vent pretty much all say they crashed at the same exact time. At one of the client updates, the problems went away, as far as crashing when attacking doors/walls. The update after, the problem returned. And the next update, it went away again. Obviously its a known problem to the programmers, but the problems still persist with crashing in certain siege situations. Like many others, its almost 100% guaranteed that I will crash at least once during a siege, whether its soeing, breaking down a door, or entering a castle area beyond some doors.
To me it seems that the problems lie with the way the doors/walls are handled in the game engine. What that problem is though, I havent a clue. But yes, it does ruin the sieging aspect of the game when a attacking force of a couple of dozen of people, are reduced to just a handful, all at the same exact point in time.
