"All races can craft Common items, however, which include potions, dyes, and accessories. All characters gain this ability at level 1."

And to add to that thought.....

I feel the crafting you're thinking of here.... It is dwarf only.
:eek:Did you forget to take your Ritalin? :p Anyways, warfs are the only ones that can craft armour and weapons. They make alot of money too, so I suggest when you are about level 40, make a dorf and sell some dss! You will be suprised ;)
you really dont have to wait till lvl 40 to sell dss, you can start doing that as soon as you hit 20 or acquire the 'craft item lvl2' skill and you are good to go :)
(ofcourse this is if you make a dwarf toon and go with the Artisan route).
I would suggest that you save up all those materials (mats) rather than sell them. You will need them all, and more, sooner or later.

If you do sell things like duplicate recipes, players usually give better prices than do the stores. Some things players will not want, like recipes for leather boots. The market is delightfully complex, so tread carefully and have fun!
dear extremnewb,
Don't sell your mats yet!!!!! Keep them stacked in the warehouse for awhile.
One of two things will happen--you will either see that they sell for a LOT more in Giran than they do in Gludin/Gludio and sometimes Dion (meaning you will get more money for them),
OR, you will join a clan and that warsmith will love you enough to make you something cool.

I could make an industry out of buying basic mats from new players and reselling in other cities. Don't be a victim! The 150a or 200a you're being offered for iron ore or the 300a for Varnish or 800a for animal bone is a rip-off on just about every server!
Best warning I know how to give you friend. Keep your mats till later.

As for crafting as a dwarf......you will NOT make millions making soulshots. It costs you about 9.5a (varies) to MAKE a soulshot and you'll get maybe 11 or 12 for them. at 1.5 or 2.0 adena each, you'll have to make a million of them to make 1-2 million adena. No one is telling you how long it will take you to make a MILLION soulshots---it's a LONG, LONG time. Particularly without someone regening your mana.
The whole dss thing goes like this--you create a few hundred of them with one click. You get maybe 5 clicks--figure with one mana bar you can make (at lower levels) 1600-1800 dss in a batch. Even when they sell if you get 2.0 adena profit each that's around 3k. Then you wait for mana regen for a few minutes and create the same number again. You'd have to go through that entire process almost 800 TIMES to make a million dss without help. Hours and hours and hours. After all those hours you'd profit a million to 2 million adena.
I can make that on the market in 3-4 good overnight afk shops and play the game during playing time. Remember, while this dwarf of yours is selling you aren't playing (unless you have another account).
And btw, anyone who completes any dwarf class change quest with that little snot Toma DESERVES lots of money! I still think the game should allow players to kill him when the quest is done--just for the satisfaction it would bring.
The reason to play a dwarf is cause you like the class--it's a dwarf thing.
They don't print/coin adena in the basement while other characters are out hunting. Given manor system and open sell/buy on market--any character can generate adena on L2.

Most people who profit with soulshots can buy soulore in huge lots in starter areas, have at least 2 L2 accounts so the little dwarf can sell constantly, and have access to mana regen from their 1st account or clanmate.
Without those opportunities you will take forever to profit from DSS (although some profit is always possible).
My 2 cents (adena)
