I just hit 14, I'm wearing the wooden set and broadsword. I'm constantly running the ivory tower quest for money and I have a good amount. I was wondering what my next step for gear and quests should be. I was looking through and saw some good sword rewards for some of the ones I have, so I was gonna run those and use em for a while. Also, up until now I've been using bow and sword, using power shot then letting the mob come to me, melee and repeat. is this viable for later stages in the game or do I need to stick with one weapon? thanks
Untill 20 you can really mess around and experiment everything that comes in your hand. After your first class change and certainly after your 2nd you will use 1 weapon type all the time, cause the benefits of that 1 weapon will far outweigh the other weapon's advantaged for the class you have chosen.
FE = A Phantom Ranger will always use a bow, and a Blade Dancer will never run around with a blunt.
Good Quests is the Zombie quest and the ones in School of Dark Arts...be sure to take the quest in DE town at lvl 21 to go deep into SODA, it's gives you 102k adena instant for killing just one mob :)
Hi, hope you guys can give me some insight... I'm a 20 Palus Knight (omw, actually a long way to becoming a BD). I'm geared up with Bronze top/bottom, round shield and an Elven Sword.
I'm farming to get an Artisan to complete my 107 duals, but at the rate i'm going (doing all 4 repeatable quests in DEV) is gonna take me quite awhile.
*Money issue is another topic :)
What I wanted to ask is, even though I'm going BD, for the time being I'm going to pretty much be using a sword and shield for some time now, would it be prudent or make a difference to take up those masteries?
Also with regards to the "tanking skills", Hate, Aggression and Confusion, are these worth the SP?
Confusion = meh
Hate = always wanted in party or raids
And yes your shield and sword masteries are a must have. Certainly as you are new and don't have Top D to make up for that.
In any case using duals before lvl 40 isn't really needed, try to upgrade your sword through mammon and invest in armour. My Palus Knight (Ok Im in the game longer so I had the luxury to equip her with top gear but I hope it gives you an idea) had
0 > 20 Bronze, Falchion, Round Shield, no Jewelry
20 > 40 Brig Set, Elven Long Sword, Elven Jewelry
40 > 52 (Planned as Im not actually there yet) Raid*Raid, Composite (although Full Plate is the target Ill settle for my Composite)
For money, try to manor a bit while grinding and sell your mats in Giran to buy shops, can easily speed up your process of adena gathering.
So would you say that I could do more damage (or be more efficient at killing) if I apply the masteries and use a single sword, verses using a dual without any masteries?
At the moment, I have a 1 - 2 (maybe 3)hr/day play time during the week, and a couple more hours on the weekend. Therefore most of the time I'm soloing, also I'm in a totally different time zone (actually half way across the world) which makes is kind of hard to meet people for parties and to manor.
Also, with regards to Mammon, I can only use him if I join the Seven Seals and get AA?
It's in my belief that buying duals for 20 > 40 gives faster but less efficient (money wise that is) xp. So in your case I would not advice it...just add your passives and swing with sword-shield, you'l be fine.
Im from Europe and not from the USA as the majority of players on Sieghardt, yet I hardly have a hard time finding a pick up group in Dion or Giran on any of my chars.
Time difference don't really count for manoring, if you stay away from A bone and Coarse Bone Powder rewards you should be able to get your turn in anytime you want too. Bone and CBP is heavily farmed and thus farmerdominated.
Yes Mammon is only available through the 7 signs in the validation period, joining Dawn is free untill you hit 40 and passed your 2nd class change, so I dont see why you shouldnt just sign in and collect some Ancient Adena. I for once have never been a big fan from Catacombs or Necro's but that has more to do that I don't really like to hunt in that environment, rather then its effectiveness...I hope I made sense there
spidermaster - orviets is right, you will absosmurfly need your sword and shield to level.
in any case, going solo will require you to buy some supplies, and require some control.
an experienced lvl 20-40 player will tell you you need Healing potions, alacrity potions, haste potions if you can afford them, antidotes, good jewellery, patience, and an SOE.
your gear is fine they way you are now. for money go to gludin, get the black lions quest from Leopold and hunt in and around abandoned camp. talk to the SouthEast gate guards for the quest into the Lizardman barracks. both are quest you will spend a good 5-6 levels doing, and make a good chunk of cash.
best advice you will get is to upgrade your WEAPON first. when thats done, repeat whatever it is you did to get the cash in the first place, and get new armor.
if youre only gonna be able to play in a 103hour window, youre gonna be out of luck for raiding. so happy hunting man.
lvl 20-25 Abandoned camp. lvl 25-31 Windy Hill, lvl 32 to 36 Cruma marsh, 36 to 40 in Fields of Silence/ Fields of whispers.
what you MIGHT want to do is tell a coweorker or close friend to start playing, and trick him into being a healer. then you will level faster, make more money, and spend less time on mobs.
but good luck with that.
also: get a clan. lone wolf players are picked on and called bots every so often. its discouraging.
Thanks Orvieta and Spudnik for your input... I certainly do appreciate it...
Orvieta, what did you mean by
"It's in my belief that buying duals for 20 > 40 gives faster but less efficient (money wise that is) xp"
-Why is it less efficient XP and money?
Also with regards to manoring, the fruit I harvest after seeding the mob, is "sold" back to the manor in exchange for mats... Correct? Then I sell the mats to other people for adena?
Sorry if I sound like an idiot, but I read the Manoring for Dummies, but I still couldn't wrap my head around the whole system.
Spudnik, with regards to the Gludin quests, are they more profitable than the DEV? I'm getting about 20,000++ per cycle (4 repeatable). Also I don't buy any health pots and only buy a couple of SOE's... Since I'm 21, the mobs I hit for the quests are either bloody blue, light blue or green... So downtime is almost nonexistant, except for a schmoke and pancake...
I guess what I'm asking is the quests you remended is probably good fer me xp wise, but with regards to adena, I can't seem to find (searched stratics) a "cycle" of quests that can beat 20,000adena.
Sorry to be a bother, but I really do appreciate the suggestions... and hope you guys can be little more patient... hehehehe
I guess I'm missing something... I did see those quests, but from my perspective they don't seem to be "big money makers". Also considering how many "quest items" needed, seems like that 1 cycle of both quests would take a long time, unless I can kill the mobs with one strike.
Maybe your taking in account of the adena drops + items, which is definitely better than the current ones I'm doing now, but for pure awards adean for adena, I can't ignore the 20,000+ adena award of all 4 DEV quests put together.

I meant less effecient xp regarding to the money you put into it...and the gain you will have as complete new char that doesn't has an adena pool to mess around with.
You are correct about the manor, and don't worry about the question, took me almost 2y to discover this system and now I am a big fan of it.
It is a rare sight that a new player immediately understands that adena buys your lvl in this game. Ok your xp will slowly go to zero as you keep hunting blue mobs, but I don't believe you can do much better in money making then now.
Spudnik is right though, you may want to check out Abandoned Camp. It's a nice environment, so is Dion to start exploring the L II community.
cycle fast. dont wait for the 1 hour or no SS rule to come up, just bang out the fantasy wine quest (really fast to do) and sell the wine to the store. make yourself a fat wad of cash (100k approx and if you got a good wine) in under 2 hrs.
Don't get the brig set. The helm is around 2 mil or more, on my server.
Since you said you were going to use a Sword and Shield, get the mithril heavy set. You can buy the entire mithril heavy set from the store in Giran and the Hoplon adds about 120 HP.

who needs to buy the helm? the helm parts drop off of lvl 37 mobs near hunters village. get a group and hunt them starting from lvl 30 and youll have at least 1 part you can set up a buy shop with. set the buy price to 100k each, and leave it open overnight in hunters village. youll need 8 parts.
you can craft the helm for under 1m because the rest of the materials are dirt cheap.
