The seven signs thing has interested me for a while. when i hit 20, should i just jump right into it or qait till im 32 or so. Also, no one has made it clear what ancient adena can be traded for (other than regular adena), also, is it just a party in a room for 18 minutes killing monsters? thanks... there has been so much stuff added since C1 when i played :P
yes, when your lvl 20, talk to the dawn priest and sign up if it's the quest period. then go to Necropolis of Sacrafice and solo there if you can. theyre good places lvl 20-40 when you dont have to pay to join dawn :p

It's not when you're 20. It's after completing first job change. You don't have to pay to join Dawn until after completing second job change.
There is an info page on this somewhere but I'll try to give you a quick summary.

7 signs consists of 2 sides. Dusk and Dawn. They fight for 1 week, then there is 1 "rest week" where the winner benefits from the rewards.
The winner is determined by who wins the festivals combined with the amount of seal stones they have contributed. You can only get seal stones from catacombs/necropoli.

Only one side can win every 2 weeks. They both have the same rewards (seals), except from the castle related stuff (The seal of strife). If Dawn wins strife, castles and mercenaries become stronger. If Dusk wins strife, castles and mercenaries become weaker, and only the castle owning clan can defend their castle.
Castle owning alliances can't join Dusk.

Other seals include being able to trade with mammon's merchant and blacksmith, and the priests (unseal a/s-grade, buy enchant scrolls, greater alacrity potions, style potions, etc+++), and getting exclusive access to necropoli and catacombs. If you are not participating, you can't enter any necro/catas. The losing side can't enter them during the rest week.

Dawn usually wins and it's very rare for Dusk to win (they just did on Hinde tho), so if you just want to be able to use the catas/necros and trade and stuff, just go dawn.

Ancient Adena is used to trade with pretty much everything of what's mentioned above, including really cheap and better teleports. The rate on most servers is 2 adena for 1 AA.
