I was playing L2 yesterday and was taken to Tanor Canyon for the first time. I've been playing for about 7 months and have several toons, the highest being 58.
It got me thinking about how many other areas there are around the map that I have never been too and I am most likely too hi to visit in some cases.
So this post is for that purpose, list areas that you have 'discovered' that not many others may think to visit because it is usually the way that people tend to go where others always go (tried and tested) rather than find somewhere new.
Mine would be Forest of Outlaw that I found when I was late 40's and stayed until early 50's. Good xp, reasonable drops and Transcenders which have great xp if they change. There was never anyone else there apart from a couple of unmentionable parties which I worked around as there were loads of mobs and apart from the easiest level one, didn't aggro.
*sigh*
I miss the beautiful rocky beaches and the snowy hills of my homeland.
I miss the canyons and the mamooth trees, we used to make our coal from.
I miss the cool dusky caverns of the mithril mine *sniff*
I miss Dwarven Elmore !
Homeless Kitten
P.S: And Master Toma.. If I ever see you again, I will bury your head under the elfen tree.. Yes. ONLY your head !

lol, I used to ask people to kick him for me when they found him.
And I agree about Devil's island. Get a group of friends together and go hunt there while you can. Lots of fun and lots of nice spoils if you can bring a bounty hunter with you.
alligator island, it doesn't seem there are many in dragon valley (the front part). The orcs around apostate, south or whatever of hunters village on the bugbear guys and orcs.
The dwarven homeland is breathtaking. Some of the roads southeast around the mithril mines have to be seen!!!!!
The high bridges in the orc hunting lands are awesome as well.
I would probably choose to live by the ol' mahum checkpoint outside of wastelands...beach not far away, mountains and hills nearby, far enough from the wastelands that your property values would hold and near enough to the MDT to play the ponies...sort of like....Utah.
Anghel waterfall and wastelands are pretty nice and rarely used locations. Also Valley of Saints is fantastinc though many people hunt there now. Back when i was in C grade my roommate noticed my character looked a lot like Mr Peanut. So i traveled all around Aden and Elmore taking screenshots which we later put monacles and a cane into to create "Mr Peanut's Journery through Aden".
lol must see pics of Mr.Peanuts ;)
Ya I mentioned the falls because the view is awesome I took some screen shots of my char infront of it. I hunt there, because the lizards give good exp & not many people as you mentioned. :p
Cruma Tower, Forest of Outlaws, Enchanted Valley, Garden of Eva, Devil's Isle (nasty place), Forgotten Temple, Ants Nest... etc.
EV was one of my favorites for a very long time. Good EXP, lots of mobs (as long as it isn't too crowded) and pretty. I leveled my AW there from his upper-30's up to 55 there (and working on an SE at the same time).
The bay you encounter when you swim from Talking Island to the forgotten temple, and at that, of course the temple itself. Not only was the swim fun (although plagued with nervosity, because two people who knew I was red had a fair chance to guess where I was going), but I found myself in a very beautiful spot once I arrived.
I also love the area around Innadril city, from the little pagoda just out of town to the hills surrounding the castle. Just plain beautiful.
Love Devil's Isle! Maybe that's just my inner pirate speaking or maybe it's all the areas that are danger zones. Some areas you can get fire damage, others poison, even one that you can become paralyzed in at random. Reminds me of good ol dungeons and dragons scenarios more than any other spot in the game so far.
For me it would be the dwarven lands of Elmore. It's such a great looking area and completely seems like its own enclosed little world. I'm a fan of all the high cliffs overlooking the area as well. You could almost make another entire game about that area. The mines are also the only place in the game where I can still get lost on a regular basis.
It also has some of the best lore and some of the most fun NPCs, even if some of the quests there are pretty brutal (Toma anyone?).
I realy love the EV scenery. I still remember the 1st time I went there. I was stuned by the awesome scenery.
First time I entered ToI 5, still in C grade back then, I allmost wet my pants when I saw those Karik's :) **** those where huge. (still are :) )
Let's see... I remember the first time I went in the Elven Ruins. It's the smallest noob dungeon, but ****it I have some good memories there. Some of the more out of the way places... Hunter's Valley, don't seem to see a great many people there, the strip of land between Death Pass and Hardin's Academy, Plains of Dion, the areas surrounding the Wastelands, the road south and west of Floran, the mobs along the road into the Neutral Zone from Gludio, Windy Hill, North of Ruins of Agony. I've hunted all those places. o.o
I loved the C2 cemetary, with the medusas, that are now outside the cemetary. And the silenos area just outside aden. Those were my best solo areas with my tyrant. Now the cemetary is ruined with ugly mobs :( -The gargoyles look nice, but the rest is either boring looking or ugly, or both. I really wish they'd make orc mobs look more interesting.
-And the medusa area is completely overfarmed - hard for a solo player to get a mob before the pros. -Last time I checked anyway.
I really like the area with the ol mahum trancenders and the ol mahum witchdoctors. Those are cool mobs!
fields of silence, tasaba lizardmen, and anwhere else that has silimar looking mobs with different qualities. (i remember when prowlers used to be green they looked similar to the poison spiders in the spider nest, it just seemed so natural for one mob to mimic another, especially if their prey is noobish low level adventurers). windy hill is another good one if you turn off mob names. people may think that its cheap on artwork, to re-use the same things, in the same location even, but play in field of silence in first-person mode with mob information turned off (so you cant tell one shaman type from the other), and tell me that its borring O.o
of the new areas, id say the stakato nest is the most creative. was down there with a couple clans for a raid one time and had to ask in party chat "whoa. anyone else feel like a [Censored]?"
Right now, my favorite place to level is the Forest of Mirrors. The mobs I'm after can level my soul crystals while giving me good exp, I've only seen three other people besides myself in my area of choice over the past week, there's plenty of room to kite and avoid the mobs that give less exp, the setting is nice to look at, etc. It's made of win!
sea of spores...
with the old HUGE Orfen that had eat my cute little dorf so much... 12:1 for her :p
(was always funny to hear the screams when exping there, "RUUUUNNN, SHE COMES !!!")
Enchanted Valley, including Hunter's Village. :p
Monastery of Silence.
Varka Silenos.
I duno, I thought these places were fun to explore. I have a few other places I enjoy, especially certain parts of other places, but overall I would say these are some of my favorite.
Forest of mirrors ... love it.
There are more places that are awsome, but forest of mirrors leaped to mind in an instant.
Can't help but be amazed what beautifull lands they have created for this game..
I love Schuttgart territory, all the way to the Frozen Labyrinth. It's beautiful in a tranquil sort of way, with a wide level range of hunting grounds that are usually pretty empty.
